I don't know anything about the novel or the drama, so this review is based solely on this movie; I won't be able to compare the characters of each installation. First off, if there's anything at all that you should watch this movie for, then it's the scenery. It's so breathtakingly beautiful, almost like a painting. The plot is quite interesting, and kinda makes me wanting to get back into gaming. Not that I would actually do that though, since I've got my hands full with all these movies and dramas. Bei Wei-Wei is a great character, and I love her sharp tongue. Xiao Nai is extremely sweet, but seems too perfect to be true. For some reason that's a flaw in my mind. His friends are pretty funny too, and so are Wei-Wei's, but I never actually learned their names. Overall, it's a sweet story, but I don't see any plot twists so it seems a little plain. I loved it though.
