Short review
So, I'm just gonna say that this drama is so fresh and hilarious. Miaoyi and Jun's chemistry is on par and at the same time, it's so cute. I've never laughed like this. I've also loved the kids who acted as Chao Chao and Tutu. 😠They're so cute. Every episode is funny af.lmao. I couldn't forget that part where XiaoTu was literally thrown out of their house, and yet she's so happy af.
indeed, it's worth the wait. I just don't like the way they just throw all the episodes in one day, now it's spoiled. But carats are hilarious thought. Their edits are epic.
Now, gimme Wen Junhui in costume drama.

Ray Of Light short review
Okay, so to be honest, I didn't expect this drama to be so good, from the plot, genre, to the cinematography, to the characters and their execution and everything. I don't know how to express my love for this drama. It's so good that I was always awed while watching it on Youku.I can't wait to watch the upcoming episodes.
reasons why y'all have to watch this:
• Great plot
• Slice of Life drama would never disappoint
• Relatable characters
• Great acting skills from the leads
• Cinematography
• Dialogues and the monologues
• Realistic
• The angst is so good
If you're into romance, please leave this one alone. It isn't romance, this is for those who loves slice of life.

Genre: Youth/family urban drama
Number of episodes: 24
Broadcast platform: Youku TV
Personal rating: 10/10
Synopsis
Strength:
• I've always been a fan of urban dramas and this one has to be one of my favorite urban drama. This drama provides something that I've looking for a youth drama. The plot is so good as it addresses different societal issues such as fixed marriages, family quarrel, neighborhood gossips, youth issues, and etc. The way the whole drama describes how bond is stronger than blood, and how blood is thicker than water.
• Ren Min and Gou Junchen have that chemistry which can not be seen by physical contact nor by intimate scenes. In fact, they compliment each other really well despite the drama being wholesome. Two persons don't need to be intimate to see if they have chemistry. They just have that by existing. Char HAHA
• I've also want to point out how balance the scenes and the sequence of every scenes are. Like, it isn't too dramatic, nor too funny. It's just in moderation. But one thing is for sure, it gives you the emotions that you can only have at home. As I've said, it's one realistic drama which will make you think that these things happen in reality. Say for example, every person differ from one another just like how students differ from another student. Some are not really stupid, nor dumb, they just often had a hard time understanding context and clues. Some are also not that smart, but since they work so hard, they get a lot of grades. Each individual have their own specific coping up mechanism.
• The drama describes bond as stronger than blood. If you have watched the drama, you know what I mean.
• Life lessons:
- Education is meant for everyone. No matter what circumstances, if you want to go to school, you can. Don't listen to people saying you're too old for school, education is for everyone.
- Never marry off your daughter to someone who you barely knew. The tendency of failed marriage is high.
- Expecting doesn't hurt, assuming does.
- Bond is stronger than blood.
- Family should always be above all priority.
- Grades is not a measurement of someone's worth.
- Love can always wait.
• One thing, you will fall in love with all the casts. I love the kids and their parents. 😠it's a family, or community goal for me.
Weakness
• While the drama is so good for my personal taste, I think the only lacking is the love lines. Well, I think since the drama focuses on family, and the community they're living in, it's forgivable. I just wish they could have add a spice of love. This one literally has no "kilig" moments, mga minors lang. 😅 I think it's good though. Junchen and Ren Min looks like they're siblings tho.
Over all, the drama is so good that I had a hard time moving on from everyone in the drama including the parents. 🤧

What's good about The Longest Promise
Well, personally, I've been so fed up with xianxia dramas with repeated concepts. I understand that most xianxia dramas involve reincarnation, multiple lives and all, but I just find this concept too used. The thing is I've already read the novel "Zhu Yan" and so far, I really love the story of Zhu Yan and Shi Ying. The novel is actually a xuanhuan, but the drama is a semi-xianxia because so far, I've seen few changes from the original piece. The added scene (the childhood part) is amazing, knowing how shallow the first meeting Zhu Yan and Shi Ying in the novel. One thing I love about the drama version is the fact that both actors are doing really great in portraying their characters. I've always picture Shi Ying as elegant, and as handsome as hell like Xiao Zhan. I've always known how good is Ren Min when it comes to expression herself, be whatever role that is.
I love how the drama give emphasis to the entanglement of Ah Yan and Ying's life without ruining the added scenes.
The one I'm looking forward the most actually is the scenes after volume 1.

"We don't need to be sympathized. We ask for equality."
"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion," Su Nianqin says.I admit, though I stan Lin Yanjun, I was not that confident in his acting skills cause he's just an amateur but after watching the 8 episodes of CRUSH, I must say, he did great. I was awed at his performance. For someone who's a first timer, he's nailing it. Acting like blind is not easy. He needed to attend a lot of workshops to perfect his role and I wanna salute him cause everything is worth it. For Wan Peng, she's always been great for me. Personally, I think this is my favorite character of Wan Peng. Sang Wuyan is very unpredictable. She has a lot traits and Wan Peng is doing a good job especially when it comes to shifting of emotions. The playful side of Sang Wuyan is just natural and overwhelming.
This drama just exceeded my expectations. You see, I've read the novel and I actually memorized everything inside the novel and so watching the drama is just a bonus.
The scenery, the osts, the timing and the flow of the story is just an A for me. And also, the filterless ambiance is what beautifies the drama. Y'all everyone shall agree with me. The ambiance is just so natural. It feels I am watching 90s movies with a touch modern contemporary arts. The nature-like effects that the production team used is very comforting.
I wanna commend also the exchanges of dialogues from the casts. It amazes me every time Su Nianqin says something that could definitely bring you back to reality.
And one thing is for sure, the message that the drama wants to convey is very clear.
Disabled people don't need sympathy nor empathy, what they need is equality and too bad, the society couldn't give that to them.
