A real life lesson that will change my perception of the world, people and life forever.
I never thought I would feel this way through screenwriting or acting, but Move to heaven has no limits. I was quickly invested in the story out of empathy for Geu-roo, the main character who has no apparent form of empathy due to his Asperger Syndrome disability. The story is unique and so different from what we are used to seeing in series (internationally speaking).
The photography is so beautiful... everything is precise and meticulously crafted.
I cried every episode, but good tears.
The drama raises big questions:
- What is family?
- Is a person doomed to have a bad fate all his life?
- What is Asperger's syndrome?
- How can a person who is different (culturally, mentally, socially) fit into a society?
The duo uncle and nephew is great because of their fundamental differences: A man (Uncle - Sang gu) who is fearless, breaks all codes and is a bit of a "gangster", who has built his life alone and a youngster (Geu-roo) who has always been surrounded and helped. The contrast is so well done and in the end, both learn from each other. The difference makes them stronger.
Even though the drama is strong in emotions, it is very light to watch (10 episodes). It's very quick and that's exactly what it needs.
Thanks to the actors who are ALL exceptional.
Thanks to the writers.
Thanks to the technicians.
Thanks to everyone who worked on Move to Heaven. 10/10
