Underrated unrefined gem

Okay. I feel the need to defend this short drama bc of all the negative reviews.

Actually, first you have to realise, that it is a short drama. 8 episodes- 15 minutes each. And that might be the reason why some people rate it that low - ''it's not finished''; ''There's too much plot and too little time''. Yes, valid. But. In this drama's defense, the difficult plot was well-adapted and well-paced.

I loved that this drama portrayed traumas that people have and how it affects their daily life and relationships with people. It was not hidden, not vaguely mentioned, it was very realistic in this aspect:
You get the back story of the main lead guy, who's dealing with PTSD and panic disorder bc of his past relationship. He's an ex-trainee with a beautiful voice who is now working as a wedding singer and vocal coach. You get to see how he's interacting with people, and his fear of contact with others, and large crowds.
Also his love interest - he becomes charmed by the main lead's voice and that's how he starts to pursue him- how romantic is that!

ALSO
Actually... this was a pretty unique story, not overused, not overdone. The main lead couple makes smart, realistic, not always positive decisions, gets hurt, try to fix problems ... There are no overly sweet or cringe moments, awkward lines, or non-realistic plot. So if you're looking for only fluff - this one's not for you. From one side it's dealing with very serious topics, but also it tries to focus on the healing journey of the main character and on moving on.

ROMANCE? UMMMMM,.... YES!
Yes, there were a feww cute moments. And taken into consideration that this is a very very short drama - there was a lot of them, so if you're thinking - ''Are they only gonna hold hands'' YES AND A LOT MORE.
Chemistry for me was 10/10. I found the main lead couple very charming and cute. let's just say they had their cute moments and nice montages.

MUSIC!
OH BABY how amazing and sweet it was. Finally, a drama where a soundtrack is not forgotten and is well used. Loved loved all the songs.

Room for improvement:
Definitely wanted a bit more explained about what happened to the 'evil person'. Bc of the length of this drama, you kind of get vague hints, but it ends just there.

IF YOU'RE THINKING - SHOULD I WATCH THIS? BC THERE ARE MANY BAD REVIEWS THAT SAY I WILL WASTE MY TIME...
YES, YOU SHOULD!
YES. This drama will warm your heart, make u angry, make u feel all the right emotions, and feel happy in the end. Yes, it's worth it.

Simple, but a bit disappointing

I was waiting for this drama to come out and was very excited, because I loved the movie "So I married an Anti-fan" with Park Chanyeol. That movie was light, simple but very lovely and while there were a lot of comedic scenes the whole movie until the ending was beautifully filmed and I loved the whole plot of it.
When it comes to the 2021 drama of So I married an anti-fan... It's a bit disappointing. I have to admit, the first half of the series were pretty good, made me excited to wait for the next episodes... and then it went downhill. Many important parts were over-rushed and some just disappeared and lost it's meaning. Main lead girl - at first I could relate to her - she was annoyed at everyone and sassy and did what she wanted, but in the last episodes - it was kind of pathetic. She becomes a very one-dimensional character and there is not so much u can add to that. The guy - he does things that he doesn't have to do as well and I'm just disappointed that they chose to do the last episodes like that. It's as if the last few episodes were written by a completely different writer or producer... The plot doesn't make sense, main guy does whatever non-sensical illogical things that he doesn't even have to do, BUT IT'S THE CLIMAX OF THE WHOLE DRAMA, SOMETHING HAAAAS TO GO "WRONG"... and while some cliche dramas make it seem cute or make it make sense... this one doesn't. It's as if they had to do it because it was the climax of the story, but not because it was logical or added something to it.
Don't want to spoil it, but if you're looking for a drama with a good and original ending - that's not it, sis. It gets very cliche at the end(and not in a cute and beautiful cliche way) - I honestly couldn't watch last episode not cringing. They made the ending so awful that the whole drama that I kind of liked before the last episode got ruined for me. All the romance got washed away because it was put in front of u so bluntly and without any shame.
Now, for the positive things, because although I really hate the ending... I fell in love with Choi Soo Young. She's such a great actress - beautiful as hell and of course - I loved her acting(last episodes were not hers as an actress fault) and she made it seem so simple and beautiful. Really memorable actress that I now will remember and watch all of her other upcoming dramas. Choi Tae Joon - it was my first drama that I watched with him as a main lead guy. Yep, he's charming and I really felt the chemistry between the main lead actors. They were really cute together, so if you're a sucker for cute romantic scenes between the main leads then it's a must to watch! They did a really great job.
SO, SHOULD YOU WATCH IT?
- Yes. Give it a chance. Ending might disappoint you, but you will enjoy this light and simple drama for sure. It's great for ppl who want something simple but cute and adorable with not too much drama or cliffhangers,
WOULD I REWATCH IT?
- probably no. At least, not for a while. The ending made me mad a bit, so as I'm writing it I'm still feeling pretty pissed at the way they decided to end it. But if later I decide to rewatch it - it will be because of the cute romantic scenes between the main couple.

