It's okay
I watched this because of Ning Jing. It's not bad. I came into this with no expectations, especially with such a title and storyline. It's about a group of bandits and it has a lot of action scenes. The male lead wishes to marry his "grandmother" who is 8 years his senior. Together they go through various "adventures" fighting the bad guys for 40 episodes. You can skip 10 episodes and feel like nothing has changed . It's just lots of fighting back and forth, guns and all.Was this review helpful to you?
It is not good
I have been a fan of Ning Jing since Xiao Zhuang Epic. She's an amazing actor who unfortunately has been in a series of low production shows. Ning Jing is beautiful, but sadly she has mostly been cast in shows with make up and costumes that really age her. This particular series has good acting and a promising storyline. However, the dated and cheesy costumes are distracting, making it hard to watch. I had to fast forward a lot to be able to able to finish it. This is supposed to be a love triangle based on the description, but it really lacks romance. The title suggests a focus on emperor Yongle, but it felt like it was all about the female lead and her story. Due to the different directions of the story, all three aspects felt weak and underdeveloped. And the ending is just blah. Was this review helpful to you?

Couldn't finished it.
I'm sucker for historical dramas. This one seems like an interesting retelling of the story of the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty and his wife. However, the show was very drawn out and boring. It's a comedy with lots of plot and background on the main leads., but there is no chemistry between them. The costume designs are dated. It seems the budget was all spent on getting Benny Chan and Ning Jing to star. I stopped watching after episode 19. It is over 60 episodes long. Sigh. Was this review helpful to you?
