ANGST YEARNING LOVE

The long ballad was so amazing when I started it I had very high expectations because of what I’ve seen of clips and those exceptions were exceeded!!! All the characters were beautifully thought out and almost all got character arcs which I ADORED. The main couple was AMAZING I loved them so much their chemistry was amazing!!! wu lei was gorgeous here and I hope he takes on more historical roles with outfits and hair like this cause I was immersed in staring at his character ??. The second lead couple was also so so great hao du’s character arc was so good and I adored it so much. I watched this cause lusi and dilreba were in it so I also loved lusi as well. Lusi played the princess so well and her character arc to becoming more mature and understanding of the common people’s suffering was so amazing I really liked how they included that and showed how mature she became after. I adored the Sismance and how much they went through but still remained like sisters :))) The scene where hao du fought was SO GOOD I loved how they built up their romance with this scene. Overall I adored practically every character in this show, the eagle clan members, the mains and the side characters from tang were all so well developed and I fell in love with all of them. I loved how both princesses had a young kid as their sidekick who they saw as their brothers and I loved their characters so much. I loved the emperor as well he was such a good character as well. Also, the main girl’s arc from being harsh after the death of her parents to growing up to be a great princess who fights for the people was amazing I loved how they included that the main leads were there for each other in the worst times of their lives, the romance in general was so amazing for all couples in the show!!! The OST was splendid like every song was so good I definitely bookmarked it to listen to later and the intro song in particular was so good I never skipped the intro song cause I loved it so much! (And I usually skip intro songs to get to the ep faster). Other reviews said this is a good drama as an intro to historical Cdramas and I agree!!! If you’re looking for a drama to watch to introduce yourself to historical Cdramas this is the one! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Edit: I ended up rewatching it just a few days after I finished cause I loved it so much... cannot describe how good this show is the love line progression is amazing alongside everything else also the styling!!!!!! The styling is so gorgeous seriously watch this it’s incredible

OUTSOLD THE OG!

I started this for Nakajima Kento without knowing it’s a she was pretty remake. I personally hated the og Korean version so I was skeptic of continuing but I haven’t watched something with Nakajima Kento in a while so I figured I’d just sit through the 10 eps and get it over with. I was pleasantly surprised at how the remake was actually good!!! They removed a LOT of things that I hated from the og and with the things they kept they worked it out so that it wasn’t annoying. For example, I loved that they removed how he would fire her all the time and treat her AWFUL, while he was mean at first he quickly because normal and just very critical of her work which was to her advantage! Also they made it very clear that he liked her before the transformation which I loved because I wasn’t a fan of the transformation part anyways. They really hit home that he liked HER and not just cause she was his childhood friend cause he fell in love with her all over again even while thinking she was a stranger and I didn’t get that feeling from the og it felt like he just started liking her cause he found out who she was kinda thing in the og which was so stupid. The friendship aspect was also so well done you could really see how both ai and risa really cared about each other with both having sacrifices they made for their friendship, in the og the best friend seemed to only care for herself and she started pursuing main guy immediately seeming nonchalant meanwhile in this version she held back for a long time which I loved and the convo they had after everything was found out was so emotional and well done. Again stressing how the transformation wasn’t the main point of why he fell in love with her I loved how they really made sure to point out that he liked her before the change and that he loved her for HER not how she looked :) it really gave the self love vibe way better than the og. The chemistry between the leads was SO good and amongst all characters really. Main characters aside, I loved ALL THE CHARACTERS, they all had their own stories and their own times to shine which was so cute. This show had me smiling I loved it so much especially the second half!! the theme song was so catchy I was humming it all day after watching an ep. I loved loved loved the last ep ending it was so so cute and I was smiling like an idiot while watching, their daughter was sooo cute and seeing how everyone grew and became more beautiful in Ai’s words had me so happy. I definitely recommend this for a brighten up in ur day! It’s very rewatchable and I think I’ll be rewatching it in the future for sure :))

Genetic psychopathy real or bluff?