Actually, it's a pretty amazing drama.
Now for the things I liked about this drama.
Of course, the main lead girl - Jin Seo Min(Oh Yeon Seo) is amazing. Her acting is impeccable. I really loved all her outfits and her simple hairstyles in this drama. It was not over the top and very natural, showing even more how her character is well put together from the outside, but actually, it's just a facade. Jin Seo Min is actually really lonely and scared. She is feared by all people that surround her because of her abilities to see demons. So she grew up alone and separated from kids at school. No one wanted to be friends with her. And as she is now an adult, her only living family despises her and calls her a freak, unlucky girl. One thing I didn't like about her is her selfishness. She actually didn't think about the feelings of Son Oh Gong and how much he might be hurt by her trying to trap him. She only thought about herself. And you might think that a woman, who has went through so much shitty stuff in life at least would be considerate of others, but no!
Main guy - Son Oh Gong(Lee Seung Gi)...He's...how should I say it... Very different from other main lead guys in other k-dramas that I've watched. Maybe that was why it was so refreshing to see such new character and his persona. And I still can't forget about his iconic coat - it's amazing. And so is his style. In this drama all of the characters have amazing style which I love and adoooore.
Minuses. There was one annoying minus. Special effects. Why did they make all the magic and supernatural things look soooo bad? For example, when Ma Wang shows his real self by floating surrounded by fire he looks very comical and the effects are very badly done. Don't know, maybe that is the joke, maybe it was supposed to be this way but it bothered me a little bit. All the magic and non-realistic stuff are pretty bad, not going to lie. If you can look past all that then it's definitely worth watching it.

Now, a bit ending spoilers ahead:
The ending was anticlimactic, if you compare it to all episodes before. WHY? Because Jin Seo Min basically was not important at all. Through the whole episodes it was hinted that she will be the cause, that only she can change the ending,...but basically...She wasn't needed. And as usual, the guy saves the day and the world. Because we can't have a different ending where a female girl FINALLY DOES SOMETHING SIGNIFICANT!!!!(I'm writing this just as I finished watching this, so excuse my ranting). So overall... I didn't enjoy the ending. It was not...pleasant at all. Things that should have mattered didn't, and things that shouldn't - were made important...At the end...I was more interested in side character stories than the main lead couple.

NOW SHOULD YOU WATCH THIS DRAMA?
Simple answer - yes. If you are okay with so-so ending, but very cute episodes in the middle and series that happen in these times but also jump back to the past. If I knew the ending before, probably I'd still watch it, because chemistry between the main couple was very good and I loved side-characters.

Gem that more people should know about!

