Love the chemistry

This is the third installment of The Eternal Love. Similar storyline but this time there is gender role reversal, where the king is a woman and women have more power and domineering over men, for example, women take male concubine, male do the cooking etc. I thought it's funny that way and adds a new twist to the story. Most of the major cast from seasons 1 and 2 are still here. They keep the same female and male lead which I think gives continuation to the series. I have watched several c-drama sequels with different cast and somehow that feels like a new drama and I find myself comparing them to the previous actress/actor. The chemistry between the two leads are still there and what I enjoyed most about The Eternal Love series and frankly what made me watch this straight away. They are so cute and funny together. And I have to give special mention to the kissing scenes. There is aplenty and those who shipped this couple will definitely enjoy it. As for me, it's just a bit much, but i think it's the most kissing scenes that I've seen in any c-drama :)

The same music from seasons 1 and 2 is still there (with a couple of new ones) and I like them. As for re-watch value, maybe further down the road when I need something light and funny.

This unexpectedly becomes one of my favorite

To comply with the government regulation, Love Like A Galaxy is divided into two parts, to keep episodes below 40. The total episodes for the whole parts is 56. I'm glad they did not just cut here and there to keep the drama to just 40 episodes. It would not be as good otherwise. They divided the drama really well. Part 1 deals mostly with the character introductions and background. You get to see some character development, especially the FL and ML. Cheng Shao Shang started out as a rebellious girl that was left by her parents since she was a baby, to the care of her "evil-lish", annoying, materialistic, selfish grandmother and second aunt. The first part is about Shao Shang's life outside of the palace, and more about her family. This is an unexpectedly good drama, one that i will put on my favorites and will re-watch in the future, time permitted.

I watched this drama simply because it's inspired by Utada Hikaru's First Love. I love that song. I was hoping for a more melodramatic story with a happy ending, but I didn't get what I expected. The first two episodes show promise, but anything after that feels slow. The drama alternates between now and the past. The side character story is not interesting and boring to me. Sadly the drama fell flat for me. I guess I was expecting a more rollercoaster ride of emotion for this drama, but it failed to bring out any emotion (except for bore.. is that even an emotion? :)). I couldn't even connect the Utada Hikaru song with the two main characters, which is such a disappointment. But this is just my personal opinion.

Not worth your time

This drama started out strong and kept me interested until around episode 18 or 19 (I forgot). I really like the chemistry between Zhang Zhe Han and Ju Jing Yi as the ML and FL and the first half was filled with interesting interactions between those two, as well as some sweet moments that made me go through a couple of times. When I get past that half-way mark, particularly after they became a married couple, the story is lost on me, it becomes draggy, and FL becomes a very annoying, selfish and unreasonable character a lot of the times. I felt that there are some plot holes and the political part of the story I thought was a mess, and the ending, although a happy one, felt a bit rushed to me. Similar to other reviewers' comments, the motivation behind Duke An's revenge and his jealousy seems like a lame part of the story. They could have developed the story better and make him a better villain. Acting is just so-so, and to be honest I'm only watching this for Zhang Zhe Han, but even then I thought his acting here is just so-so.

I have to give a special mention to the second ML and FL Wu Bai Qi and Fu Xuan. They're so sweet, Wu Bai Qi is my favorite character in this drama. I would have given this drama a lower rating if not for him and ZZH's sweet moments with JJY.

Music is okay, but I found that no particular song (opening or ending theme) strikes my fancy and I did not add any of the songs from this series to my playlist. Maybe if i am more emotionally invested in the series, the songs would be nicer to listen to as I reminisce the moments from the series, but noooooooooo.....

Rewatch Value: NO WAY. I have a long list of dramas to watch, so I am not coming back to watch this draggy and boring drama.

I would not recommend you watching this drama, except you are an even bigger fans of Zhang Zhe Han than I am and can be content with poor story lines as long as you can see his handsome face (because we won't see him again in future dramas :(... sad)
