Jojo needed more time with herself before deciding who to date

This is actually my first review on a drama even though i have watched over a 100 Kdramas, Cdramas, Thai dramas etc. I felt i had to write this review mainly because i was highly disappointed with not just the ending but also the way the plot developed. I am team Sun-Oh but contrary to what people will think, this is not the main reason i disliked season 2.

To start it off, my first problem with the drama was the way in which they failed to connect season 1 with season 2.This is something i find common in Kdramas that get a season 2, the season 2s become a whole new drama on their own. Because they failed to connect season 1 and 2, i felt Jojo and Hye young's romance was not justified. How did they go from barely talking and interacting in season 1 to Hye young actively pursuing Jojo in season 2. She even goes to his apartment in episode 1 and sleeps over sometimes. This does not make sense to me.

Also a lot of people have been saying Jojo and Hye young's romance developed over the season but i don't see it because to me they seemed so awkward around each other. Whenever they would have actual conversations Hye young would begin rambling about things that it is obvious Jojo is only half listening to. This was not the case with her relationship with Sun Oh in season 1, they were both so invested in the relationship before it tragically ended. This also leads to my next point, Jojo never gave a reason for why and when she fell out of love with Sun Oh, if she even did. In season 1 she claimed she would love him forever but suddenly in season 2, she no longer loves him and only has feelings for Hye young.

Lastly, i got to episode 6 but i couldn't watch it to the end, i watched it up to the marathon scene before dropping it. Jojo's decisions just never felt justified. I think she needed some time not just a day or a week but some o more time to think about herself and who she truly loves irrespective of who has been waiting for her. Because the truth of the matter is that both boys have been waiting for her, one was just given the privilege of waiting beside her while the other was denied that privilege for "his own good" according to Jojo.

On a last last note, a lot of people have been saying Sun Oh is toxic because he got with a girl his best friend liked. I disagree with this totally. Sun Oh was wrong for kissing her while she was still in a relationship, no argument there, but he wasn't wrong in pursuing her even though Hye young liked her. Hye young made absolutely no moves to show Jojo he liked her in season 1, he never talked to her or did anything with her so why should Sun Oh back off. With the way season 1 was looking, Hye young was never going to make his feelings known simply because he didn't have the confidence. Sun Oh had the confidence and he went for it and there is nothing wrong in doing. As long as you are not dating or have plans to date, then he did nothing wrong in that aspect.

Healing and comforting like no other

The best words to use to describe this drama is simply healing and comforting. This is the second review i written in my 8 years of watching asian dramas and the first was a review for a bad show. This show was honestly one of the only shows i ever looked forward to every week and it is one of the few shows that i could stand watching it even though it was an ongoing drama.

I initially did not want to watch season 1 when it first came out because i thought it would be boring and i wouldnt be able to continue it but i took a leap of faith and immediately i was hooked. Then season 2 came out and i feel in love all over again with this drama.

From the characters to the storyline to the medical scenes to the band sessions, i love every single episode of this drama both in season 1 and season 2. The actors did a wonderful job portraying these characters and drawing you into their individual lives. The band sessions were the highlight of my week as it allowed me to discover new songs and fall in love with the characters even more. I see a lot of comments complaining that season was too medical scene but i totally disagree with this. I feel like there was a good balance between the medical scenes and the characters daily lives. It is also good to remember that this is a medical slice of life drama and not just your typical medical drama. Meaning that the lives of the main characters are what we are drawing into and most of their time is spent in the hospital.

I loved the ending of season 2 because it did not feel rushed one bit it felt perfect for the type of drama hospital playlist is. Anymore and it would have felt to jam-packed and rushed, each characters storyline was concluded and settled. The only thing i would have loved to see is Seok Hyeong's mother's face when she meets ChuChu because i'm sure it would have been hilarious but apart from that i totally loved this drama and i'm going to miss it so much. It honestly became my comfort drama since season 1 and it helped me get through the boredom and loudness of the pandemic.

Im not even surprised i fell in love with this show after i found out that the team behind the Reply trilogy and prison playbook is the same team behind Hospital playlist, Reply 1988 is one of my favourite if not my favourite Kdrama and i also absolutely loved Prison Playbook.
