Short But Filled With Awesome

This was probably the shortest Asian series I’ve ever watched. Definitely the shortest Kdrama - even shorter than Boys’ Archery Club! And because of that, there was little time and space for background info on the leads. I would’ve loved to learn more about Tae Joo’s family, about why his father was so hard on him and what happened to his mom; and also about Kang Gook’s family since we didn’t get any info on them at all; and about how they met too, how they got to live alone together in that luxurious house...

But despite that, I did love what we got, given the time restraints. The way music was used to enhance scenes, the inner thoughts etc., this reminded me more of Jdramas than Thai BL dramas. It felt like we were supposed to read between the lines in places, to figure their past ourselves. As a fanfic writer, I love it this way because it allows you to fill in the missing pieces yourself, it gets your brain going, it makes you think.

Also, considering this was one of the very first actual gay Kdramas ever, I have to shower them with kudos for choosing to give the boys their happy ending instead of going all dark and gloomy in the name of art or real life tragedies or whatever. That was a really nice surprise!