AAAAAhhh! I can't tell you enough how much emotions this drama evoked in me! This was truly a rollercoaster ride full of harsh and realistic life elements and cute simple moments.
I should mention first, that I watched this drama two years ago, I think. And I dropped it in about episode 4, because at that time I just hated that the guy is younger than the girl. Now that I think about it - I actually don't know why this bothered me so much, that I had to drop it. Probably I was too young and immature then to understand that it's okay. Whatever your age is it's okay to be in love. And gradually this drama as the episodes go only get better. So if you stopped at around episode 4 - just give it one more chance, you'll not regret it. I'm so grateful I randomly decided to look through my ''dropped k-dramas'' list and give one more chance to this one.
I'm not going to spoil anything, just want to tell you how incredible this whole drama was.
I haven't seen such drama in a long time - main lead guy so adorable and mature, he had such a great chemistry with the main girl that the so called ''age difference'' for me didn't bother me at all. And I was more annoyed about her family and everyone else around them that didn't want to accept them as a couple and made their age gap such a big deal when it wasn't.
The main idea of the drama was that despite all the differences it's important to stand up for what you believe in and what you love - whether that be your sexist and creepy co-workers or a guy that you love, but can't because everyone says you can't. I loved that about this drama.
You can definitely see the whole progress and character development throughout the whole drama. I felt that the main lead guy was always acting mature - more mature than the main girl, so he just stayed that way throughout the drama. The biggest development was the main lead girl. She was so scared to stand up for herself in her workplace and just agreed with everything everyone said, you could even say that she didn't have a backbone and while her age said she was mature - in fact, she was acting like a little girl, who doesn't know how the world works. I guess I can say that her meeting the guy was her maturing moment. He taught her to be strong and not tolerate people who use her for their own benefit - to speak up. SO I LOVED THAT.
One thing also I want to mention - soundtrack. At first I really liked it - actually I still do, I love all the songs in this k-drama. However, I must point out that the music lyrics are very ...how should I say it - bad. They don't fit this drama at all...because, f.e. the main song - ''Stand by your man'' - is a song about a woman who says that she has to be there for the man and forgive him for everything, because he's ''just a man''. It's kind of a sexist song who really does not go with this drama's concept of a woman who is self-sufficient and self-dependent and who stands up for herself and does not rely only on her man. So this song, although the melody is nice, I hated the meaning of the lyrics. So I just had to point this out.
Maybe the ending was a bit too rushed for my liking, especially since the episodes are more than one hour long, so I wished that at least half of the last episode was meant for the great ending of this drama, not just the last 10 minutes. However, I guess for this kind of realistic and raw drama - it fits. Like in life - some things that are hard and stressful last a lifetime and short fleeting moments of happiness end in a second.
All in all - really good drama, especially for people who enjoy watching realistic dramas about real struggles of life. It's about how life is all about the little things and moments with the people we love and that age should not matter as much as your happiness. Because if you can be happy with the person you love - that's all that matters.
Is it worth watching? - YES. Is it worth rewatching - YES AND YES.

One word for this movie: lovely. It has such a fresh feel when you start watching it, and although it does not have a lot of plot-twists, it is definitely worth watching. I loved the chemistry between the main lead actors and the little gestures or emotions that they portrayed in a few scenes were spot - on and looked very realistic. I loved the fact that it was a light movie, the one that warms your heart, but also can make you think about how people get used to their daily routine and same people and not even realise that they are not happy. What surprised me the most was the bluntness of the main lead actor, at least the first 20 minutes of the movie, I've never seen it in any Korean movies ever that I have watched. And about the storyline...I can definitely say that it is realistic(except the ending, of course...), I liked how the movie showed a bit closed-off woman and her thought process when a man suggests her to have a one-night-stand.
This movie shows people that love does not have to start in a specific way, it can happen in an instant, wherever, whenever. At any time, or the least when you expect it. It also gives the watchers many thoughts about marriage and pressure to get married as soon as possible. And also makes you think a lot about relationships... whether that be a one-night-stand or a serious relationship...
I usually never write reviews about movies or dramas, but I had to write one for this, it is just too good of a movie to miss out on.
