For me this is the real turning point for Dong Hoon's understanding of Ji-An. It is the point that he truly "know" her. DH's later statement "you don't really care what they do once you know someone" was referring to this moment. He learned that, at first, JA gift certificate stealing which he always believed was to save him was really self interest. It was natural for him to change his view to her, treated her coldly until he heard the reason behind her action. When he confronted the loan shark to settle her debt out of pity, and another truth revealed: she killed his father. DH reaction was heartbreaking, "I would have done the same!"At this point, JA who was listening and running to save him, something she always did, stopped dead and started sobbing. I mean really *crying*, not just tears rolling on the face.As if it was the first time in her life that someone told her "it's OK, it's not a big deal, and I would have done exactly as you did. "Not only that her murder of GI's father was the past she would want to hide the most, it was also the reason she endured GI. She took all kinds of abuses from him as a payback for killing his father. She kept on surviving , not living, just to take care of her grandma and repay the debts, financially for her mother, taking care of her granny, and killing GI father. With DH sympathizing her past action, it just set her free.I couldn't imagine what she would decide to do once her 3 debts were all settled if she didn't hear what DH said to GI.
