I didn't take this show that seriously - And you shouldn't either

I want to start this review by saying that this show doesn't take itself seriously, and neither should you.
I started watching this show because I'm familiar with the actors, and I knew they would do a great job. I wasn't wrong; this show has some amazing acting that manages to convey all the right emotions.

But aside from that, the actors couldn't possibly save this show from the bad writing. The narrative lacks depth, and it keeps going in circles. I get that they had to maintain a certain level of drama, but why not thicken the existing plotlines instead of creating unnecessary ones? Instead of focusing on the main characters relationships, how they had to improve themselves, or maybe what goes outside the relationships (jobs, families, etc.), they created a bunch of side characters and useless drama that adds no substance to the story. They came and went, sometimes without a clear resolution.

Let's talk about the characters. I heard so many opinions about how every single one of them matured and improved themselves by the end of the series, but honestly, I don't see it. The only character that really changed throughout was Ray. He started as a very superficial, self-centered rich brat but managed to see how that hurt the people around him and decided, at his own volition, to change. Even though there is still room for improvement, we can assume he won't fall into the same traps again if Sand is by his side.

Can we say the same thing about Boston? No. Although he decided to apologize for all the trouble he caused and start a serious relationship with Nick, the last episode speaks for itself. He didn't change his habits, and he is not willing to. He only tried to do so to satisfy Nick's wishes. At the end, he still hurt his feelings by cheating on him at the bar and acting like it wasn't that important. It's clear he didn't learn from his mistakes. My only hope is that Nick manages to find someone better than Ton and love himself a bit more, even if right now it's clear he still has feelings for him.

As for Top, he's somewhat of a mysterious type. The story didn't dive as deep into his character as I wanted. From the very beginning, I had a strong belief that he had sincere feelings for Mew, despite falling victim to Ton's manipulation, which resulted in him cheating on Mew. And so, when he called Boeing, his ex, over, I was very surprised. It was unexpected because Top didn't seem like the kind of person who would risk Mew's trust after working so hard to regain it. I'm left wondering how Mew forgave him so easily for that. Did Top truly change, or are there more layers to his character that we didn't get to see?

Let's also touch on the fan service aspect of the show. Towards the end, it became noticeable that nearly every character kissed each other. It left me wondering if these scenes were primarily for viewer enjoyment rather than serving a deeper purpose in character development or plot progression.
The end of the series was also left open, leaving many plotholes behind and keeping the potential for a second season.

In conclusion, if you're up for a light and occasionally brilliant watch, this series has its moments. But if you're into something with a more serious and coherent storyline, you might want to look elsewhere.

Should have I expected more?

Before watching this series, I had high expectations because of the overall very positive reviews and the interesting plot.
Was I disappointed? Not really, but I think this series could have been so much more.
It started pretty well, and I was getting really invested in the story... but then it slowly became less interesting, and the plot holes started to pile up.
The whole "social commentary" message this show tried to convey was executed beautifully, and the diversity of the different characters surprised me in a good way. Besides that, everything was mid.

The story was sometimes very messy, and other times it kept going in circles. At one point, White just stops looking for the people who beat up his brother and forgets that's the main reason he's there with his friends. Tot, who's supposed to be the hidden villain, disappears in the middle of the show, and honestly, I forgot about him until the plot twist came.

The whole Gram-Eugene-Black situation was messy, and the way they decided to go with it wasn't good enough for me. It left a sour taste in my mouth. Also, unpopular opinion, I wasn't a big fan of the second couple, Yok and Dan. I get what they tried to portray, but I wasn't feeling for them. Maybe they were not my cup of tea? Either way, some of the decisions they made seemed irrational, and I felt like they got back together way too fast, given the situation.

The ending was very rushed, and it didn't conclude anything. It left behind so many loose ends and could have been so much better. I think I would enjoy a second season where they wrap up some of the plot holes and give the characters a proper ending.

In conclusion, this drama wasn't perfect, but it had its good moments. It is not for everyone, and depending on your personal preference, you might like it or not. For me, despite the original plot and powerful message, this drama had forgettable couples that didn't add much to the story.
The series had its strengths in its thought-provoking social commentary, diverse characters, and original plot. Although it had some flaws with messy storytelling and unresolved plot holes, it remained an engaging watch with its strong messages and unique elements, and I appreciated the overall positive aspects it offered.

