LONG AWAITED FLOPPY WEDDING ...

What a rip-off! Having to pay 12.99 US$ to watch 1h 10 of extracts from the series' episodes that I had already seen and 10 poor minutes of the wedding itself is really dishonest. I was expecting an entire episode dedicated to the wedding: preps, ceremony, guests, banquet, party, a lot of emotion and tears, etc ... in one word: a wedding.
This episode was so cheaply made: first, as I said, images and scenes already seen in previous episodes, the same damn song all along the 80 minutes, obviously no budget for extras at the wedding (we see the same buddies and some members of the families).
The ceremony itself was totally botched: the couple gets out of the house into the garden where the guests were waiting, Tharn and Type stand up in front of the guests, facing each other, nobody was there to welcome them, introduce them, they exchange the rings and that's it. Pathetic! Nothing happy, "over the roof" as Tharn was feeling in the weeks preceding the wedding.
In our streaming world, $12.99 is more expensive than the release of a new film, a large public blockbuster ...
This shows a true contempt for the fans who follow T & T since the first image of episode 1. I'm not only disappointed but also furious to be the naive victim of this inglorious trap.
Please, save your money and do not attend this cheap wedding.

BOAT FOREVER

I fell in love with Boat I had never seen before this series. I think he is by far one the most handsome Thai actors. His face, his smile, his eyes are so peaceful, sweet and his body is strong and tender at the same time. Sun is a very quiet guy, never a word higher than the others. I totally agree with jpny01 (thank you for your excellent review): there is no comparison between Boat and Gun in terms of acting. Gun is not at ease, always gawky, quickly tearful ( not too far behind Fluke who is the unbeatable crying champion).
The story is for sure predictable. The BL writers have to find another scheme because the current one is well known by all the fans, from the start. When one sees a fight, an opposition between two main actors, one knows for sure they will fall in love pretty quickly and that one will have to wait until the last episode to see their first, very reserved, sealed lips, kiss. The interest in the drama rests on the group of characters, the attractiveness of the actors, and how the suspense is built. In this case, it's quite repetitive: the father's enemies will attack Sky and Sun will win the fight, regardless of the number of his opponents and overcome the injuries.
But, but, ... there is Boat Tara Tipa and this is priceless and represents 75% of my grade.

THE BEST CHINESE SERIES ARE THE CENSORED ONES

Yes, Stay With Me is a beautiful story of friendship and coming of age.
Yes, the actors are cute and good even if the series is shamefully badly dubbed.
But sorry there was a precedent: first a book and then an adaptation of it savagely censored by the Chinese regime.
I loved so much the first adaptation, Addicted (2016), based on the first volume of the book that I read the volume two. At my big surprise the book was going much much further deep in the relationship between Bai Luo Yin and Gu Hai. It was openly gay and sexual with some torrid bed scenes when in the BL drama all the kiss scenes were censured and replaced by a screen saying Kiss Scene Censored.
Gu Hai was the son of a general of the Chinese Army, very close to the power and like all the apparatchiks extremely rich. Gu Hai’s family situation added a new political dimension that was making a lot of sense. The two actors were formidable, more mature even if also finishing high school and their relationship was therefore more adult, with a lot of physical desire. Their couple was funny, direct, conflictual at time, in one word, real.
All these characteristics have been erased in Stay With Me. Wu Bi’s money comes from his family business empire. The direct link with the Chinese regime does not exist anymore and it’s the first reason why the drama was tolerated.
The second one is that Wu Bi and Su Yu are nice kids even if Wu Bi is a bit rebellious and turbulent. Everything is safe in this Chinese environment. Their friendship is wonderful, unique. They are inseparable but they are so innocent that nobody sees what’s going on beyond the friendship. Like in adaptation # 1, they live together, sharing a bed with the benediction of Su Yu’s father. In adaptation #2, the very smart trick has been to create a new character, the little sister, Duo Duo, and to give her an excessive importance in the story of her big brothers. This fact has transformed a bromance/ love story into a family drama. She is in all the scenes at home, interfering into the boys’s affairs. This makes the boys characters even more boyish, young. They are kids, they cannot be lovers … They are 18, living together, sharing a bed but their teenage bodies do not exist. Who is believing that? Nobody!
So the story is indeed beautiful but so hypocritical, unreal, it’s a Chinese dream.
Let’s see what will be the promised season two …

What a ripoff!

