Tomboy meets metrosexual guy in dynastic period & ignore what people say

Simply said, "I loved it!" :) A series where the main characters defy what's accepted as the gender roles during their times to just be themselves with a little conformity here and there. This series just kept me laughing and smiling then eager to get back to the main couple, Ye Zhao (Ma Sichun) & Zhao Yujin(Sheng Yi Lun), whenever the main plot shifted back to the issues of betrayal, murder, war & dethronement rose up outside of them. It was nearly impossible for me to stop watching, especially with how sweet, spoiled but brave & adorably bratty Peter Sheng's character Yujin is in this series and the way Sondra Ma's character, Ye Zhao's, bravery, loyalty, strength and mischievousness perfectly fits Yujin. They both grow as a couple. Ye Zhao's powerful presence is balanced out by Yujin's seemingly meekness & beauty. Both of them are beautiful and Yujin dancing is just as gorgeous to watch as Ye Zhao practicing her martial arts. Yujin's constant use of "bah! (pēi, 呸)" that it flows so easily every time he says it, forever makes it his trademark phrase for this character to me. XD From the music to the effects, they were done quite well lol except!! there was a road/path that was taken 3 or 4 different times, looked the same each time, but was still being used and messengers kept getting killed. There was a bit of a rush on revealing the identity of the spy who betrayed the Ye family, but all in all, this was an enjoyable series to watch!

I was especially pleased to hear and later find out that Peter Sheng did both the opening and ending songs for the series. He has a beautiful singing voice. Hu Qing & Qiu Shui, beautiful couple. Xiyin & Haerdun would've also been a beautiful couple if not for their tragic end. The cast & crew are to be praised. Old Minister Yang & Grandpa Ye show you that just because they've been kissed by time, they still got moves to amaze & tickle you. To my surprise, an actor I've seen in 3 other series so far, Zhao Zhen Ting is very adorable and petulant as Xu Duohua!!! I love him being able to fully express the character he plays. As Xu Duohua, Zhao is just really expressive & sweet! So happy to see him in this series <3

So you have to see it all the way through to the end! lol they'll make you laugh time & time again. I'll be honest though, the end, I mean the very end was sweet but ... I feel like they could have given us a glimpse of Ye Zhao pregnant, Yujin at the delivery and a view of all their kids. That would've been nice to see.

Worth watching

Honestly, I didn't read the summary of this one. I just saw the title and thought "it sounds kind of cool," watched and was not disappointed. I was surprised at what general met in the bridal chamber & half laughed in shock. The beginning feels a bit rushed, but the cast has great chemistry. Kathy Chow & Mark Du both portrayed their characters really well. I wouldn't have minded if this was a series and then we'd get to see if Princess Wang Xuan could find a solution - defy the odds girl! Don't know what I mean? Watch it & see. <3

A bit angsty with drawnout teases! haha Worth watching ;)

Now, to prepare you... it's a little strange that the whole time they have us falling in love with all the characters (for me in particular it was Wayu ;)), while one character's face is completely unseen! I mean, they did a great job on that and not even a slip up or distinguishing mark could be seen to tell him apart from a random stand-in or just in case one of the other characters filled in for as his back haha! But the thing that's sad and troubling is the constant pain Wayu's in with splashes of happiness. In truth, some breakups are never clean or easy nor do they all mean the person hurting does reckless things or drowns themself in alcohol or drugs to cope; this series let's us see that through Wayu's experience. The mysterious Pha's actions starts to feel possessive, almost toxic to me... I found that very refreshing and despite the takes around the rain & shower scenes near the beginning, Wayu actor Bass does an amazing job displaying the emotions of his character. He has an amazing voice too... boy can sing to me anytime!!

Hey, also if you've endured the torture of wanting & watching your two favorite characters almost kiss and think you can tackle the same for nearly 4-5, 60+ min episodes straight, then baby, this right here's a teasing pleaser!

