Rubberband not Bubblegum

It was an okay drama overall. The storyline was average and quite predictable. The acting was great!

However, I feel that this drama was pretty stretched. It seemed like they just wanted to make it with 16 episodes of one hour each. They could have made it a miniseries with 10 episodes or even less than that. It's name should have been 'Rubberband' and not 'Bubblegum' seeing how stretched it is.

I also didn't like the female lead's character to some extent. She's a total Cinderella. But the actress who played her role did a great job.

After like 10 episodes or so, I just felt like dropping it but I was curious to see who Tae Hee would end up with. That's what made me watch it till the end.

I won't recommend it to anyone. You can watch it if you have that much patience and nothing else to watch.

Politics

Everybody keeps saying that this is a romance drama but this is not the main genre. The main genre is politics. This whole drama revolves around an election scheme. But the story was good enough. The acting was also great. Jisoo did a good job.

What I didn't like was that the episodes were too long. All episodes were nearly one and a half hour long and the last episode was one hour, 45 minutes long 😭. It's a movie not an episode! But it's fine.

Also, I feel that Jisoo should not have taken this drama. There were various controversies about it because in this drama, she unknowingly gives refuge to a North Korean spy. It doesn't look good to start a career with controversies. But probably because she wanted to get into acting, she had to do the very first role she receives.

It's worth one watch though.

A Good Watch

I liked the storyline. However, I feel that the title does not match with the story. After reading the title I thought that probably Song Yoon Ah isn't the mother and that Kim So Yeon was the mother. But anyway, keeping this aside, it was overall a very great and enjoyable drama. I decided to watch this drama after seeing Kim So Yeon in The Penthouse. I really liked her acting and I watched this for her.

Although this was a thriller genre, it was quite light-hearted as compared to Penthouse. It's interesting and you can watch it with family. If you are into thrillers but are too tired of the intensity, you can give this drama a try.

A little boring

It started off well. The first 9 or 10 episodes were good but it became really boring after that character called Ah Sa Nyeo came.

It was also a little stretched. They could've finished it off in around 16 episodes or even less. It seemed like they wanted to make it with 20 episodes of 1 hour 20 minutes each. It became a little interesting towards the end though.

I liked Cha Seung Won's acting. He's a great actor. Son Oh Gong and Devil King Woo's bromance is what made me watch this till the end.

It's worth watching if you have a lot of patience. I won't recommend it to anybody.

Long but enjoying

I might drop even those dramas that are of 16 episodes but I can't believe that I watched the whole of 52 episodes!!

This drama depicts the difficulties and the prejudices that Gisaengs face in today's world. It was very touching. I really liked how any of the characters were not so negative that our blood starts boiling. I won't give a major spoiler but Ra Ra was a really good best friend. She did not become a b!tch like most of the Chinese dramas and made up with Sa Ran so quickly. She didn't break her friendship for a man. This whole drama was completely logical (except that ghost part). Never did I get those thoughts like ''seriously?'', ''what's going on?" or "this is too much" etc. while watching this drama.

Overall it's a good watch.

Aesthetic

I watched this drama for IU and it proved to be completely worth it! IU did a good job here in a badass role. This drama has an amazing photography and very beautiful sceneries. It also has a little historical storyline. IU's outfits were also beautiful. All outfits suited her well. She looks adorable in whatever she wears! It also has a great OST.

It became really sad towards the ending. What I didn't like that the episodes were really long but it's fine. I enjoyed it. I look forward to seeing IU in more dramas.

Overall, this drama is surely worth one watch.

Overrated

Major spoiler ahead. Proceed with caution.

I strongly feel that Squid Game is overrated. It started off well. The story and the suspense was quite good. However, I didn't like the ending. Ki Hoon wins all the money. He leaves Sae Byeok's brother with Sang Woo's mother and gives them the money and just leaves! I'm like, WTH?!?!?!?! That granny will die soon anyway so who will look after that little boy??? He could've at least stayed with them. This is why I didn't like the ending. I heard that they are going to bring a season 2. I hope it turns out better than this with a better ending. It is worth one watch.

Alice in Borderland was way better than this though.

Good but a little disappointing

The whole series was really nice. I enjoyed it throughout but I'm a little disappointed with the last season. After giving two amazing seasons of this drama, after captivating us for so long, what they do is give us a sad ending.

I feel that the deaths of Sim Su Ryeon and Logan Lee wasn't needed. Although the ending was happy for some characters and sad for some other characters, it was more of a sad ending. They could have made it a little happier by showing Sim Su Ryeon and Logan Lee together. Their deaths is the only reason why I didn't like the ending.

Overall, it is a really good drama and a must watch. It is not recommended for sensitive people.
