I reaaallyyy don't understand the nay-sayers here.

First of all, Nao and Uehara did enjoy their time together, it really comes out even without having rea the manga (which I have since then). Everybody says the actor wasn't showing emotions, I disagree: I remember him smiling, sometimes looking extremely kind but at the beginning. Of course bc his character starts to melt up slowly when getting familiar, then becoming friends and then lovers with Nao. I don't understand how you guys don't see all this here, sorry.

Some may say here, in the manga Uehara was nicer. Well, I've just finished reading, most of the time we can't even see his face, only his back, and yup, when we get his face, it is not always smiling (it'd be ooc btw). He sometimes smiles but most of the time he does not give a damn to anything, except Nao.
Anyway, a one-sided character, there was not much to do about him. I think the actor did the role well. Honestly, even at Twilight it is the same with Edward, there's nothing much about the character except for that he must be hot, uninterested, cold and so on... But that's the same with every other shoujou stuff.
I wouldn't say that the actor was more terrible than eg. the one in the 1st L-DK movie (imo) or any other typical shoujou. It is just that story is from the girl's perspective as always. If we consider L-DK here as a comparison, I prefer this one bc it was a bit more realistic, L-DK was way too 'high in the clouds' especially the girl.

About the acting, I didn't like the FL first but later she became better, more into character and I really like her now as an actress. I LIKE Shiraishi Shunya as an actor (I'm currently watching his Kamen Rider) but after coming here I also came to the sad realisation that I'm probably the only one or at least in the minority with this opinion. Anyway, I stick with it. I think people who don't like him they haved probably never watched pretty bad acting in doramas. Well, I have and I really think that this is not a bad one, maybe so many of you feel it so bc the actor's eyes is a bit unusual and his mimics were that too. However, it certainly isn't the worst I've ever seen in my life.
Other actors were great here too, Sakurada Dori and Tanaka Kei never gives his name to a story that is not worth at least a lil bit. So as for actors/actresses this dorama certainly is a good kickstarter, also a cheerful, fluffy dorama for boring days, only that with a bit of a boring plot (at the end their problems is a bit repetitive) but definitely a good one.

BTW all is the same in the manga (yes, Uehara too), only some minor changes so I don't understand why people here are angry with the outcome, it is very well adapted, that's just another thing that some people seem not to like the original story itself. But if so, why blame the dorama? they should take the blame (if they want that so much) on the mangaka, not on the dorama... Anyway, I even liked its 2nd season more as their story has matured a lot (which in the manga hasn't), their character too, and not to mention everybody's acting has just got better and better.

I recommend this dorama, its 2nd season even more, it is available on Netflix and if you like school romcoms like this then I really think it is a must for you!!

Great actors in a not so great story...

In the world of film/drama/movie making there are objective factors, that makes a movie/drama great and this in fact leaves many questions, it works with dubious values and sometimes it does not give a solution to a problem that it brought up on its own (eg. in the last ep he says Bo Tong should forget him as he will become a chaebol's son, inheriting the company and he should then marry from the upper class -- well, he throws these things away and marry Botong just like that?). Also, near the end, it seemed like the drama started to forget that there should be 10 women that he SEDUCES, in the end he didn't actually seduce them and it is also questionable how the 10 women is actually counted (one of them is Bo Tong, but where did he seduce her? she's the one who doesnt need that as she was already in love with him)...
so no wonder one can say it has plotholes and yes, the company's machinations that supposed to be interesting and should stick you to your chair thinking what is happening, who's who and why he doin this and that -- like a good mystery novel -- well those scenes were boring, uninteresting, no questions about it.
But!
with all of its mistakes, faults, I really loved it, enjoyed it as a typical, cliché-filled lemonade story for the weekend as I (as a person) am as crazy fan of this genre as Botong adores his pretty oppa ?
I think the actors did their bests it is just the story is not that big. But the characters I loved (especially Botong, so damn cute *.*), the women were interesting on their own, sometimes I just felt this drama wants to be so many things in a very short airing time... Some things were a bit over-explained, overthought, some scenes couldve even been dropped as they didnt add anything much to the story (like Botongs mom and brother), but JGS definitely carried this on his back, he got the looks, girl suited him, I loved his jelousy and all of his love scenes (even at the end), tho couldve been a better romance, more kiss scenes :(
their hug's were somewhat not that close, which was weird...
his personal life with his mom(s) was a bit overdramatized for me, tho I usually like maturing scenes, here I think it proves the ruin of the story, which should be a romcom and it really is at the beginning. But with overdramatizing it loses its charm gradually and it becomes less funny too. Ok that you can't be joking around in your life like forever but here we come to see the what ifs, not necessarily the reality, there couldve been more romance and still somewhat charming and funny scenes at the end, but because they kinda messed up with the plot (meaning its climax were totally at a wrong place, came too late, couldn't be resolved but only in a rush, etc.) it is no wonder charming scenes couldnt come anywhere. The way of leading the plot was the weirdest to me, but I agree with anyone who says it's a decent drama on its own, wouldn't recommend it anybody tho, only those who are suckers of romcom like me and pretty faces and some funny jelousies are enough for them to love something <3

an OK romance for a weekend, but some aspects of it shouldve been altered

well at the end I came to like this one too but def not my fav C drama, bc some aspects really annoyed me. im used to the pace of C dramas but here it realllly annyoyed me that they got together really slowly and yup a real kiss couldnt kill them at all, I have no other idea than that the actors didnt want it (maybe they were in a relationship or sth). But HERE at the end at least they couldve kissed I mean c'monnnnn theyre f*ckin main leads... but whatever, but after these long and really slow steps I really think it wouldve fitted here at the end too if he proposes as well but showing her the project only? it wouldve been nice to propose there especially bc of the meaning... and also the ending, why WHYYYYY on earth put her high school face in the very first pic, it was so disturbing to see after we saw her 'university look' later in the eps and got used to it. and this was the other factor for me, her high school look i mean I really wasnt beauty at that time too, i was kinda an ugly duckling too but cmonnn this was way too much imo, it was my very first time with dramas where i seriously couldnt bear watching her look at the beginning, even tho I watch a lot really. so many 'ugly in the beginning' faces I have seen but I wasnt bothered by them at all except by this. I think this must tell something. ok to make girls 'ugly' or unpopular, average in the beg. but you should no where the line is. creators here didnt. sorry for my harsh criticism and thank you for reading it.

Ahh this dorama is not exactly for me despite the fact I usually like these kinds. But here there's so much unnecessary cheeseness, everything is somehow too perfect to me (meaning the background, faces, clothes, those cakes...), and don't exactly like the actors, though they're not bad, I've seen many that are way better. But there's just so much scene where I should feel for the characters and yet I don't and I'm just skipping those scenes where it is easy to figure out what's gonna happen or what they gonna say. It is just ... too much sugar here. And yup, Yamazaki Kento is certainly not for me. I like his character though and of course root for him here, but as an actor... he's just handsome and that's all, he can't really act and sometimes he's just too cute (like a kid) for the cool guy role, yet he gets it everytime (not bad, though, it is just that he's not for me, that's all).
Story is okay for once, there were scenes where I really didn't kno how this gonna end so there were surprises and twists which is good, couldn't rewatch it though. Music here is especially irritating for me, sorry...