Overall, I love the inclusiveness of the stories, circumstances of all the characters and commend the writers, cast & directors/producers for keeping all the stories distinct & clear. The chemistry & cohesiveness of the cast makes me want to see the behind the scenes clips even more!! The star couple, Mark & Kit, I just love them and then there's a hint of something else with Sandee... He himself indirectly gets told "not everything is as 'he' himself sees it," nor is it set in stone. lol yes these are my words summing up an incident that I felt had meaning. Specifically, it felt like a warning that he shouldn't take actions himself... but he does y'all & if you watch it, you'll see what I mean. Well, I hope this helps & you enjoy the series as much as I do/did! I'm always happy to talk about whatever you've seen that stands out too!

Happy viewing!

"I don't operate like that" <3 <3 I just want to see more of Shi/Si-Mok!!

Haha, hey I was being honest! Not only am I here to see more of actor Jo Seung Woo as Hwang Si-Mok, but I'm excited to see so many mature actors in an intense, smart and captivating series where they are playing roles outside of traditional roles! Si-Mok makes the show for me & his interactions with Bae Doo Na's character Han Yeo Jin - the other characters too, are worth while. I keep watching to see if he reveals more emotion & just how much he does. I'm so thrilled & happy they did a second season!! They just upped the intensity and I fall in love with the characters all over again! Si-Mok, even if he didn't have the surgery or condition that led to it when he was younger, he's relatable to the people like me who just work, socialize a little, get out a little with no interests in sports or games. He's just gorgeous <3 and now he's pitted against a dear friend in his heart, who understands him better than most. Watching this, you'll also discover just how much you really feel for an annoying but likeable, annoying, semi-endearing & intelligent character that puts you on edge as the suspense is turned up (I discovered that I really like him). This episode had me tense and tearing up at the end. He's so lucky to have two people like Si-Mok & Yeo Jin looking for him, especially Si-Mok. Si-Mok knows him well <3 Please be alive you lovable jerk! Boy oh boy I wish there weren't only 16 episodes or just this season!

Another quick tangent, I think I'd love to watch a series about Si-Mok finding love & reconnecting with his closed off emotions with potential health problems that subdued intense emotions could cause him.

I absolutely loved this & the last episode was done so well, just like me, you'll be smiling with him as it comes to a close. One of the best sequels!

Loving the series "My Country: New Age"! Yang Se-jong (as Seo Hwi) is amazing. The interaction, friendship & emotion portrayed by him & Woo Do-hwan (as Seon-ho) in the series feels authentic, sincere and fun. Seo Hwi's disappointment, the moment he takes to control his emotion when facing his sister, was so tangible-real. I can relate so much to him in that painful moment. Yang Se Jong is a very talented actor and seeing his performance as well as the rest of the cast in this series, is just amazing. I'm also loving Ji Seung-Hyun as Park Chi-do, I like the mysteriousness, serious expression he always has & the loyalty he conveys well as this character. He is amazing, and handsome too! They are doing a beautiful job and I was hooked by episodes 1 & 2! I'm looking forward to how the series ends. Thank you so much!

It's a nice break from all the palace betrayals & killings

I came looking for Ryan Zhu/Zhu Yuan Bing and got a two for one deal! lol Xie Bin Bin is also staring in this movie!! I'm so thrilled! I love Xie's expressiveness and was looking forward to seeing him again! But I didn't expect that he be casted in a role where he loses his wife/wife to be before he's even won her over two times in the same year! This is apparently the first time and Chang'an Youth was the second with the same actress (Uvin Wang) that his character loses the lady he's initially paired with and the 2nd lady dumps him. Although the character he's playing (Chang Xu/ General Chang) seems harder than the Chang'an Youth's TangTang, it still sucks that he got the short end of the stick again.

Seeing Zhu's character was a momentary distraction, but nicely done. This movie just feels like an interlude, an excerpt from another time and escape from all the betrayals and killings that sometimes dominate period dramas involving palace figureheads. Thanks for the hard work & the subs!

