Match Made in Heaven, Thanks to Food!

If you liked the first season, then you will LOVE this season. In the first season, we saw the beginning of their friendship and the beginning of Nomoto San’s sexuality.

This season focused a lot towards building their relationship along with introducing new characters. They have such a nice, fluffy, and healthy relationship that I was so eager for each episode. It’s really refreshing compared to some of the Asian GL’s that are out there. Nomoto and Kasuga have a wonderful and open relationship with one another. They do face many issues regarding their families, sexuality, and figuring out their own feelings, but they’re able to overcome them all. There is not a lot of toxic characters or moments, or any miscommunication (that doesn’t get solved asap).

While this drama does focus on Nomoto/Kasuga and their relationship with food. We are introduced to a new character who has their own struggle with food. I think this drama did an amazing job introducing new themes. We have those who enjoy cooking and eating, but there are some people who struggle eating especially around others. There’s a lot of pressure from society. We’ve gotten some Ace representation as well!

Even though the main leads do an amazing job with having good communication and being warm/kind to everyone in their lives, we do see the (sad) reality of being a same-sex couple in an Asian/conservative country. But it doesn’t stop them from moving forward in life.

Oh, if you’re looking for a drama with a lot of skinship, unfortunately we don’t get that in this season. Since this relationship is very new to them, they start out slow but I’m hoping to see more moments (if we get another season)! We did get a hug and kiss though!

I could go on and on about this drama and I wish I could watch it again for the first time again! I really hope we can get a third season! I wanna see their life of living together!!

Mature GL for the Win!

Deep Night Side Story: The Two of Us further explores the relationship of Freya and Meiji, who're also characters in the sequel Deep Night. You don't have to watch the sequel to watch this, since it mainly focuses on the main BL couple(s), but it lets you know a little more about this couple!

Getting into The Two of Us, it was so nice and refreshing to finally see more a mature GL pairing. We don't have a lot of them and the chemistry between Tanya and Ning is AMAZING! There isn't much plot, probably because we only got six 15 minute episodes, but there is something to keep us on our toes. When I first saw this couple in Deep Night, I wanted to see more of them and I'm so glad we got this show. In this show we get to hear more about Freya and Meiji's friendship and how they became more than friends (Meiji really had to put up the final test to get Freya to break lol). There were so many cute and jealous scenes, these two are so adorable! The acting is okay. I'm still getting used to the overacting that is done in Thai dramas, so there are some scenes that were cringe. Their kissing scenes and love scenes were pretty good as well, a little awkward here and there but I believe this was something new for the both of them.

If you're stuck between watching this or not, I think it is totally worth it. It's nothing hard on the heart (angst) and it's a good leisure watch. I hope this opens more opportunities for more mature (AND HEALTHY) thai gl's. It's just Freya and Meiji world, we're just living in it lol

New Relationships Are Never Easy

Quick Summary: Freya and Meiji are moving forward in their relationship and have moved into a new house together. We are able to see them fully be a couple without any interruptions since Khem is studying abroad for the summer! They are at an odd honeymoon phase where they just want to be by each other's side and miscommunications come up more quickly than they should.

Review: You will definitely need to watch Season 1 to enjoy Season 2. I think this might be a popular opinion, but season 1 was definitely better than this one. One thing this show lacks is a good plot. I love Meiji and Freya (TanyaNing have amazing chemistry!) but I wish to see more of a story. It just feels like they’re living their daily lives and a camera is following them along. I don’t mind a light hearted show or leisure watch, but a plot/main goal is nice to have. In Season 1 the main focus was Meiji trying to win over Freya and see if she has feelings for her. In this season, I can’t say much. Freya is such a green flag and is wonderful with reassurance, but these two seriously lack communication and alot of it has to do with Meiji jumping to conclusions quickly. Freya definitely had some character growth as she was ready to tell the world about their relationship. Another thing I didn’t like was them basically forgetting that Meiji is a (pastry) chef. I know she was a chef overseas and might take some time to get a job in Thailand, but the way she's so clumsy and messy in the kitchen, makes me wonder if they forgot and she’s home way too often lol I also feel like these characters aren’t the same as the ones in Deep Night the series.

