I often read drama reviews from forums to check for their opinions & this is the first time I got so disappointed. I guess most of drama enthusiasts these days aren't ready for this kind of topic yet. But kudos to the team for gambling w/ this kind of issue.
Tbh at first, I was so disappointed when I learned abt him hiring bodyguards to follow his wife discreetly. I know it was just to protect her but it was too much. He should've asked for her opinion first.
And yes, the first few scenes was cringey. I was wondering why the ML is so clingy and flirty when he just married a STRANGER. He was never cold when it comes to his wife (wc should never be the case when it comes to plots like this) 🤔
Also, I was quite baffled w/ his unusual actions when in fact, they're just on a contract marriage. Ex:
1. Make their marriage longer (up to 7yrs)
2. Announce it to public
3. All of his assets must be shared w/ her
4. He's happy when his money is spent lavishly
5. He made her manage his weibo acct
Another point is, he was CONSISTENT. Most dramas with "contract marriage" plots have mean and cold male leads. But LYZ was not. From the beginning, he was already patient and considerate. He lets his wife decide on things as long as it doesn't harm her.
And then the PLOT TWIST came. His way of thinking was really bizarre, pretty farfetched. He was selfish (wc is probably bc he was left by his mom at a young age). And it was all due to a mental issue, a trauma. But I cannot disregard the fact that he tried.
He tried. He asked for her forgiveness. And then he slowly realized his mistakes & did his best to correct it. Flawed leads like him need patient partners, & she was a perfect example of that. She waited until he understands his mistakes & then forgave him.
Overall, the drama was well-written to be honest. But I guess one should have a broad mind first before understanding these points. Dealing with mental issues is definitely hard. 😅