"There's something about MuJin"

I almost feel like this could have been renamed "There's something about MuJin" because people were falling for her left and right. To start, I instantly liked MuJin as a little girl! Haha did MuJin just bite his butt cheek!?! XD You gotta do what you have to when a knife's involved! XD And young Qi Feng is so darn adorable with his willfulness! Seeing them all as kids made me want to see 10 or so episodes more of their adventures. There were only a couple occasions where the scenes seemed to end abruptly or jumped from A to D, which could have had a smoother transition because it seemed like either footage was omitted or edited out for reasons unknown & they just went on with the story as if it were understood. It left me feeling a little cheated. Although the relationship between Fei Bai & Mu Jin was developing, I found myself more interested in the support characters like Fei Qing, Fei Yan, Fei Dai/Sima Ju, Yue Rong, Fei Yu (Li Hao Bin), Song MingLei, and Auntie (Lt) Chen. The character development for each of them was commendable and unique. I also liked how typically Princes& Princesses are all seemingly perfectly healthy, but the Princes each had some personal trauma whether it was physical or mental that they were tackling that was impeding their growth in some way. The music flowed well/match the different scenes. Each character's individuality, struggles, presence was expressed pretty well. So the acting, production was done nicely. The child actors were impressive too.

The only part that got me was (Spoiler!!! don't read this if you haven't watched the last episode yet!) FeiBai gives Sima Ju the throne to make up for all the years he was trapped in the dark place... Umm... who else thinks Sima Ju/FeiDai was given the raw end of the stick? His brother gave him one form of confinement in place of another, so he (FeiBai) can travel with his wife (>__<) (>__<)!!??!! FeiBai walking away with a smile just made me so sad & uncomfortable for FeiDai/Sima Ju!!! (T__T) But as emperor, I'd hope Sima Ju/Fei Dai could make the rules and travel too! He deserves to see the world. I hope he uses that beautiful mind of his to travel after basking in the light of day for a few months. I was originally hoping that they'd take turns. But at the end, they made it clear what happened. I'm foolishly hopeful, I'd like to imagine Sima Ju/Fei Dai faked his death instead and hopefully start a life away from all that mess he grew up in & away from Jinxiu who only hurts him. (T__T)

Doesn't deserve a low rating, it's pretty good

It's done very well, beautiful, funny, action packed haha (you'll see), well timed tail effects and the actors performances/chemistry were pretty tangible. The teacher is just... creepy & too touchy... There were a few areas that seemed to need some better editing maybe a scene or two added for clarity or put back if missing. I loved Bruce He (Li Ren Yu) the most! He's just gorgeous and capable; I looked forward to seeing him each episode interacting with Kent Tsai (Zhao Long Jie). ???? Thanks!

Despite the twists & turns at the beginning, it's so good & complex

The cast was & is amazing, they are 10 stars easy. The directing/producing, scene changes, alludes to past events at the beginning and near the middle needed a little something. The writers were doing great for the most part, lines were solid in some areas but the actors really shined through making it felt! It was a challenge & a mystery, with clear distinctions in each character's past & present selves. Hence the 9. The most moving & truthful part for me was how Jang KiYong & the little boy conveyed the pain & psychological trauma people who are abused go through. That they "put up with it" in hopes that the ones they love would stop, get over it & go back to loving them without the pain & abuse. They put up with it so much, for so long some... die with that hope. T__T

Good chemistry, one loud Eunuch! (Not much of a spoiler inside;))

To sum this up, it's a tale about contradictions between parents & their children, the innocents lost in an attempt to pursue progression and the love found in the process.

Hae Ryung!!! I love this girl!! I'm right there with her, *sigh* village spinster/maiden for life with books all around <3 but we can't have that, now can we? And the prince, Jin Yi Rim, is just too beautiful & cute not to stare at! haha and fall in love with. Yi Rim is like Cinderella and is so sweetly innocent, pure hearted, it saddens me when the only person he knows as his father shows him little regard and strips him of his joys.

