First off, the cinematography is off the chain. The story stays true to its intention, to highlight the jewelry business and silk road trade during the Tang Dynasty. The story could have gone the safe route but no, they've shown how cruel the world can be at times. The journey from slave to business owner was gradual and believable with occasional pitfalls along the way. This shows that there is opportunity for growth and success as long as you continue to strive for it. Although there is romance (chemistry is fire), there is also a focus on friendship and family.
