Man, this show is playing with my feelings. I haven't read the entire novel (which it is based on), so I need to find the translations, but they keep being taken down. Supposedly there will not be a bed scene, but a floor scene?!! I need to read that right now or else I will go insane. To be honest it is really good and I love slow burn dramas and novels so if you are a fan of those 100% recommend this. Also, it is friends to lovers which I also very much love, so it basically is the perfect bl drama for me. The two main roles have close chemistry so that makes the drama even better. I would give it 10/10 but I really need to know how the floor scene goes down before doing such a thing. anywho, I really recommend this drama for those who are into slow burn and friends to lovers. it is currently ongoing, and you have to wait every Monday for subs, but it's always worth it. Warning, one main character, Third, cries every episode. I would watch it as episodes come about, but I think it would be an amazing drama to binge watch. I can't give a full review since the drama is still releasing episodes, but so far it is a must watch, and trust me I know my bl. I have watched and read too many to count.

why.. why.. why??

horrible show with a phenomenal cast. this drama has no plot what so ever and it really shows the second you get past the first episode. it was like i was watching a bunch of problems that get solved in one episode turned into a whole series. like wtf was that whole sister plot in the beginning that turned into nothing?? also, sorry but the ML and FL had no chemistry what so ever. after finishing a drama made around this time (fated love to you) and seeing the intense amount of romance between ML and FL , it made me realize how goddamn bad it was in this show. like the FL looked as if she was in pain when they kissed!

i don't know the FL's acting skills well, so i won't 100% judge them, but her character was so lacking and the acting was mediocre, that it felt like they didn't even try. even the ML too (acting wasn't bad)! how do u make the two main characters of your show the most boring ones!!! i fell in love with choi yeongdo out of everyone, and he was a piece of shit! but his story was so much more interesting and it felt like his crush on the FL made way much more sense than whatever made the ML like her. also, his actor (kim woobin) is fucking killer. without him, i would've dropped the show so fast.

honestly, none of the other characters were really memorable, but they weren't bad. it just was so annoying how everyone protected the FL... like for what? she's so boring, and not even that nice. i would've never gone out of my way for her, lollll.

and do NOT get me started on the "LOVE IS THE MOMENTTT" shit. i'm so sick and tired of that song.

only great parts, in my opinion, were the jealousy/fight scenes, but mostly bc i'm such a sucker for jealousy. i love it when testosterone is flowing so much in the air, it becomes a drug and u get addicted to it.

TLDR: bad characters, bad plot, good casting, yeongdo plz hmu i can fix you

a must-watch drama!

talk about chemistry!!! this show honestly captured me the second i started watching. idk if it was because i was eating my dinner, or my adhd brain was like "this is so crazy, i love it" but i could not take my eyes away!! i watched the full 20 episodes in 24 hours (stayed up until 8 am, got 4 hours of sleep, and continued watching) and i don't regret it at all.

the characters, mm mm mmmh! yes, lee gun is a bit annoying, yet there is this weird charm to it, where u can't help but fall in love with his quirks. and kim miyong is to die for. she is absolutely gorgeous and a girl who is too kind for her own good. i really didn't mind the fact she was a bit helpless, because it totally made sense as to why! and by the end, she had this amazing character arc that i was rooting for her the entire time. i just wanted to protect her from everything and i 100% understand why gun fell for her, as i did too~ and the romance... it has your heart racing, gripping your toes just from how amazing it is. i literally started crying by the 7th episode over how much i loved the show, it filled my heart up so much and i looked forward to every scene between gun and miyoung to witness cute moments. and these actors can ACT! no wonder they were casted in so many dramas together, their love felt so real.

and the side characters: silly, cute, and a bit annoying (yes i'm looking at YOU, sera) but i enjoyed them a lot, especially the secretary and lee yong. my man choi jinhyuk (daniel's actor) and i have a lot of history, so imagine my surprise after i just finished watching heirs, to see him in this show, i died of laughter. i did get a little bit bored with the whole sister side plot, but i didn't mind it enough that i felt like it ruined the show for me, noo. just a bit of a nuisance.

but this is a romcom with a LOT of angst though. the middle of the show had me crying so hard that i literally had to pause the show and sob for 30 minutes. you will get so attached to these characters and feel exactly what they feel. i don't know if the ending 100% pays off for the amount of sorrow i went through, but it was a sweet ending nonetheless.

my only complaint is the fact the entire pregnancy plot gets dropped halfway through the drama. i get it, she lost her child and it was the turning point of the show, yet i really really wish it didn't take that turn. i wanted to watch a show that followed this unlikely couple going through pregnancy and then raising a child, so i was a bit disappointed it didn't happen. like imagine the cuteness overload we could've gotten as miyoung neared giving birth and how overprotective gun would've been!! but, it still was a great drama even with this little problem i had. (btw if any dramas are similar to what i described plz recommend some!)

but other than that, this is a drama i'll remember for a lifetime, i don't think ill ever be able to move on from my gun and miyoung, and how much i wish i could find the romance they did (minus the pregnancy, thank u very much)!

This is my favorite Korean drama of all time. I only watched room 709's storyline, so this review will be for that. It was so beautiful to see their relationship blossom into love, and how it created conflicts between the two. The ending made me BAWL my eyes out. Yes, it was that sad and I really loved it. I didn't watch any other room's story, so this isn't a total review on the whole show, but on one storyline. If you are into basic BL with no kissing, I recommend room 709 in The Lover. That whole thing shaped BL in Korea and I have to give all my respect to both of those actors. Even though there is no kiss, it has an amazing story and to be honest doesn't even need a kiss. It just shows the relationship between Joonjae and Takuya. Takuya is a very friendly person who moved into this shared apartment with Joonjae, after coming from Japan. There are funny little interactions between them and even a sexual one? Yeah, it's confusing to explain. But, later Joonjae starts feeling things from this attractive, cute, and funny Japanese man. That's where it all goes downhill. Joonjae is actually dating someone and has been the entire storyline. Joonjae and his girlfriend have a fight, the girlfriend figuring out Joonjae has feelings for Takuya. *Here is a little insight on how he realized his feelings. Takuya invited a friend he had in Korea, but Joonjae becomes very jealous, ending him up to lock himself in the bathroom, throwing all of the items on the counter, off.* Takuya has always had feelings for Joonjae as well, but as we all know, Korea isn't a big fan of gay people. So, Takuya decides it's best off if he leaves Korea all together and goes back to Japan, thinking his crush on Joonjae will stop. This is where I then cry because the screen goes black and I thought that's where it ends. I then went to the comments to only found out there is more. I press play. It turns out someone is knocking on Takuya's door, remember he is in Japan. He opens to door to see Joonjae with luggage by his side saying, "Good afternoon, my name is Joonjae. I came," in Japanese. He basically reenacts the entire scene where Joonjae and Takuya first met (which I think is so beautiful). If you can't tell, I love this storyline so much, and I do recommend to watch every storyline, but The Lover is more known for this beautiful BL part. I have watched many BL, even ones with many kisses and ending up together, but I love how this BL shows the side of being judged for your sexuality and the build-up of a relationship. Overall, this will maintain is my favorite BL drama, even though it isn't even the main focus.
