J-detective drama = crimes + eccentric main character
Lather, rinse, repeat.
However, Kagi is making J-detective dramas look good. There's a theme, not just a unique main character. I took off points because Toda Erika isn't really doing anything for me so far, and I managed to figure out the case halfway through.
Regardless, a detective drama worth giving a chance to.

Maybe the manga it's based off of was like this, I don't know, but so many aspects of the chase scene and of the character's actions just make no batshit sense.
Well, it'd make sense if everyone were chickens with their head cut off, but otherwise, these characters aren't people, they're puppets the screenwriter is using to make movements across the drama. They haven't gotten any feelings out of me yet.
With a premise that appears to be super interesting, I'm really hoping it doesn't disappoint. :|

Kazuo is still trying to find the best way to handle his new troubles, and though I won't say why, The resolution to the the "Sam arc" of Kazuo's story brought tears to my eyes.
This fifth episode focuses on the chubby daughter and her encounter with a boy from the Tohoku area (where the earthquake hit)--Needless to say, this story really struck a cord with me. Young love is

It challenges my mind (I try to solve the case before they do...and I've done it so far), but I'm hoping they'll surprise me next time with something I can't solve.
It's getting a little routine, and thus losing its novelty (after only two episodes! Bad sign!), so fingers crossed the next criminal is a genius mastermind. 8D

The only things you learn from this episode:
-A group of delinquents who love their school, and a group of personality-less highbrows have their schools merged together.
-The guys fight and yell a lot...Cliche.
-The girls pretend to be ladylike and whatnot, but in the end just kinda stand there...Boring.
I still have hope for this drama, as the premise is rather interesting, but the first episode was a total throwaway.
Edit: Upon further research, this drama is the prologue. Though, I'm wondering why it's even necessary to have a prologue if this is all there is to it. =-=;