What a lazy job it was from the writers! We are going to be thousands of fanatic people to pay $9 on Vimeo to watch ... absolutely nothing. It's a sort of glossy paper fashion magazine: images one after another. No story, no script. We learn they went to London to study. Leo will become an ambassador like daddy (I guess it was not very difficult to get the job ...). They come back to Thailand. They regroup with their long time close friends. They seem to be 12, so childish. They are super rich, spoiled. The display of their money is bordering on obscene: they change their clothes every two minutes. In what world do they live???
It was really disappointing and not at all considerate of us, the enamored followers.

Remaining unsatisfied

... because I don't understand what is going on in Aek's brain ... The episode 8 was painful for that. Aek is totally opaque.
We can see the importance of his origins ( his hometown/region, his family, his mother and grandmother, two strong but loving women, the translation of these feelings in his cooking, ...), but for the rest, his sentimental life, his heart, it's foggier than the worst day in London ... He is mute, he does not communicate. He lives in his head, reading books and cooking. Even when he is with his close friends, he does not say anything, and the three friends are, on the other hand, pretty talkative, funny, expressive. In episode 8, there is a very good sequence to illustrate that: when, at the end of the contest, he learns he passed the first test and his buddies rush to him, congratulating him, wanting to hug him and to be hugged, he stays there, frozen, with no joy, no pride. It's terrible to have someone like that, you like. Mark, the actor playing Aek, is excellent: his face and eyes are blank and yet, Mark is very cute, his shy smile is to die for, but boy, was it painful to want to love him ... Poor Aue ... Aek's rejection of his feelings is so brutal, incomprehensible, almost mean... he even does not touch the dinner prepared lovingly by Aue. He is like a volcano: most of the time, silent, sleepy and suddenly there is an eruption that destroys everything around ...
And now, even if nothing has been resolved between Aek and Aue, Chef Viphob enters the game, obviously having a crush on Aek who called him after his fall to take him to the hospital ... What game is he playing? Is there a vicious evil behind the silent angel? The characters are piling up but nothing happens ... It's weird.
I don't care ( most of the time) about the very slow pace of the series because I like this type of cinema when not much happens not much is said but the characters generally have been well defined at the beginning of the story. Not here and it's where my dissatisfaction, my frustration lie in.

Beautiful surprise

I watched the first couple of episodes with a sort of distance. I saw all the faults (the acting, the badly done dubbing, ... as often in the Chinese series ...). But little by little I let myself be taken in by this beautiful love story. This series is very short (five episodes) and therefore there is no room for secondary stories. Everything focuses on the couple Cheng Yi - Ling Zi Ming. Their story is a classic teenager/highschooler story. Childhood friends, broken families. They built themselves. Inseparable friends, impervious to the amorous convolutions that swirl around one or the other (that poor Lu Xiang Lin who does everything to show his love to Ling Zi Ming who does not see him, as if he were literally transparent and who endures snub after snub).
And we come to the last two episodes which are poignant, with a very beautiful and poetic dialogue. Cheng Yi who explains to Ling Zi Ming that their love is governed by gravity: they are irresistibly attracted to each other. Dubbing becomes a kind of voiceover. It's very moving and dignified at the same time.

