Pretty good
Overall: This was the first C-drama I watched due to the positive ratings. It has been a while since I watched the show so my memory might not be as fresh. The show is very cute and comfortable to watch, a nice cliche. I did have a few issues with it though. I recommend watching it if you want a light drama.
Story:
The story is very typical, not very unique love triangle. There's nothing wrong with it being a cliche either. However, there are certain parts of the show that I feel were underwhelming or underplayed that could have enhanced the overall watching experience. For instance, FL is shown to be a gifted artist at the beginning and during random parts of the show. I think that her being an artist really doesn't have much effect to the plot because they barely showed her doing anything artistic - she only used her artistic skill whenever it was convenient or to make certain plot points work (like with the graduating thing). To fix this, they could have made art a more prominent aspect of her life and show maybe her peers looking down on her because they don't believe art is a viable career, etc. This way, we can feel more of an association between FL and her artistic talents. Another issue I had was that the reason FL started liking ML made little sense to me so I didn't feel much regarding their relation to one another. The characters didn't really develop that much, though, ML did change a noticeable amount as he grew older but honestly I would have preferred if he stayed the same. I didn't really like the way ML behaved as an adult, he changed completely from what we thought we knew about him and became worse (in my opinion). I felt sad for SML a few times because he really sacrificed a lot for FL and didn't really get anywhere with that. There are a lot of misunderstandings and miscommunication between FL and ML that could have been easily avoided. I don't mind dragged on misunderstandings but I also don't appreciate a misunderstanding that drags on for a couple of years without the show SHOWing us the implications/side effects it had on the characters. The show instead just did a " _ years later" then gave a half baked explanation of how the characters felt at the time. Also, ML and FL's relationship was kind of mundane and the show didn't really give us a reason to admire their relationship or to think it's cute or ideal or anything like that, it was just "ok they're dating I guess" vibes. There are a lot more things but honestly I don't want to get too into it because these are pretty much just problems I had and you might not mind these things so don't let this deter you too much,
Acting/Cast:
I think everyone's performance was phenomenal but I didn't really know about Hu YiTian because his character is just cold, pokerface which made me a little bored because even his smile looked neutral 😠(although it probably isn't the actor's fault since he's playing a pokerfaced character).
Music:
The intro song is nice but the rest of the music is just okay, I also forgot about the rest of the music so I can't say much else.
Rewatch Value:
Well I guess it could be fun to see how ML changed but honestly that's it. It's a very simple plot (nothing wrong with that) which isn't worth rewatching since it's a still considerably long show. With shows like these, there really isn't much after it's over because it ended pretty nicely, IMO it's not a completely full and satisfying ending but it's alright.
TLDR;
- Some plotpoints weren't used to their full potential
- Not much character development apart from the leads
- I like you, you'll know it, is a great song
- Certain plots were glanced over
- Poorly executed misunderstandings/easily solvable misunderstandings that for some reason weren't resolved sooner
- Cute show
- Light watch
- I recommend you watch it
