Episode 4 Review

Episode 4 was a decently paced episode. However, in comparison to the previous three, viewers will definitely notice its slower pacing. In the early portion of the episode, the antics were all there, however, and I must say that it was pretty funny. I find that the main reason why the episode has a slower pacing is because the writers are using this episode to build up for a conflict that will eventually, if not soon, break out. The main thing that kept the momentum of the episode going was indeed the comedy because once tension started rising and matters got serious, the episode's slower pacing began to show.

Episode 6 Review

Finally, another episode that's bringing back the pacing that the backstory episodes had! I was very pleased by this episode's pacing and content. We got everything from action and tension to antics. A huge portion of this episode was well-executed and pieces are slowly fitting in. My only concern is that I can't help but have a mixed opinion about the actor playing Prince Wolgang and the current King. While both had scenes that were convincing, there were other times that I felt they didn't have enough expression (or they weren't believable). Other than that, the casting is solid and I'm looking forward to the direction the plot will take us in the next few weeks.

Episode 5 Review

I'm not sure why, but I feel that some of this episode was hard to follow. So far, this drama has been really plot intensive. However, in between weekly releases, I tend to forget some things and feel like it's detracting from the quality of the overall quality of the drama and each episode, too. On the bright side, besides the opening antics, the episode caught a lot of momentum when it focused more on the story than trying snatch a few laughs. While the pacing was great in this episode, I spent a nice amount of time as the episode went on trying to piece the plot together. I feel that the writers are beginning to find a formula that works for them, however; I feel like this episode (and the previous four as well) were all missing something. Regardless, that doesn't mean I think this drama is bad. I just feel that this whole production, by the looks of things, would be better to watch in a marathon than by weekly release.

Episode 3 Review

Overall, episode 3 is an eventful and well-paced episode. The scenes were shot well, and the path they decided to take in terms of plot advancement was some what expected. However, it was definitely done nicely. The part I liked most in this episode was the transition. I feel that the transition out of the back story was done before, but regardless, it was well done. FINALLY, we are seeing the adult cast come in, and I'm glad they didn't spend more time giving back story (especially since people are harshly criticizing this potent drama SIMPLY due to it containing a back story). In terms of the scenes introducing the adult cast, I feel that I was generally able to discern who was who, but there were some circumstances that I wasn't able to tell (and it could be because I forgot who was Wolgang and Ki San as a kid or they were just being introduced for the first time). Lastly, I personally got confused in some of the closing scenes dealing with the antagonist, but I was still able to live with it.

P.S. Grown Do Ha is extremely pretty!

Episode 1 Review

Episode 1 contained a lot of action scenes without deterring the introduction of the plot line. I was pleasantly surprised by the action choreography and by the pacing. Although the producers have decided to start with back story, the pacing of it is manageable because the action scenes are placed strategically well. My biggest complaint is the writing at certain parts, as I questioned some of the decisions they made, but everything should become clearer in episode 3 or 4. For those speculating, let more episodes come out and read episode reviews/recaps and base your decision from there. This drama doesn't deserve criticism primarily because they decided not to start off with the adult cast. Besides, the back story may not be flawless, but it definitely is worthy giving a shot.

Episode 2 Review

Overall, episode 2 was tension-filled and decently paced. A lot of it picks up toward the ending, but it's not to say that the beginning and middle portions were slow. The build up was nice and the placement of the action scenes were nice. The actor playing the King does a great job of portraying his character under his current state and his expressions were believable. In addition, the supporting roles such as the King's son play very convincing parts in this particular episode. For those wondering whether they should watch this drama, I suggest to give it a shot. And also, for those pondering between not watching and watching, I suggest that they let more episodes come out with the adult cast and then base their opinions from there.
