Haha so make sure you don't have any tests or finals you need to study for while watching this drama.
I loved it. I hardly rate any drama's ten, and I rate this one a ten. This is definitely one of my favorites.
Acting/Cast: Ji Sung did an absolutely amazing job with his character. Everytime he changed his personality he really changed, I could hardly recognize him. He was also very moving, I cried so many times. He was great.
As for the rest of the cast, they did a good job too.
The only reason I give this category a 9.5 is because of Hwang Jun-eum's crying.... When you watch it you will see what I mean.
Music: Very good music
Rewatch Value: The only reason I give this a 9.5 is because I don't really rewatch dramas. But if I had to, I would probably rewatch this one.

Story:
The story is soooo unique. I love time travel dramas in general, but have never seen one even a bit similar to this one. The main character Otaro/Eight is a complex character, and is very manipulative. I love him, and sometimes I love to hate him; he is so intriguing throughout the whole drama, and the way his character develops and changes throughout the drama is amazing. With Otaro being such a unique main character I think you could suspect the romance isn't quite like other dramas. The romance is different and is not very lovey dovey, but it is still verrrry good, their chemistry is just amazing. I would have to say this story's focuses are mystery, manipulation, changing for the better, and lots and lots of twists (as to be expected in time travel dramas). Everything is so well crafted.... I just love it.
Acting/Cast:
The casting for this was just perfect, I think the actors did an amazing job.
Music:
I have no complaints with the music, and I loved the theme song. Just great music in general.
Rewatch Value:
I don't really rewatch dramas, however I do think I will probably rewatch this when I show this to my sister. I show her some random dramas I think are good, and I think this is definitely next on the list.
Overall:
Great drama, please watch it. You won't regret it!

Story: The story for Hwarang could have been better. The main story was not that bad, what killed it for me is that they really didn't focus on it too much. In my opinion, the beginning was really more intriguing than the end; in the beginning it had a very playful vibe, but the vibe completely changed towards the end... It just felt like a different drama all together. Most episodes consisted of smaller stories that had no real impact on the big picture. Plus the romance seemed kind of forced... I don't think it was the actors fault, the story just didn't have key moments to make the romance feel more real and give chemistry between the two. It's hard to explain without giving spoilers but it just didn't work. I also found myself suffering from second lead syndrome so that kind of affected the way I viewed the main couple. However, overall the story line was entertaining; I just think they could have done a better job at it. Acting/Cast: I absolutely love the cast of Hwarang, in fact that is what drew me to this drama in the first place. I think the acting wasn't bad; it was dramatic at time (but what Kdrama isn't dramatic right?), but that isn't necessarily a bad thing unless you don;t enjoy dramatic Kdramas. My biggest complaint in the acting would have to be the amount of crying Ah Ro did; I felt like they overdid it with her crying.... she cried so much... but overall, good acting! Music: Loved the OST, I actually purchased some of it and listen to it on a regular basis. But just a warning, the music does get really dramatic at time... like too dramatic; that's my main complaint with the music. Rewatch Value: I don't really rewatch dramas (only ones I really, really love) and I wouldn't rewatch this one. Was this review helpful to you?
