Of all the BL I've consumed recently, this one is definitely up there in terms of the actors and their chemistry. The main couple is outstanding when they are together, and all the flaws in the plot are outshined by what they bring to the table as actors. That said, there were some things about the storyline that bothered me, and season one fell off for me around episode 8, and I really struggled to get through the remaining episodes.
Episode one was also very hard to get through, as the version I found online was low quality and it starts kind of out of nowhere, and doesn't provide much of anything except confusion and not a hint of BL until the very last scene. I could have skipped it altogether, to be honest, and wouldn't have missed anything important.
The cast of this show is large, and there are straight storylines in addition to the main BL pairing. There is also some representation (questionable, but representation nonetheless) for the 'ladyboys' from the Angel squad, who provide comic relief but also some valuable moments in the background as the show progresses. One moment in particular really impressed me, as one of the characters was advocating for the Angel squad, and made a comment about how we can't judge people based on their gender identity. I really think that scene was important, especially since this came out in 2014. The other straight pairings are really simple side plots, with little outcome at all by the end of the first season. I think they were just there to balance out the BL, considering I've read that this show was kind of the pioneer of BL series in Thailand.
The main couple developed well, genuinely, innocently, and beautifully. Their chemistry is excellent and I love that they take some time apart after almost kissing to figure out their feelings. It's so well-done, I give their relationship a standing ovation.
The only downside is that they both have girlfriends throughout the season, and that drives me nuts. It's a theme I see in a lot of series and it just tears me up inside and ruins a lot of stories for me, but it's definitely personal. It's more tolerable in this series than it was in Make It Right (oh my goodness that one was so much), but they are all still together at the beginning of season 2 and I wonder how long I will have to suffer through that.
