A thrilling ride with a disappointing end
I throughly enjoyed the show at some point while it was airing I was convinced it would end up being on my favorites list. My expectations were exceedingly high. The show maintains being suspenseful and thrilling the whole way through.I was watching it at a time where watching Kdramas felt a bit like a chore and I was in a slump but once staring revenge of others I was on the edge of my seat for every episode and it just brought back feelings I got when I first started watching kdramas.
The main characters were not only well written and likable, they also had amazing chemistry which just made the drama even more enjoyable. The side characters were also well written and complex, the first several episodes had set such a high standard for me in terms of the writing that I expected the side characters arcs to all contribute to the main mystery and finale but most of them were abandoned. I felt like some of the side characters, namely the girls were severally underutilized.
Once again I had thought so highly of the writing that I over analyzed certain plot points and expected them to all be resolved or contribute to the overall mystery only for them to be hastily explained or be completely deserted. This left the show with several plot holes and I think this is one of those rare times were a drama seriously should’ve just gotten more episodes then they may have been able to resolve all the unanswered questions and plot holes.
Overall I’d say give it a watch, I sincerely loved and enjoyed the journey of watching the drama even if the ending kinda put a damper on it for me. You may like the ending more than I did so it’s worth trying out
I still have more to stay so **SPOILERS DOWN BELOW**
This is completely my personal opinion on this but I was absolutely dreading the DID storyline with Jaebum which I’m sure I and many others saw coming a mile away. Having done done a lot of research on DID, I’ve always disliked how often it was used as a plot device in thrillers, the shock value really has worn out on this trope and it just feels cheap to use it in this way where there’s no nuance and research done. Jaebums DID felt like it was used to make a quick simple “plot twist” if they were going this route I just wished they would’ve done it with more care, this is a real life disorder after all.
I honestly would’ve loved it if it was one of the girls were the actual murders, Ajun’s pregnancy led to absolutely nowhere when it honestly could’ve been used in several ways to contribute to the plot. The fact that it didn’t made me wonder what was the point of having it in the first place.
Also I was genuinely shocked and kinda disappointed that Gi Osung didn’t have feelings for Jaebum, his jealous comments seriously made me believe this was the route they would go and it would’ve made so much sense?
Oh and I expected more would’ve been done with ML’s brain tumor I mean I’m glad we got a happy ending but still I wish the ending would’ve elaborated more on his condition and his future.
