Too good in the start, too dramatic in the end

It’s starting with revenge finally turning into love, a betrayal gets solved, a city saved, but at the end love in one’s lifetime is not lasting too long - not only for the main protagonists. While watching I was hoping for a different ending, one which is not too cliche but less devastating. Nevertheless the bond between the main couple is breathtaking. I like, too, that the main cast was not too young, but matured actors.
