Bad writing and slow pacing.

I didn't enjoy this drama. The pacing is slow and the writing / story isn't good. The FL character tried my patience with the insipid behaviour whenever the ML enters her orbit in the first 15 episodes. Struck dumb and timid every time he talks to her and he walks all over her. This is such a huge contrast and contradiction to the younger version of the FL character when she was a student. This is when the viewers can see what is it about the FL that attracts the ML and how they formed their relationship.

If the FL could overcome the challenges of living and interacting with foreigners in the US and has a good solid career, it makes no sense she becomes a craven when she meets the ML. It's not as if she committed a crime against him and inflicted a serious physical injury.

The hairstyle of the FL is awful btw.

Entertaining story and Characters

The headline summed it up.

The changeover of the ML who was initially concerned with himself, his ambition and the money he can get in the beginning is typical but the character is interesting in that he's physically talented, smart, discerning and perceptive. He could read the room and the people he interacted with and immediately get on with them.

The FL is as capable and on par with the ML so it's fun to watch them get together when they realised they have the same goals. Their journey has its ups and downs but they overcame to triumph so it's satisfying to see them seal their relationship at the end.

Entertaining

As a supernatural drama, there's nothing too grisly and macabre. Nor did the producers employed too much jump scares. The most viewers will see are shadows flitting past and ghostly mien that are not off putting. The lore of sending off discontented ghosts is nothing new and spelled out clearly; for C to happen, A and B have to take place etc.

The MLs and the rest of the cast are excellent. The development of the characters is an interesting and enjoyable journey. Of course I have to laugh at the requirement that the psychics have to be virgins. Typical routine to throw in some humour.

I hope there is a season 2 as there is plenty of space for all the characters to develop further and it will be a joy to watch the adventures of the group. If there is a season 2, I hope the same cast return and that the writers introduce a new interesting foe than break out the old one.

Good story and cast

This is a period piece that took me by surprise. It could have been a little longer to deal with some aspects of the story but overall, this is very enjoyable to watch.

The story and pacing is good and the cast is great. The question of how the FL is going to resolve the problems tease and lead the viewer forward to the next episode. Her courage, intellect and talent leads her forward despite the obstacles she faces. The ML is solid, intelligent and takes his time to judge and assess the situation and people. He's calm, collected and always ready to support the FL even as he harbours uncertainties about her. The quick injection of humour here and there scales up the entertainment.

This is a drama I can watch many times as it has excellent rewatch value.

Romance Fluff

First, there's potential to the story. Second, the cast is good which is why I became more and more frustrated as the episodes piled up. I dropped it at ep 14 and went to YT to see the last few minutes of the ending.

It is meant to be what it was drawn as; a comic romance. The entire drama revolved around the two main leads getting together and trying not to be caught. The problem is, the environment around them didn't try very hard to be an obstacle. I cringed every time they were together in the last few episodes I watched and concluded romance dramas definitely isn't for me. The knowledge that it isn't possible for the two main leads to get together so easily makes it so much harder to watch. More so when the FL is cross dressing, a Crown Prince and a King later.

Royalty is always stringently protected, there is always an entourage and there are always bodyguards. More so for crown princes. I would have preferred the drama take on a serious tone, better written and directed to show the intellect, creativity, talents and skills of the FL to plan her way through the obstacles around her and how the ML supported her through his abilities. That the relationship between her and the ML is subtle and yet powerful. This would have made it more interesting, imo.

As it is, the potential is wasted, more so with a good cast for this drama. They're not fully utilised.