Mouse was a very interesting show I was hooked from the very first episode! The show did a spin never seen before in crime kdramas and left me in suspense without a clue of what could happen which doesn’t happen easily so I loved that aspect! The entire plotline was very thought out and was executed in ways I didn’t even think of when brainstorming theories it’s definitely one of the best crime dramas this year. The entire concept of the show was something never seen before and it was very interesting to watch how they executed this plotline out. Watching this while it aired was definitely a great experience. Massive applause to Seunggi he really nailed the complex role of playing ba reum and it’s by far his best acting role. Ba reum was such a complex and tormented character Seunggi truly did execute the acting of his character very well . All other characters were also amazing! Including the child cast I really applaud all those included in the cast for they played their roles out really well. I loved moo chi and soojin’s character and so many others too :(( . I really think you can’t rate this below a 9.0 cause it’s that good, however, that doesn’t mean that the drama is perfect. I really did not like bong yi’s character and her romance with ba reum was very off putting because of the age gap. Their romance arc should’ve been left out or if they made her less annoying/ older this would’ve actually been a pretty good enemies to lovers (tragic). Also I feel like they could’ve made it slightly shorter (maybe 18 eps(?)) to reduce how some eps dragged a bit. Some people didn’t like how they added brain transplants as it wasn’t realistic, however, that wasn’t the case for me I actually really liked this aspect and it was very unexpected as for the unrealistic part the genetic gene thing was unrealistic from the start and this is a DRAMA btw so I don’t care for how realistic it is as long as it’s good :)) . Overall, it’s a must watch crime drama that you definitely should try out

Dreams are achieved by believing in the impossible

I started this drama with low expectations since I didn’t care for e sports, I was only watching since Luhan and wu lei were in it, however, I was blown away at how attached I got to this drama. All the characters were incredible and it was emotional to see how they all achieved their dreams and matured as individuals as well. Xiao bei encountered many obstacles on his path to becoming a professional e sports player but the journey he had was so emotional to watch, he grew so much as an individual and I was overjoyed when he achieved his dream after all the things blocking his path, wu lei played xiao bei SO WELL like seriously he nailed this role and I was very impressed with his acting, despite being so young he was able to encompass the turmoil xiao bei has went through in an emotional and thorough way so applause to him. Luhan also was incredible as xiao feng, the first e sports player to win the national championship the struggles they both went through were showcased beautifully and very realistically. While the drama was centred on e sports they also had a theme of sci fi, via xiao bei and xiao feng connecting across time (2008 and 2019) they went through so much together I seriously loved their brotherhood and how it was showcased. Xiao bei’s team and the other e sports players namely king were also amazing and I loved how the drama showcased the struggles of other players aside from the main characters to show more insight into the issue. There was also a mystery element included via the death of his brother which I really liked and I ADORED his brother when it showed his death I cried a lot. The romance in the show was slight but was still more than enough and I liked how they didn’t have the love interests as just there to be a love interest they had their own backstories and struggles. The music in this was very motivating, upbeat tunes of struggling to achieve ur dream like the drama’s message which I loved and saved since I loved the songs so much. Seriously after watching this I gained more insight into the world of esports and the struggles of the players which also gave me a better appreciation for the field and all those included. The drama really tried to push how dreams don’t have to be something you believe is possible, you can dream for what you want even if it seem’s unreachable and still achieve it and I loved this. I think I might rewatch this but not anytime soon but it’s definitely a drama you have to experience at least once I highly recommend this especially when ur in a down mood this will definitely lift ur spirits up with its showcase of how dreams can prevail no matter how impossible the circumstances. Like xiao feng said “you can achieve ur dreams by believing in the impossible” (kinda reversed can’t remember the exact line haha) but this drama will definitely stay with me as an amazing drama about youth and the perseverance of dreams :)

BEST ROM COM OF 2022

This show is a hidden gem!! I had this on my list before it aired because I am a huge fan of Jin Ki Joo and the premise looked alright, but I was blown away by how perfect this show was! It had the humour, the angst, and everything in between! I adored EVERY character in this show, and they were all played superbly!! I haven’t watched anything with Park Hae Jin in a while, but he was GREATTT here. Like he played his role(s) so well and he looked so good omg. I loved the reincarnation love plotline. It was just so so good. Like, instead of just keeping it brief, it went in depth and it was SOOO good. Like, I was squealing and kicking my feet to all the romance scenes in this show, past and present. Like the scriptwriter deserves applause for the romantic lines. I literally giggling so hard at every romance scene like a schoolgirl. The angst, like I LOVE watching angst romances, and this was the perfect amount of angst AND humour + romance. I just couldn’t get enough of it. The side characters were so good and I loved that their stories were explored well too, like how the gangsters' love story was so sweet and sad:( The SML was so good too when he was fighting the evil spirit to protect her omggg. Overall, this show is honestly the best rom-com of 2022 for me. Like, thank you. I hope to see more kdramas like this made because this was just so good and perfect in every sense. I can't applaud the cast and crew enough for how well they played this out.

