Not so historical, not a great romance

It's a fair distraction to kill some time, though a bit boring in some political parts. Could easily have 16 episodes (one hour each).

Historically there's a lot of flaws, if you care about it, don't watch. Is a good story if you want to watch some totally made up plot to emphasize the need of records managing, and the struggles it may brings.

About romance, if you want some sweet fluffy romance that makes you sigh, is not the case. A little bit of romance and comedy, the right amount if you don't want to feel depressed cause you're single.

Eun Woo character was too comical at beginning, and at some point it was a little bit annoying. I think Se Kyung is very pretty but her romantic scenes always make me disappointed, really seems like Eun Woo was kissing a door.

Crown Prince and officer Min got my attention, nice acting.

Overall, not a really great story, some clichés, some loose ends, but it's decent. But they try to make it less sexist, and in a historical scenario it doesn't fit very well.

Portrait of a companionship

It's a nice drama for those who love books. The struggles behind writing and publishing are so interesting, I really don't know if it's like this in reality or if they just romanticized, but for sure is interesting. Some story odd parts made me think "gosh, why?", but I just decided to not be so demanding, and accepted it in my heart.

Dan Yi and Seo Joon relationship was so dreamy, and I just loved the dog. They lost a great chance of steal our hearts just because they had a dog in scene. But I would totally fall in love if I get that scallion plush toy.

All secondary roles were so full of life, and I really appreciate they gave us an ending for each one.

My complainings goes to main couple, of course. I've seen Jong Suk in a few romantic roles, always playing this good boy, and is never disappointing, though sometimes I can't help but thinking it could be a bit different role. First time watching Na Young acting and it was okay, but nothing remarkable, although really broke my heart how she was always emotionless even when Eun Ho was putting so much effort to make her realize he had feelings for her. Even kissing scenes were super meh. But I do admit their relationship is a portrait of how companionship should be, spending time together, supporting and caring for each other.

So if you're not eager to watch super breath-taking kisses, it's a good drama.

Beautiful art for the children's book

Ye Ji interpretation as a selfish and annoying woman is perfect. Makes me wonder if she's really like that in real life. Her outfits are so remarkable, and you can see their changes alongside with her personality, through time.

Soo Hyun makes a good effort to portrait a guy who's always holding his feelings.

The story isn't a great surprise, but there's not great loose ends either. I think the interesting thing here is the psychological approach, to understand characters motivations, traumas and how to deal with it.

But by far, my appreciation for this drama are the books. The animated the books and I felt like a child, thinking how amazing all of that was. The lines, the colors, the music, everything was so immersive. Amazing.

A romantic story, but not the goal

It's not a must-see, if you're not Bo Gum fan.

There's a lot of secondary stories and they don't finalize the majority of them.

The romance is cute, but a bit cheesy. I think it's okay to be cheesy when you're in love, and they tried to show the couple's jokes and things like that.

For me, it feels like a drama to promote Bo Gum skills, and I confess I would certainly watch him as a bad guy. Not sure if I consider a great acting, but I believed in him when he stands as a good guy, doing the right thing.

I don't think it's a great romantic story, cuz it wasn't the main focus. The main focus is the protagonist decisions about life. If you watch with romance in mind, will be disappointed.
