The reality of how significant yet fragile our lives are.
The impact we have on the others is something that we certainly aren't aware of. Everyday we wake-up, we prepare ourselves and we go to work. Sometimes we fall in love, sometimes we get hurt yet we are never completely alone as next to our deathbed someone who cares for us will certainly be mourning. This drama surely is a realistic portrait of life in all its imperfections. We could have wished for a different ending but that's how life is, cruel till the very last moment. That is why friends and family are so important. They make your burdens seem less heavy and they hold your hands and make you laugh even in the worst possible situation. This drama is a perfect mixture of sadness, joy and strength. The main characters friendship is something so valuable that makes you yearn to find someone with whom you can share all your best and worst memories. Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do, and Kim Ji Hyun certainly are amazing actress as they perfectly portrayed all the facets of their characters in the most engaging and overwhelming possible way. This drama is a well deserved 10.Was this review helpful to you?
It's a good drama if you are patient enough to watch 150 episodes!!!
"Second Husband" is a drama that had great potential to get a higher rating. The plot was very interesting and I liked the cast a lot. However, the length of the drama made the story uninspiring. Unfortunately, an exceptional cast cannot make up for a lost plot episode after episode. I realize that a daily dramas generally are pretty long but 150 episodes truly are too much. The script writer could have developed the story throughout 40/50 episodes without describing too much useless details. Nonetheless, I sincerely liked the ending, especially the redemption of some characters was very touching. Was this review helpful to you?
Twinkling Watermelon: A Radiant Ode to Life's Resilience & A Undeniable Work of Art
"Twinkling Watermelon" is a poignant exploration of life's challenges, seamlessly interweaving the themes of disability and the often-overlooked struggles of parents. Parents experience parenthood for the first time in their lives, and they are constantly learning how to be good parents as they navigate the journey. Despite being human and prone to struggles and mistakes, they remain open to hearing our voices, driven solely by their heartfelt desire for our ultimate happiness. The show masterfully delves into the delicate tapestry of human emotions, portraying a narrative that encapsulates the essence of perseverance, resilience, and the undying spirit of life."Twinkling Watermelon" goes beyond the typical portrayal of disability, skillfully integrating the narrative with the intricate dynamics of familial relationships. The portrayal of disability is not merely a plot device but a central aspect of character identity, fostering a deep connection between the audience and the protagonists. The storyline delicately addresses the theme of arguing with parents, shedding light on the often-misunderstood struggles that precede parenthood. The narrative unfolds with a focus on the main characters, each facing their unique set of challenges. The characters' emotional journeys are portrayed with authenticity, capturing the unspoken sacrifices and hardships parents endure, subtly urging the audience to empathize and appreciate the depth of a parent's love.
What sets this drama apart is its unwavering commitment to delivering a message of hope and resilience. The main characters serve as beacons of inspiration, demonstrating that life, no matter how challenging, is a constant twinkle that should never be extinguished. The narrative encourages viewers to recognize the struggles inherent in existence but emphasizes the importance of finding happiness amidst the difficulties. The drama's core message resonates powerfully: "Never give up on your life, give up only on giving up on your life because you can't wait until your life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy." Through its exceptionally talented cast member, well-developed characters and profound storytelling, the drama leaves a lasting impression, reminding us all that life's journey may be tough, but within the struggle lies the opportunity to discover the true radiance of existence. "I love you the way you are and that's it!"
"Whether you are a man or a woman, fat or slim, tall or short I just love you the way you are" is the central message of this drama. The male lead does not care about Love's gender he simply genuinely loves him/her for whoever he/she is.Although the trailer presents the story as a light-hearted fantasy drama, I was deeply moved by this story. Finding someone able to love you for who you are is something really hard to achieve. We may search for our soulmate our entire life and always try to change for the person we love but if we lose ourselves we will never be able to be truly happy. Love changes her gender for Vier but she still is not able to be loved by him. To be loved, Love should first learn how to love herself and this can happen only when her male form and female form are in harmony with each other. Love is not only being accepted by the person who declares his/her love to us since to find our soulmate we must learn how to love ourselves.
In the end, love requires making some choices that we are willing and happy to make even though in the eyes of others they only appear as silly sacrifices. because as we love we learn that those "sacrifices" are worthy since what you get back is so much more than what you have lost, this is true love.

Just rewatched this drama, it still is my all-time favourite.
This drama is so powerful. The cast is amazing, the chemistry is just perfect, and the story never gets boring. Lee Seung Gi, Bae Suzy, and Park Tae Seo are the most interesting cast combination I have ever seen in a k-drama. Needless to say that Lee Seung Gi probably is one of the top South Korean drama actors, if not the best one.It is fair to say that the rewatch value of this drama is and will always be a well-deserved 10/10. I am still waiting for a second season. Gu Family Book is a drama worth your time!

