I want the male lead from season 1 back!
While I am glad that a second season of this show was created, I am not satisfied with the male lead in this season.
Kim Tae Hwan brought a different aura to this role...he was more serious and played more of a reflective role. He also had a different physique than the male lead in this season's show. Because Kim Tae Hwan's physique was more strikingly different, it brought a more regal feel to the show. Thus, I deeply missed Kim Tae Hwan in this season's show.
I liked how Esther Yu played the main character because her portrayal was almost identical to that of Janice Wu's. Both actresses were able to convey the female lead's spunky and optimistic personality, which is one of the best attributes of the character. Thus, I had no problem with Esther Yu's portrayal.
The new characters were interesting but they seemed to have been stuffed in the series to add a different take to season 2. They all did a pretty sound job in their roles (especially Li Ge Yang; who conveyed a spunky and almost naïve personality that was quite believable, mostly because he has such a youthful face); the only character I did not like was the Ye Mei Xiao character. In all honesty, I hate characters who resort to what comes off as stalking-like behavior...even when the other one is telling them to stop. It sends the wrong message, especially to young and impressionable people.
I have to admit that I am still watching it, but am yearning for Kim Tae Hwan's presence in this work. This is what makes me waver a bit but I will push through the chapters.