Now an interlude, why's she's interested in the prince... "She needed someone she could throw at the tiger so she could runaway..." XD

This is soo fun & funny!! Love it, sound effects and all XD <3 Definitely worth watching

Difficult & hard to connect to the characters at first

The first six episodes make you feel like everything is going way too fast, almost thrown at you, that it makes you want to step back for a bit. But it's packed full of action and sincere sentiment that you stick around. After the first six episodes, it's well worth it and watching the series progress makes me feel invested in the show. The preview of the connections between the characters makes me want to see how things will work out now that changes were forced upon them.

Oh I love this! So much to say but no way to be sure I get it all & I'm much too lazy to site every episode I've looked at soooo here we go:
First off, all these princes are fine, hotties!! Each with their own appeal, uniqueness & intelligence that just makes it possible to love something about each of them. <3<3 We have Prince Li (Xu Jia Wei/Jovi Xu - Mr. Adorable!!)
Prince Li's the man!!

I liked the story, even though the fast friendship between the two leads felt like it needed a little something more or that some scenes on how they got there were missing. I thought it was done well, visually moving with imagery/sets/designs to support it. Imagine my surprise to see a familiar profile, pair of lips and distinctive brow when I started watching this movie?! Haha His gorgeous movements and eyes (can't forget those lips) caught my eye and at once, I knew who it might be... but just in case, wanted to see who this was among the Crane brothers. And it was Liu Hao Ran as Bai Long/ White Crane!! Now I feel the movie is too short to see one of my favorite actors performing and I want it to explore more about his character... or so I felt halfway in ;) *lips sealed*. I like international films and this was nicely done. So if you like them too, I recommend it - especially once you get to the end, I didn't expect it. I'm very pleased.

Working with what's out there for subtitles because I loved the series! <3 There's a sad emperor, easily led by his nose. The cast in this series are doing an amazing job and Chen Xiang as Xiang Shao Long, Zhao Zhen Yan as Lian Jin, and Niu Zi Fan as Zhao Pan (Emperor Qin) are easily my favorites! <3 Zhao more so. What a nice surprise Pan'er turned out to be in the series. I'm glad both Jin and Pan'er had Shao Long as a good friend/mentor. Especially Jin because there were so many times that-that Wu girl wouldn't have realized or cared he'd recovered or died while they're being held & manipulated. Another thing I like about this series is that you really get to see Cristy Guo (Xing Yun / Qin Qing ) act and she's just so amazingly lovable that I look forward to seeing how her characters changes through the series. The chemistry between Shao Long & Xing Yun is so sweet and natural that every complication they meet, I keep hoping they find away to be together and they get to have a happy life together. Lol AAAnd why does Xiao Bao (Xiang Yu) have such animosity for a man (Liu Bang) he just met? ? He's already picking fights, and is he jealous that Liu Bang got his Pop's attention! So cute but a sweet way to end with the beginning of their history together.

The feels are strong along with the acting. It shows the sadness that comes with war, as well as family power struggles, and treats us to beautiful locations/sets that are awe inspiring. The actors did excellent jobs considering this story/script had so many twists, boy I can't get enough of Liu Hao Ran's smile and Li Guang Jie’s character’s (Xi Yan) devotion. This story packs a punch with it's twists & although Asule, the main character, is not your typical hero, I love him for being himself & striving to to fight against the odds.

Excellent chemistry

This series is uniquely different with chemistry between the two main leads that comes off as real, simple & felt. Both of these actors are amazing, especially Pran's actor, Nanon, who's skills are really at the forefront as he conveys the wealth, depth and complexity of all the emotions, shuttered feelings Pran's character is dealing with every time he's around Pat/Phat, Ohm. I appreciate the lack of commonly over used or leading preconceptions/stresses such as "I am not gay," "I only like him not other men," "I am a man and have always dated girls all my life," and "The world will not accept us" haven't come up thus far. The central antagonist is the tangible rivalry between their two families and if that wasn't present, these two would've been something more than friends since high school. I always love it when you really get to know the main leads and you can tell they don't think they are weird to have feelings for the same gender and neither does it seem to be an issue with their friends. Just competition between different faculty and silly testosterone driven competition. I really love this series thank you
