This is my second watch-through of "Together With Me". I do believe it's worth a watch, but ....
Okay, so I watched this BL before a few years ago and I couldn't remember anything from it besides the main leads. I wanted to rewatch it and see if my opinions were the same as they were during the first watch. I didn't hate this series, but I definitely didn't love it either.
I don’t think this BL deserves an overly low rating because the acting and cast choice were really good. Max and Tul played their characters well, same goes for the other actors playing their support roles. The actors did a good job of making me love or hate either character. Now, with that being said I didn’t like how some of the story went. I will give it props for having a good plot line and a good story that revolved around not only Knock and Korn's problems but also Farm and Brights.
Let’s focus on the main story and do a slight overview.
I strongly believe that what happened between Knock and Korn in the first episode were both of their faults. Both were equally drunk and did something stupid. Knock only blaming Korn was stupid and childish. I understand his fear and hatred, but I think it was more towards himself. I don’t think he realized that and just chose to blame Korn.
Instead of hiding what happened from Plern, he should have talked to her, but regardless I think things would have gotten out of hand due to her personality. She’s manipulative and kind of narcissistic. She seems to care for Knock, but at the same time, she only cares for herself. After she finds out what is going on between Korn and Knock I can understand her hatred and being upset. Yes, she took things way too far instead of talking things out with Knock, but he is also in the wrong. At this point the only person to not do anything wrong is Korn. I wouldn’t say he’s completely innocent since he does still go after Knock in a way, but he isn’t borderline psycho enough to manipulate him into leaving her.
Knock is honestly the second worst next to Plern. He kept giving Korn false hope. I understand trying to get a grasp of your thoughts and feelings, but if it ended up being him staying with Plern, Korn would not have been the same mentally. Knock already blamed Korn for so much and no matter how many times he either tried to prove himself or apologize he just ignored it and believed whatever Plern told him.
On a side note; the support characters.
Yihwa was the only character with a brain trying to figure all of their problems out. She didn’t want anyone to bad mouth her friends and she stood by finding the culprits. She was by far one of my favorites.
Fai was a nice comedic character that was part of the group. She didn’t get too much time to shine and it was kind of disappointing. She is a very lovable character that I think could become so much more given the screen time.
Phu and Kavitra were a nice side couple. I don’t usually like Professor x Student trope, but that's mainly because of the huge age gap. I believe, and I may be wrong, but they only had 4 year age gap. If they had their own short series I would have loved to watch it.
Farm and Bright… Dear God this was messy. I hated Bright from the beginning. I honestly could not like him at all. He infuriated me with how much he manipulated Farm. He was just starting to like Prae, as much as she was a little obsessed, and be okay with dating her. I’m not saying this because I don’t think Farm should be with her or straight, but Bright manipulated him to the point of ruining his own birthday. Farm isn’t gonna be able to take anything good from his first relationship with a man. He even ends up being a little pib of a player himself, and that honesty is all because of Bright.
I do believe this BL is worth a watch. I sat down and reviewed every episode by itself so I could have a better understanding of the story. I did enjoy it even if I do hate some parts of it. This was one of the dramas that introduced me to Thai BL, so I can’t hate it too much in a certain sense. I would recommend to ignore how it feels at the beginning. It feels slow and dated slightly, but that’s not a bad thing. Keep yours;f open to it na you might like it.