Lost in the Multiverse of Disappointment

I'm writing this review because I was left very disappointed by this special.

My School President is one of my favorite GMMTV BLs not only because of the chemistry and dynamic of the main couple but also because of the friendship plotline that brings the meaning of the series to a whole new level.

After reading the plot of this, I was interested to see how they would adapt all of my favorite scenes and if they would bring something new to the table. I'm not familiar with the "multiverse" tag, but I would watch everything as long as there's TinnGun starring in it.

From the start, everything about the writing seemed lazy and messy. They adapted some scenes from the original series without trying to give this special a logical sense, timeline, or story on its own. A few had no business being adapted, in particular the scene where Gun's mom collapses and is taken to the hospital by Tinn. That scene serves as a turning point in the story, and it's very sentimental. Here, they just mock it by making Tinn's mom casually sleep on the floor. How is that supposed to make me feel? Why did they even include it in this special if they just forgot about it seconds later? They completely ruined its significance.

Also, am I the only one upset that Tinn and Gun didn't kiss? They made the side couple share a kiss, but not the main one? I'm not that mad because they were sweet and slow-paced in the original, but it just felt like their relationship regressed and they didn't develop it at all. The side couples were given more screentime and overall had better scenes.

Another thing I'm not okay with is the fact that they seem to have forgotten what made My School President popular in the first place. It is a story about friendship, chasing your dreams, and learning to overcome failure, and overall, it is much more than what this special reduced it to.

The only scene I truly enjoyed was the music video in the last episode. I liked how they referenced the other BLs, but it seemed out of place and random. I can only imagine how confused someone who hasn't watched any of the series referenced would be.

Until the last moments, I hoped they would include a few minutes where we see Tinn and Gun in the original universe. Maybe a glimpse of their university life, but they decided to give us nothing.

In conclusion, Our Skyy 2: My School President fell short of expectations with lazy writing and mishandled important scenes that took away from what made the original series special, leaving me feeling disappointed and unsatisfied.

Not bad but not good.

I hated how this BL portrayed TaeKyung's and ShinWoo's relationship.
At the beginning of this drama, I was pretty much rooting for them to end up together since their personalities clashed. I really enjoy enemies to lovers stories, and I thought this was going to be one of them... And then everything went downhill.

After TaeKyung and DaOn started catching feelings for each other, the story only revolved around them, leaving ShinWoo's character to the side. The love triangle transformed into ShinWoo being the third wheel.
This could have been resolved if they had made them break up explicitly and focused on ShinWoo and TaeKyung, but until the last episode, TaeKyung and DaOn openly said they liked each other, and they seemed to work on their relationship.
ShinWoo stopping TaeKyung in the last episode really made him choose him over DaOn? What would have happened if he wasn't there to do that? Yeah, this didn't sit right with me.

Realistically, this drama had some good moments and some funny scenes, but it failed to make me feel for the main couple. Everything has been set up for TaeKyung and DaOn to continue their relationship, including things like the bracelet and DaOn finally saying he likes him. They could have just gone the easy way and made them end up together in the final episode.
Even though I originally rooted for ShinWoo, in the end, he just seems like a replacement.

In conclusion, the BL drama fell short of my expectations as it sidelined ShinWoo's character and prioritized TaeKyung and DaOn's relationship, leaving ShinWoo feeling like a replacement with a resolution that didn't satisfy.

Lost interest halfway.

Don't get me wrong, I was really invested in this drama since the first trailer came out... But after watching it I feel a little disappointed. It started really well but after the 3rd episode I couldn't really see where it was headed. For me it could had just ended there.
The second half of this drama was hard to watch. The change of characters made it hard to sympathize with them and the plot...(if there even was one) had so many holes. The concept was GOOD but the way they decided to develop it is such a waste of potential.
I feel like this drama could had been so much more...but as it is now I'm not even interested in a second season. Overall I give it a 7/10.

Fell off towards the end, but overall a great watch

Starting off, I want to say this BL series has an incredible storyline. It effortlessly blends together romantic, sad, and funny scenes, making you go through a rollercoaster of emotions every episode.

