Looks dated now, but worth watching!
This show is definitely worth watching, if not for the great cast alone. I initially watched this show because of its extremely high ratings, but I dropped it after about two episodes and couldn't understand why my perception of the show was so different from the rating. After about a year, I decided to give it another go. Some of the things that bothered me originally still bothered me, but I warmed up to the show overall. Then it hit me, and here is my fair warning to anyone watching this for the first time: it's the Netflix/Disney budget effect! This show came out around 2016, before the huge rise of K-Drama on those platforms and the giant budgets that are now common, and it shows. While newer high-budget shows often look like 16-part movies, this has the look and feel of a TV show. Particularly, the military/war scenes are so cheap-looking compared to more modern-day stuff that it's ridiculous. However, once you ignore that part and remind yourself of the 2016 TV show aspect, you will really like the show. It has a very strong cast (Vincenzo, The Glory, Mr. Sunshine, etc.) and a very good story. It has drama, action, romance—you name it. Yes, it looks dated, but it's still a strong 8/10 on my scale.
