FINALLY A GOOD XIANXIA DRAMA!!!!

The wait is over, we finally have a really good xianxia with a good plot, most beautiful costumes, top star stellar actors, awesome sceneries and quite good music!!!

Where do I begin? I have been rooting for Luo Yunxi ever since I've seen him in Ashes of Love. Next drama I saw him in was Love is Sweet and although I dropped that one (modern dramas are just not my cup of tea, nothing else) but the chemistry between him and Bai Lu was perfect. I was so happy to see these two together again!

One thing is clearly visible; the two main actors must have had LOTS of fun with this drama. You don't need to check out the BTS scenes to see that. The way they turn to each other, look at each other, act with each other is like watching top tennis players.

I am especially happy about LUO YUNXI's multifaceted role. That guy has as many sides as a D&D dice. The perfect ML for any role. He's the broken, abused hostage prince, he's the maniac new ruler, he's the righteous and honourable heaven lord, he's anything he needs to be for this role.

We seriously needed BAI LU as a headstrong, brave, daring, smart, intelligent FL. I am quite fed up with the whining, mentally handicapped FL trope which seems to be trending lately, so it is quite refreshing to have someone who finally acts and does things.

There are so many outstanding scenes which just have to be rewatched again and again. Like the snowball fight between the main characters, or the way Tantai Jin conducts the blood crows. For a dancer, like LUO YUNXI, this scene must had been a pleasure to act out and it is so visible.

We also get a handful of beloved 'veteran' actors, like He Zhonghua, Deng Wei, or Wang Yifei. My personal new favourite, however, is the newcomer Sun Zhenni, in the role of the lovely and cunning fox demon. The moment you see her, you love her. I strongly hope she's going to get together with FL's bro, it's not like she would be the first demonic entity in the Ye family.

The CGI is top, especially after the disappointing The Journey of Chongzi. The river serpent for example, was so very well done, it truly looked perfect.

The costumes are from another world!!!! I had to stop several scenes just to marvel at the details, the colours, the hairstyles, the accessories!!!! They accentuate the characters' nature and feelings so perfectly!

Can't wait for the oncoming episodes!!

Zhu Zanjin evolution

I love this drama. It is like traditional Chinese food, containing the 5 main taste; salty, spicy, bitter, sweet, acidic. The heroine is a bit annoying at the beginning, but sweet and nice. The story is a bit confusing at first, but captivating. Costumes are beautiful, so is the scenery.

I LOVE Zhu Zanjin and it's no secret I have begun to watch this drama solely because of him, but by now all the other actors are also growing on me. At any rate, Zanzan pretty much delivers here. He might come off as the hysterical whining spoiled little rat at first, but as it turns out, this is only the surface and he's been through a lot. Kudos to the actor for being able to pull off the two sides of his character; the suffering, depressed, hopeless, broken hostage prince and the arrogant, insecure, deeply hurt Regent. It's not less what I would expect from the actor of Jin Guangyao. I am very curious what his character's fate might be this time.

Li Hongyi makes me laugh every time I see him, in a positive way. He looks just SO DONE with everything and everyone - and with a good reason -, but deeply, he cares.

A drama definitely worth to watch. Might hit you as light and funny, sometimes even boring first, but gradually it gets deeper, darker and captivating, with the main characters harbouring deep, unspoken secrets. It is breathtaking to see things unfold.

I am trying to do my best

I really try to keep up with The Journey of Chongzi, but gosh, I just EFFIN hate the pouting, imbecile, annoying sweetie-cutie FL trope. I AM SO FED UP WITH HER. I really would like to watch it because of the other actors and the beautiful costumes, but gosh. Also, the most disgusting and lazy CGI ever. I am sorry, but not even Wang Zhuocheng is going to save the day. What is with all these stupid, ignorant and childish female leads recently? Who in their right mind would think that grown ass men would fall for young girls who behave as mentally challenged, LITERALLY ALL THE TIME.

Rolling in tears

I am only at episode 5, but I am rolling on the floor, teary with laughter. It is such a funny, light, tongue-in-cheek drama/comedy!! The only thing making me upset is that the episodes are really short:(

Not gonna lie, I signed up for this because of sweet psycho murder baby Wang Haoxuan, aka Xue Yang of The Untamed. I didn't expect much from the lead actress, but like her already a lot. Oh, this is going to be so much fun. Just what I need now. If I had to compare this drama to anything, this is like sitting outside a flowery tree during spring, with a nice cup of tea and cake. Pure enjoyment without anxiety bits.
