lacks in comparison to s2 imo

i started watching this on a whim earlier this week after watching s2 sometime in 2020. i did know the major spoiler going into this drama, but i really loved mumu x yizhou from s2 so i thought i would give this a go. i ended up skimming through most of the second half (anything after chu yan getting kidnapped and yizhou's mom and stepbro getting more screen time). mumu and yizhou were still adorable ofc but i don't think they tugged at my heartstrings as much as they did in the second season. this drama really put through them everything tho, from amnesia, getting shot and being in a coma, getting kidnapped several times, etc. the highlight of the drama for me was chu yan's development - specifically him developing feelings for xia lin, i didn't care for chu yan in second 2 that much, but he's such a baby here ahh. and xia lin and jia fei being convinced for like 1/2 the drama that yi zhou is gay and there's a love triangle b/w him, wen li and chu yan. oh i also love wen li as usual, tho i think there was better development b/w him and jia fei in the second season also. the villains here were super obvious from the get go, and def went to more extreme lengths compared to the s2 villains. pi dan deserved more screen time. overall: s2 > s1 anyday lol but still a fun time!