roller coaster of emotions

I had very mixed feelings about this drama. The plotline centres wolf boy (darren) and his romance with (Li Qin ) i expected there to be some background knowledge told on his background how he got that way etc? the drama gives nothing about his background except one comment of him being left in the forest cause both his parents died? main guys arc was very questionable because they tried to push the he is still nice wolfie but he was so cold even the aura he gave off was completely different. the plot had a lot of potential but really didn’t fulfill what I thought it would and the main guy acted like he had a mood disorder. The scenes where he was tryna make her lose her love for him were very awkward and so toxic. When they first met and starting liking each other it was actually pretty good and their chemistry was great! but as we progressed .. I’ve seen many people comment that it’s cause he’s a complex character which is true but the way they laid down the plot did not address it whatsoever so it feels like a waste :/ Main girl was kinda annoying and really didn’t have much character arc (as for most characters in the show). However, I still did grow a fondness towards this show because the good scenes were still so good i wish it followed a differnt direction (especially with male leads treatment of female lead to make her leave which was unnecessarily crude) but overall it was a well done show and could’ve been way better had they followed a better direction but the story was wrapped up very well and was still really saddening :( could’ve been a 10/10 show if it were executed properly but it still was pretty good. The ost was so goood like every song fit very well. Not sure if i’d recommend someone to watch this but it’s definitely something you’ll remember if you do decide on watching lmao.

longing and strife

I started the legends for bai lu and I honestly was expecting it to be pretty good cause the synopsis + bai lu!! but wow it was INCREDIBLE like everything in the drama was sooooo well done the outfits the fight scenes the dialogues the parallels the way the plot moved along for the most part. I personally didn’t really know much about xu kai and didn’t expect anything from him but he was AMAZING like wow his acting was SO good definitely will tune in for his other works cause the way he acted in this is just beyond words good. The chemistry of the leads was sooooo good and the longing portrayed by wu kai could be felt so well they managed to get friends to enemies to lovers on bai lu’s character but for him he always loved her and it was sooooo cute omg I adored it he really loved her soooo much like omg i’m in tears. I loved all the characters even the evil ones kudos to all that acted in this drama cause everyone did their job perfectly in my opinion!!!! tho it did drag slightly for me towards the very last half of the drama it wasn’t that bad and getting past that is definitely worth it!!! wish we saw more of them in the future but i’m happy with the ending too :) honestly definitely is going into my face wuxia watched list and tho it’s low on rewatch value for me just cause i feel like u just cant reexperince all the scenes again i definitely will rewatch it sometime!

Short and sweet

I started this for main guy and I watched it while airing so I had some gaps in between watching cause I was waiting for subs. It started off really good the pursuing stage was so good and while it could be kinda cliche it was really good. The second half of the drama seemed to melo out, however, I don’t think this is a drama made to be outstanding but rather a simple short drama u can watch and enjoy while ur bored. The ost was pretty good I liked it. Overall this was short, sweet and funny and perfect to watch when u got some down time!

Started this after getting an article about it on the homepage and since I was looking to start something new and short (only 16 eps!) I tried it out and I LOVEDDD it. Literally finished it in one day lmao. It was so good like the storyline was interesting and went more in depth than I thought it would? (thought it would be a more surface level sometimes mentioned plotline) and unpredictable kinda. The romance was SO good and the 5 years gap made the romance even better the yearning was SO good. all the characters were so fun and I adored all of them. The main guy was FINEEEE like he looked so good the whole show. The pacing of the show was also really good like I didn’t skip a single part of it cause it flowed very nicely. I recommend checking it out :)

Historical rom com with deep backstory!

The romance of Tiger and rose incorporated a theme of sex stratification with a rom com flavour. It was quite interesting to see how the cities differed in which sex was seen as dominant and it was slightly thought provoking, with main girls city showing the opposite of the real world where men are the lower class. I thought every character was pretty well developed which was nice to see. I adored main girl, she was so funny and cute and I liked main guy as well. The main guy, han shuo was a likeable character for the most part, however, in the later half of the show they kinda made him :/ I wish they allowed for his villain arc to be more just being mean. The romance was well developed the switch from hate to love was natural and did not come too quickly. The romance was also not just fluff was at times very intense cause it was driven by the plot which I liked. THE ENDING YALL THE LAST EP HAD ME FEELING A COASTER OF EMOTIONS. I heard there’s a s2 coming out and I’m SO excited for it!! I hope it’s based in modern day. Overall, this was a pretty good watch overall , however, the last 5 eps were a bit of a let down and they made the male lead out to be extremely toxic at the start of his villain arc which I wish they left out cause it basically ruined the taste of the drama in the last 5 eps. Hopefully s2 makes up for that madness ?. The rewatch value is low simply because I think this is a type of drama u cant rewatch twice since how the latter half went on and would be more suitable to watch a s2 next

