Little Bit About Me:

A big lover of melodramas. Where there is angst, there is me. I mean, my favorite drama at the moment is literally called Unrequited Love. Hence a lot of my watchlists consist of forbidden romances like student-teacher and brother-sister pairings. Don't promote them in real life but they make for great angst when written in dramas.

My Goals:

Will finish and publish an article one day.... But watching dramas gets in the way and it is impossible to write an article about dramas without watching them. The dilemma, am I right?

My Rating System:

10 - An overload of emotions. It might not have been the best objectively, but I’ll never forget the happiness and angst it made me feel. Probably made me pull several all-nighters and miss my deadlines but it was worth it. Even contemplated writing a fanfic at some point. Regularly prays for the main actors to pair up again, space out randomly thinking about it, and imagined myself as a character in its world.

9 - A great drama. Maybe I wasn’t as emotionally invested as I would be for 10 but it still kept me interested and made the time spent watching it worthwhile. Objectively, the quality of acting and storyline are a bit lower than a 10.
8 - Good. This one is a bit all over the place. Sometimes the dramas I rate 8 are genuinely good dramas that didn’t really grip me as much, sometimes they had a few plot points I felt they would’ve been better without, and sometimes they had all the potential—quality acting and storyline—to be a 10 but disappointed me so greatly that they got demoted two spots. Most are objectively messier and less quality than a 9 though.
7. Decent. Had a similar potential as an 8  to be a great drama with one glaring difference. While an 8 utilized some of its potential but never all of it, which is probably why I get more mad at them, a 7 just flat out ignored all the good things it had going on and drove straight towards the cliff. It was only downwards from that point on. Or I was probably just really bored but only a few characters or plot points kept me watching. Most of the dramas I rate 7 are objectively pretty good with dramas like Secret Love Affair being REALLY good but maybe I was just not in the mood for it or I was just not its target audience.
6 - Mediocre. There was really never a potential. Great to pass time if you got nothing better to do. One common theme I saw with the few dramas I rated 6 is that they all had many cliches, which in itself is not a bad thing since all works have cliches and some use them VERY well. These just let the cliches overshadow everything and fell apart. Usually, you need really good acting or writing to not let the cliches become the drama but these had acting that was subpar, and/or stories too messy and confusing. Still, I hate-watched it and it was kind of fun to furrow my eyebrows at all the dumb decisions they made.
5 - Boring. A 6 and a 5 have little gaps in quality but at least a 6 had some stupidly hilarious moments for me to laugh at. A 5 probably made me think whether I was in a drama slump because of how boring it was. Contemplated dropping it many times. Sometimes a drama might have been a 6 but I probably wanted to finish it since it was short and then ended up rating it 5 out of spite for all the wasted time. Overhyped or highly rated shows also tend to go here. They are objectively good and many people find them enjoyable; I just maybe had high expectations and ended up getting really disappointed hence the harsher critique.
4 - Definitely something I would make a video about if I had a YouTube commentary channel. The Room by Tommy Wiseau of Asian dramas so this is actually the real 10. Seriously, good and great dramas are plenty but those that are genuinely bad yet hilarious in its horribleness are harder to find.
3 - I don’t really care about it. Similar to a 5 in how boring both are, except this one objectively had a worse quality. So objectively AND subjectively, it was not good.
2 - The actual 1. I usually try to give dramas at least a 3 because no matter how low bad they are, at least some work went into it. I will give fake deep dramas this rating without hesitation, however. You know, the ones that are obviously trying really hard to be different and edgy when we all know that it’s just another typical drama in its genre? Especially if people are blinded by fakeness and try to praise it as great, immediately a 1. I prefer dramas that are just bad to two-faced ones that present themselves as good. Sad dramas that try too hard to be tearjerkers also go here.
1 - Just straight up problematic. The creators probably had misogynistic, racist, colorist, or homophobic views and it showed through their work. Dramas that glamorize issues personal to me or try to downplay important historical events (aka propaganda) will also get this rating. I would give them a 0 if I could, to be honest.