DISAPPOINTING END OF THIS SERIES

I was a big fan of this series. Very moved by the story, crying my share.... until the two last episodes. It would have been the perfect BL drama, smart, credible, with a strong love story carried by excellent actors. B1 is so cute and good. But why do you have to make a 8-episode drama when everything you have to say, fit perfectly in six episodes?? The two last episodes were just repetitions, re-use of the images from the precedents, again and again like the viewers/fans were idiots, forgetting everything at the end of each episodes ... The last episode that everybody was waiting for, the first meeting after the amputation surgery, should have been the most moving one, when Nut could beautifully reassure Phob of his unconditional love, but instead it was at 95% a summary of the entire story, with the song played in full length two times. And on the top of that, the second part, announced as a 13 minute episode, lasted in fact 9 minutes. And the most outrageous thing that the third part (8 3/3) was an uninteresting meeting with the leads and after that 10 minutes of comments. I shut down at that moment. Really unhappy by this mistreatment of the devoted audience. I guess more episodes bring more advertisement money but we don't care.
My grade of 8 is for the six first episodes. If I wanted to include the 8 episodes it would have dropped to 4. Too bad.

Waste of time

What a disappointment! We had already in Season 2, the three last episodes entirely dedicated to the childish expression of the love of Tee and Fuse have for each other without any events, any new steps in the story that could have been done in 10 episodes instead of 13-13,5... and here again "I love you", " I will love you forever", " How much do you love me?" etc etc for 6 short but SO slow episodes and when finally something happens, a new element in the story, the writers found the dumbest one, the less credible one: Tee parents wake up after three years asking him to dump Fuse ... when we know since season two, that Tee's mom left for London with her gay/bi gigolo of Tee's age... So why suddenly, this burst of prudishness???
What is also annoying is the total absence of physical attraction between the two: the most erotic moment is a kiss on the cheek (rolling eyes). I'm sorry but two guys who come to the beach to celebrate their three year anniversary, who are deeply in love and who don't see each other much during the year, the first thing they do is not to talk on the beach but to jump on the bed and enjoy each other, without these underwear they never removed (... even not to take a bath ... ). This is not only frustrating but also totally incredible in a gay story.
Conclusion: it's a quite boring sequel, badly written.

This drama is pathetic: no or so little plot, bad acting (actors seem in love like the stones in my garden ...)
This drama is ridiculous: the father's three sons are gay!!! Since it was a BL series, one needed gay characters. Since there is no story, beyond the three sons ... OK let's go and decide all of them are gay. I hope the father himself does not come out in season 2 ....
They are super rich of course, they don't have to work, they can buy whatever they want, even boyfriends ...
Thanks god, it's short.
Conclusion: don't waste your time

A very very BAD ROMANCE: One of the worst drama I've watched

I'm more than disappointed, I'm furious to have wasted my time ... I loved Korn and Knock in Together with me and Next Chapter. Max and Tul are extremely handsome and good actors. Their love story was nice and quite moving and suddenly here Knock became a stupid asshole, making Korn's life miserable. For nothing. Capriciously. His stupidest adventure was his ambiguous friendship with pathetically flamboyant and clownish Chinook, helping him selling a cream online to "save is dying mother... Everybody understood in 3 minutes that Chinook either wanted to sleep with Knock or his family melodrama was fake. Everybody ... but Knoll. It took three episodes for him to understand ...This sort of secondary story was totally useless. Korn's passivity, letting Knock acting stupidly without saying anything, was also unbelievable within a couple. It's like the authors of this drama added these silly things to reach the 13 episodes format ... They were surrounded by stupid, screaming, gossipy girls and even Cho, who was a sympathetic character became a mediocre guy. Glad it's over.
why do we have to give a minimum grade of 1 for rewatch value. My review is very negative. A zero would be more appropriate.

WHAT A GOOD SURPRISE!