There were still some things I enjoyed about this season. I loved seeing them be so lovey dovey and childish in a way? I know they’re more mature but first wlw relationships hit differently so there are times they react to things and situations are little differently lol I love that Freya was willing to fight for their relationship and they got great support! They also looked AMAZING this season! Despite the no-plot, I do enjoy seeing them just normal couple stuff and just being cute and in love. I love some drama, so adding the Aom drama was amazing! I wish it would’ve come sooner so they could’ve had a few episodes to ride it off and make that the main focus. The first few episodes were good and the last two were good, the middle was okay as filler.

I don’t want to say bye to Freiji yet and idk when Deep Love will be released, so I would love to see another season! Maybe they could get a higher budget and we can see Freiji going on dates outside of their house. I personally would love to see women hitting on Madam Freya and get some Meiji jealous action going on.

I think I have a soft spot for them so I still recommend y’all to give it a try and watch this, just keep your hopes low and enjoy a (short) mature gl pairing <3

Should you watch this drama?

If you're asking yourself, "Should I watch this drama?"

Maybe I can help you:
Do you want to watch a funny/crazy plot drama and not be so invested in the plot or characters? Yes
Are you someone who liked SWDBS and want something VERY similar to it? Then no.

I can see why some people are upset and didn't like this drama, but I don't think it's as bad as people make it to be. Some of these people are too stuck on the villian (I don't blame them, because he is FINE and probably had the best charisma compared to the other characters). Some of these people are still stuck on SWDBS and wanted the same exact plot and can't get over it. Some people had high hopes for the plot, I mean how realistic do you guys want it to be? These women are INSANELY strong?!? Nothing about that is normal. Would it have been nice to have better chemistry between the main couple? Yes, I feel like we didn't even get a chance to see their spark and chemistry. But the summary is clearly about them finding their daughter (which they did), the daughter finding her family (which she did) and them coming together as a family to solve a drug case (which they did!) Surprise, surprise.

I don't think I wasted any time on this drama. It was a fun, entertaining watch and I enjoyed all the characters and their storylines! Would I watch it again, probably not, but I haven't really watched SWDBS again either (and I REALLY enjoyed it) lol This show was more action focused while the other was more romance focused. Don't let these comments scare you. If you do decide to give it a chance, enjoy~

Chaotic Friend Circle (not in a good way)

This drama seemed pretty promising when I saw the trailer on Netflix. I usually read the comments on MDL, then see if I want to watch it. But I decided to just jump in with this drama…I kinda wish I would’ve read the comments because this drama felt like a waste of my time. From the summary and trailer clip, you’d think the focus would be on the ML and FL but boy was I wrong. The fight in beginning and going viral was hilarious and I was ready to see how they would overcome their past and how they’d explain in to their partners. But after the first few episodes, the drama started focusing on the Nine Sun group and their sick friend. I get that they play a major role on bringing these two back together, but no to this extent. I wanted to see their progress more than seeing the sick friend making amends with his first love and everyone else’s drama.

The wife is unbearable. I don’t know how the ML has survived in their marriage, but he’s pretty weak too. I just wish he’d stand up for himself more. I know the wife is on some kind of medicine, but she needs proper help and healing. She’s initiated the divorce EVERY TIME yet loses her shit when he signs the paper and wants a divorce. The FL’s bf is a loser too. I don’t know who has it worst tbh and their friends… they love setting them up.

I feel like a lot of them are way too grown to be acting like this. Maybe I haven’t seen enough Taiwanese dramas, but the acting and plot/humor really wasn’t my style. If this is their norm, then maybe you’d enjoy this drama. But if you’re stuck between wanting to watch it or not. I probably wouldn’t recommend it. Not unless you wanna skip throughout majority of the drama or have A LOT of free time to pass. If I were to cut up all the extra parts that weren’t focused on the ML&FL then I’d rate this drama a little higher!