As I went it blind, I still had pretty high expectations seeing all the high rating reviews, and I wasn't disappointed.
The time-traveling trope hooked me in from the first episode, coupled with all the compassion I had for the main character, Jom. I left completely attached to all he was going through, as if Ohm had carved a hole in my heart as well.
As for the main couple, I loved their chemistry so much. The creators weren't scared to show some intimate, vulnerable scenes between them, and I'm genuinely grateful for that.

The second couple, Fongkaew and Ueangphueng, were also fine. However, I couldn't shake the feeling that we needed more scenes delving into their relationship, mostly because they are already together at the beginning of the series, and they don't elaborate on how they fell in love at all. Their future seems to be uncertain, as the last episode leaves me rather confused.

One character in this series that deserves more love is James. Although at the beginning I thought he was going to be stuck as a generic second lead, he proved himself to be so much more than that. He is a walking green flag and they should consider giving him a spin-off series where he finally finds love

What ultimately led me to rate this series an 8.5 were the final three episodes. I won't go into details, as to avoid spoilers, but instead of keeping the same pacing as all the other episodes, they decided to wrap up the main conflict early and keep us wondering about the future of our main character for a bit. It was unbearably slow, worsened by the inclusion of unnecessary scenes that ended up creating major plot holes. I honestly feel they could have handled those episodes better.

In conclusion, despite its flaws, I would recommend this series to any fan of the genre.

Love, Racing, and Missed Potential

First of all, I started this series with the hope of finding some fresh air in this genre. Unfortunately, I quickly became bored by the lack of plot in the first few episodes. Despite this, I decided to give it another chance and trust the process. Having now finished the series, I can say that, in my opinion, it fell short in a few areas.

There is a lack of plot in this series, and I wish they would have given more screentime to some side characters. I would have loved to learn more about Pai's siblings or their other friends, but we rarely saw them, and they added nothing to the plot. The way their love stories develop seems way too fast, and I would have enjoyed some more push and pull between them, especially for Rain and Payu. As for the second couple, Sky and Pai, I appreciated the efforts made to make their relationship as healthy as it could be.

I'm not afraid of stories that deal with sensitive topics, and I'm able to enjoy them if they are executed correctly.
In the case of this series, it all felt a little rushed, and it brushed off important issues that could have added so much more to the story and left a bigger impact on the viewers.

Also, there are not enough racing scenes! The story circles around the organized racing events, but the scenes where we actually see the characters race are limited.

Overall, this series had some really enjoyable moments that made me laugh and sometimes feel for the characters. Although the writing is questionable at times and cringeworthy at others, it left me wanting for more.

Short and to the point

To be completely honest, I started this drama for Jiwoong, but after a few episodes, I found myself really enjoying it.
This BL is no different from the others with the same theme and it's very formulaic, but at the same time,it's executed gracefully and it keeps you entertained.
There are lots of funny and unrealistic moments where you know not even the drama is taking itself too seriously. There are times where it misses being funny and it goes straight to cringe, but it's not that often so it didn't bother me that much.
The chemistry between the two leads is good, not perfect, but it shows it's not their first work together as a couple.
As for the story, I'm a bit disappointed it didn't go deeper into the side characters, but it's understandable since it's a short series.
If you're looking for a soft and simple kdrama, this is for you.

Soft and lighthearted story

This jumped into this drama expecting nothing but the usual clichés and tropes, and that's what I got... Except is executed in a pleasant and enjoyable way, which makes this one of the few Korean BLs I actually enjoyed watching.
It comes with it's flaws and it isn't perfect, but it really surprised me with how good the chemistry is and how the story comes together even though is really short.
I like how it approaches a topic like fear of separation, and it made me feel close to the characters.
Overall this kdrama is worth your time, so don't hesitate watching it!

Good Quality Kdrama

I really enjoyed watching this Kdrama. Even though the first episodes were kinda confusing (I shold mention: this was my first medical drama) since I didn't understand how the whole hospital staff hierarchy works, the story really grew into me. The characters are all very different and unique, and you can surely find someone you can relate to. Overall this kdrama is enjoyable, funny at times, full of friendships moments that will make you desire to have that kind of relationship with someone. Would surely recommend.
