There are many reviews stating how bad-ass Geum-ja is, which is the central reason I am watching this K-drama, but my hopes have been dashed in this episode. I'm trying to imagine how she might redeem herself in further episodes, to harner so much admiration?! IMO any woman who knowingly, and actively delivers another woman into the hands of her abuser, is unforgiveable.

Episode 2 Already starts to fill in the characters and hints that the plot is more complex than just "Serial killer vs Investigstor". If you liked "Killing Eve" (an English tv series) you'll probably like this.

A densely packed episode, that travels at a pace some may find too fast, but I think accurately depicts how life actually is. You think you're just getting a handle on one thing and the next thing happens...Along with the leads, there are masterful performances from the child actors and moving performances from guest actors - perfect renditions of the many aspects of grief as well as survivor's guilt. It reminds us of the importance of compassion even more than forgiveness; and letting go of resentment.

OMG The mansplaining about how to give birth. The public shaming of your food choices. The moments of emotional absence followed by excruciating self-judgement. The normalisation of the incredibly abnormal. This is awesomely, hilariously accurate.

The editing to blur Kim Hye-Soo's skin, became so distracting in this episode, I kept having to rewind to pay attention to what she was saying. Frustrating as hell on every level!