A crude depiction of what being different is in our society
A society that still has to evolve, that must learn to respect who is different and doomed to be outside the social canons. The story of a Transgender who tries to affirm his own identity in a society that does not even consider her human. The reality of those who live every day the nightmare of not belonging to "normality" as if "normality" could really exist. This film shows us how transphobia and the stigma (social disapproval) of being a transgender can cause non only physical and sexual violence but also various forms of economic, professional, educational, even medical and institutional forms of discrimination. This film depicts many aspects of these constant discriminations by describing the daily of the life of a transgender woman who tries to assert her identity in a world that does everything to deny her existence. Was this review helpful to you?
This drama is worth of your time
This drama probably is one of the best dramas I have ever watched. It was able to meke me laugh, hope, cry, love and so much more. It explores the true meaning of love with a story that will definetly take your breath away. There was not even a moment in which I have not felt all the feelings that the actors wanted to transmit. The cast was perfect in every single scene and the soundtrack intensified all the emotions I felt. I could not stop shipping the main couple, they are so cute. I love their continuous bickering, it is so lovely. The main couple's love was so deep, I have no words to describe what I felt thanks to this drama. I do not know what love truly is but, if I try to immagine how it is, I would definitely describe it as the love that there is between them. This truly is a drama worth watching.

Badass female lead for a badass drama.
I love any drama where there is female empowerment. I have particularly enjoyed watching this drama because it shows a different portrait of beauty. Usually Asian dramas tend to depict females as week, gentle and prette but that is not the case. In this drama the female lead is a badass woman, sometimes rude to hide her weaknesses and sometimes gentle and the contrast between these two sides of the character is what makes her beautiful. It is what makes her real. The story is catchy and the acting cast is truly good. I loved every single character especially the second male lead. He truly is husband material. Also the second female lead was an interesting character who, in the end, recognizes her faults and accept them. The main couple was a bit off though, I wish their relationship could be build a little more. Overall, this drama is really good.

An Emotional Odyssey from Weakness to Resilience
Weak Hero Class 1 is not just a drama but a testament to the power of storytelling. It's hailed as a celebration of resilience, friendship, and the indomitable human spirit transcending the typical high school drama tropes. I strongly encourage viewers to embark on this emotional journey, as it truly is an experience that lingers in the heart long after the final episode. The drama's ability to balance intense action with profound emotion is highlighted as a standout aspect. Fight scenes are choreographed with precision, showcasing character growth and determination. Although full of fights and actions scenes the drama never loses sight of its emotional core, allowing the audience to connect with the characters on a deep level. It explores the power struggles within high school and although it might appear somehow exhagerated it portrays a realistic description of bullism. Seeing the characters getting their retribution gives an addictive feeling of immense satisfaction.
In the unyielding narrative of this drama, the refusal to subscribe to conventional notions of forgiveness becomes a powerful thematic element. The drama emphatically communicates that there's no necessity to extend forgiveness to bullies who perpetrate harm. Instead, it champions the idea that these tormentors will inevitably face their own retribution, delivering a sense of justice that resonates deeply with the audience. This stance, while unconventional, aligns with a broader message about standing resilient against those who seek to diminish us.
The drama imparts a resounding lesson: the indomitable human spirit is a force to be reckoned with. No matter our perceived weaknesses, we possess an innate strength derived from intelligence, resilience, and an unyielding will to overcome our limits and our deepest fears. Weak Hero Class 1 becomes a rallying cry, urging viewers never to cease the fight against those who attempt to push us down. The narrative invites us to recognize our collective strength, emphasizing that our intellectual fortitude and resilience can far surpass the limitations imposed by external forces.
In the face of adversity, the characters' journeys become a source of inspiration, illustrating that one's internal strength and determination can ultimately prevail over external threats. As viewers, we are encouraged not only to empathize with the characters' struggles but to internalize the message that we, too, can emerge stronger and more resilient in the face of challenges. Thus, Weak Hero Class 1 becomes more than a drama; it transforms into a testament to the enduring power of the human spirit and a call to arms against those who seek to undermine our strength and potential.
The characters were meticulously crafted and flawlessly portrayed, with performances that are described as mesmerizing. My connection with the characters, from the timid protagonist discovering his strength to the charismatic antagonist masking vulnerabilities was truly heartfelt. Moreover, the cinematography and soundtrack were flawless, each of it was a true work of art that pictured in detail the true essence of each character's journey.
This drama is perfect 10 out of 10, a ride that won't be forgotten.
