I am trying to be fair when writing about this drama. From the first episode to the last I just saw a bunch of men brawling: there was brawling in a building, brawling a another building , brawling in a hotel , brawling on the wharf brawling in an underground garage and yet more brawling. The story was the typical Korean corruption story, good guys make a step and then fall 3 steps behind. If you like this kind of drama then you will enjoy this.
Why I was disappointed?

The characters:
The first 'Bad Guys' hit me hard. It was different. The criminals were not just senseless persons that went around throwing their fists- 'me man lets see who fists is tougher' while beating their chest. They were intelligent.

The story:
I am not comparing this to the first Bad Guys but I would think that if I am making something of the idea of something else then I would at least make it have something of the original. The first was an original the second was made from a blueprint of every other Korean drama out there. The only thing that was missed was amnesia. (I guess that would have been too ridiculous) If the child have not characteristics of its parents then it was probably adopted.

If you want a good action show I would recommend watching Heartless City instead.

I really really really disliked this drama! I feel like the odd one out...giggling. I started watching this drama because it was highly recommended and I finished it because I kept saying..."It gets better!"" Everyone said it was great! ""It gets better!" IT DID NOT!!!!!!!!! I have been known to re-watch dramas...ALOT! I have no desire to re-watch this drama.  I had several problems with the story line. I am still trying to decide what I hated more: -the idea that evil does not get punished? -the fact that the character would sacrifice the one the character say 'I love  you' to for a parent that is evil? -the character making excuses again and again for unethical behaviour?I can go on and  on. I know a lot of persons will disagree with me saying that this drama was not worth the hype. The actors were GREAT! Have no doubt about that. However I found the characters to be cliche, and unbelievable. How cliche? 1. Your parent is never wrong? 2. Once I discover that the person I HATE most in the world is the parent of someone I love. That parent is suddenly an angel of white.  Unbelievable. I don't hate my sisters but I will NEVER let a wrong against me go unpunished. Am I strange? Am I evil? I like to think not. Vindictive? Yes. Evil? No.So why? why would I let the person that I hate most go unpunished? After watching all episodes I was left angry, hurt and dissatisfied.I watch dramas for the ending... Yes, the ending where the good guys wins and the evil guys get punished. I don't get that in real life so I need to get my full of hopes and good things when I watch dramas.  This drama shattered my hopes. If I cannot expect hope in dramas, then .... allllll  hoooppppppppppeeeeeeeee  ...................................is lost.

'Punch' was one of my most anticipated drama of the year, however I was disappointed. Although this was a great story with great writing I felt that the writer 'stretched' the plot too much in order to create 19 episodes. There were many times when I felt that the Kim Rae Won's character was the only one that had a brain. I found Kim Ah Joong's character a total useless, brainless lump. I think this drama could have been completed in 14 episodes and totally stretched at 16 episodes (so 19 was just tooooooo much). Overall though it was a good watch and the suspense was so intense that there were moments that I bit my tongue...ouch!

One word to describe this drama. Great!
This was a phenomenal drama.
I will admit I was skeptical about how good this drama was. I was watching it waiting for the shoe to drop, but my head is still intact and I completed the drama. I was truly amazed at how well written and acted this drama was.
Pros:
1. This was a drama about the throne without the 'drama' of the throne just the 'game' of the throne.
2. Although you knew the ending of the drama by episode 10 you still could not predict what would happen and the ending still surprised you.
3. Brains will always win.

Cons: There was no romance of any kind! I repeat! no romance even though there were marriages.

Great acting
Some interesting characters

It was a good drama however I could not give it a full 9.

Truthfully I would have liked this drama much better if the main actress character was more realistic and not so annoying. As a fellow female of the 21st century I know one this for sure...no matter how much I spent for a bag or how much I loved that bag as soon as there is someone threatening my life I would leave it and run. The character always remembered to carry her handbag even when she is leaving life saving medicine and equipment. Seriously, who is going to ask for her driver's licence(British spelling..lol) in that period of Korea?
I also found some of the villain's actions ridiculous and repetitive. There were many instances when I was like...'Really? WTH!?????'

I thought the male actors were great, They were the ones that made the drama enjoyable. Lee Min ho did a great job in this drama but the King was really good. I like this character a lot and the actor made me really empathized with him although he was weak and useless.

This started out as the usual nice girl who is grown up by a person who abuses her but she don't see it as abuse. The kind that drives me crazy with the usual ... 'she is my mother' when everyone around is saying ...'she does not treat you as a daughter'. Zhang Guo Guo almost had me pulling my hair out because I could not get to hers. She was so annoying when everyone (even a 6 year old child) kept telling her that her mother treated her badly and she refused to even acknowledge it.

what I liked:
I felt better when Zhang Guo Guo found her true self. she showed that you can be nice and at the same time not have others abuse you.

what I did not like:
There was one thing I did not like about the drama: the ignored rights of fathers.