CUTE OFFICE ROMANCE

I started watching this for oguri shun. I have watched the Korean remake of this beforehand (not knowing it was a remake until after I watched) so I was kinda skeptic of how this one would go as the Korean version was AWFUL. However, I was pleasantly suprised! Oguri shun played the main role very well, the role of hyuga can be seen as undesirable unless its acted out properly and oguri shun showcased hyuga perfectly!! Hyuga was seen as a rather blunt individual (rather than straight up rude) and had a cute charm to him. Hyuga also had a great character arc which was satisfying to see how he tried hard to become a better person alongside the members of next innovation, their interactions were so sweet. Main girl was a very hardworking great character as well despite the fact that she cried often she wasn’t showcased as annoying but rather it seemed like a strength of hers to be so empathetic and I adored the interactions between her and hyuga. The romance was quite slowburn but very satisfying with how it played out, the airport scene was so so cute and I enjoyed how their romance concluded very much. The second female lead here in contrast to the Korean remake was much less insufferable and was overall a decent character as well as the second male lead. I enjoyed this drama much more than I expected to despite being a drama that centred around business (which I don’t care much for) I will probably rewatch some of the romance scenes again cause they were so cute. I recommend watching this and definitely staying away from the Korean remake cause it RUINED this original masterpiece

Cute adaptation continuation!

I don’t know if people view these 2 seasons as separate but for the mast majority I believe these both are a must watch together as the story doesn’t feel complete with just season 1. The second season introduced more characters and way more differing issues. I loved how they made their reasons for breaking up realistic (main girl breaking up due to the companies threat upon japan’s economy). The fiancée was the least annoying in this version and I liked how they brought her back at the end as a friend of the leads. Rui’s character in this season continues with saving main girl in dire situations and his character is simply ADORABLE, he really made the competition between him and male lead believable with how great of a character he was. I wouldn’t say I had second lead syndrome but rui’s character was definitely one to be adored. The main couple went through many trials in this season but got through it! It was satisfying to see how they held on to the “we are meant for each other” especially with the main dude. They added the amnesia plot at the end of things unlike other seasons where it was towards the beginning of the story but I really liked how they did that and recreated the elevator scene word for word for him to remember who she was it was adorable. The new characters we were introduced to head maid of the manor and Ken alongside others, were great! I didn’t expect ken’s plot line to be like that and I was surprised but it was a good addition to the plot line. This was a great continuation of S1 and I enjoyed it very much and was super satisfied when I finished! I highly recommend!!

The emotions of youth

I started this for wu lei and honestly kinda went in blind not really knowing anything but thinking it was a silly rom com. I WAS WRONG... ended up crying and having way more emotions than I thought I would. Personally, I think wu lei's youth centered films and dramas are incredible he always ends up delivering emptions and having you reeled in the whole time. The story was so great the way it focused on the emotions and turmoil of youth and dealing with change and accepting realities you don't want to. Ming was never shown but she didn't have to be I quite liked how it focused on wu lei's characters feelings rather than actual dialogue and meeting between these 2 characters. The main's unrequited love line was so.. I cant put into words but I was DEVESTATED but it really hit the message and emotions home. I LOVED the ending scene and how it was carried out it was so fitting and heart warming. Really enjoyed this movie and highly recommend!!! nothing but praises to the director and actors. Personally I don't think I'll rewatch this maybe in a few years but living through it once is enough to acquire a fondness to this movie :)

Started this for yu xi and cause it was short and this was such a sweet drama everything was short and sweet and the end was very satisfying. The theme of going back to get back ur happiness was executed well and while there was very mild angst in this it didn’t take over the overall happy mood of the drama which I liked! main couple had great chemistry and were so cute I enjoyed their moments. A simple and cute drama which is perfect for when u need a mood boost and not in the mood for a longer drama! I don’t really remember the ost so it’s nothing remarkable but the drama was well done!

Bof with a twist!

Hana nochi hare is the official sequel to Hana yori dango, however, they did drastically change bits of the story like the main girl is a heiress gone bankrupt and that the second male lead is her fiancé. In the first half I adored both male leads and couldn’t choose which one I liked better! The main guy’s character arc was cute and the hate between the main leads when they first met was very well executed in my opinion. Main guy had an obsession with domyouji and wished to become like him which was so cute and allowed for cameos of other f4 members as well as other characters such as the head maid and mom’s secretary which was a great addition to the story! I really liked how they added the main leads having dialogues in their head on things and their chemistry was pretty good. The dramas usage of Hana yori dango plotlines (like waiting in the rain by the meeting area like the leads of HYD) was so cute and I loved how they incorporated it like a fan service basically. Overall, I liked all the characters minus the step mom and main girls mom (as she was kinda annoying with how she couldn’t adapt to her new lifestyle and pressured main girl indirectly). However, the second half of the drama was a bit of a let down to the expectations that the first half built for me and I wish they had executed the main lead’s romance better rather than having the main girl confused between the 2 leads for the majority of the later half. The drama was still pretty good and definitely something you can watch when ur bored to pass the time
