Disappointed for the first GL ever

I wanted to like this so bad because we're finally getting GL representation, to the point were I had to force myself to continue this show. Story was meh at best, not even a good typical story, I did feel like nothing made sense, neither in their relationship nor with the environment around them. I will admit that the actors did their best with what they were given, but the whole story was handled poorly.
Also am I the only one who felt like the side characters were guests on the show? we don't know anything about them.