I did not know this series and when I spotted it on YouTube, I decided to try ... and I was immediately hooked.
The first episode at the supermarket was excellent and pretty funny. They kept looking at each other and fell in love .
The last episode is more than excellent, it's funny, smart and so sexy. You cannot resist to the sexual desire, you cannot resit to a love attraction, even if you try to frame it, to put some rules ... OK let's give us 5 seconds to kiss and then we will rinse our mouths ... yeah... the kiss started like 5 minutes before the end of the episode and they were still kissing when the camera came back on them :) The episode stopped there but we can be sure that they did not stop there. Oh well... The text of the monologue said by K off camera was beautiful. Very moving, very authentic.
The two actors were very good and very cute: a perfect couple.
The short length of the series (6 episodes) was perfect: everything was in it

Nicest surprise

I had tried three times to watch this drama and I gave up three times: I had never been a fan of anything supernatural...
This time, not only I passed the first episode, but I finish to watch the 8 episodes in one day. I was very moved by the story and convinced by the acting of the whole main crew, falling for Ohm's charm and smile. He portraits a very sweet character, from his early childhood to the adult age. And also the good thing is that he comes out progressively, hesitating, asking himself questions like everybody else. He is definitely gay and avoids us the stupid pensum we ear all the time in BL dramas: “I am not gay but I love someone who happens to be a man/ if he was a girl, it would be the same….” Thun is gay. Period.
Since the Greek tragedy, Love and death are the two major events in our lives and this story integrate both in a nice way.

FINALLY ...

Finally, a modern BL drama!!! with true characters who don't look like magazine models, with true music instead of the light pop tricking with good feelings and sung by a gauzy voice...
The drama is very short, only six episodes but they are dense enough to keep the story alive. Mafuyu is a troubled young man who has difficulties to go over a former tragic love story. His voice reflects exactly the pain and Uenoyama feels it immediately. He is struck by Mafuyu’s voice as soon as he hears it and is intrigued by the mystery that envelops Mafuyu. Mafuyu is the opposite of a hero, he is not a radiant, glamorous young man. This is what is interesting in this drama: it’s not based on the same keys than the typical BL dramas. Uenoyama is the first one who associates this voice with his band music and he will be the first one who will win again Mafuyu’s heart. It’s a beautiful concept and a beautiful story. Japanese are so good at that.

Nicely Surprised

I started to watch this drama without any high expectations: I'm just out of an intensive period of watching BL dramas and I was feeling saturated ... but, since I have a crush on Drake, I said OK let's go for this one ...
Very quickly, I was hooked for the good reason that FINALLY we had teenagers expressing desires, sexually aroused, watching porn, talking between them of getting a "boner"... just normal, universal teenagers ... I had watched recently Theory of Love and I was shocked that during the twelve episodes of this drama, not a single time, the main couple talked about sex and desire, not a single time we saw them in bed ... even if they were writing a theory of love ... (rolling eyes), every time they kissed it was lips sealed ... It was pathetic.
So it was nice to hear in 'Cause You're my Boy, things be called by their names. It was nice to talk about homosexuality clearly: no girls were around, just two guys in love with each other for a long time and finally crossing the line, getting out.
Of course, the story has some flaws but it was forgivable for the reasons I just mentioned.
And there is Mork/Drake, smiley Drake, lively Drake, so cute Drake. It's true that in front of him Tee/Frank is a bit dull, a bit boring.

Seriously ....

Seriously, do all Thai students who enter university have, as the script suggests, a mental age of 12 when they are actually 18 or 19? This welcoming ceremony that we have already seen 100 times, where the very excited students dance and sing is totally distressing. There is not a single interesting/intelligent sentence that is uttered in the episode... It is just childish blah-blah. I think that the BL drama industry is stuck in a kind of schizophrenia: they try to stick "adult" themes (boy love stories) in stories for an audience of girls in early adolescence...
Re the music: what is this rearrangement of Ravel's Bolero doing there? It's insulting to the composer.
Thai BLs are becoming absolutely unbearable, we don't believe them for a second, the actors are generally bad and there are always grotesque, flamboyant characters, ridiculous and hysterical transvestites who are also borderline homophobic.
In short, I give up...
