I’ve always loved stories, starting with my fondness for Harlequin romance novels. I was captivated by the heartfelt tales of love and adventure, finding joy in their emotional depth and escapism. But it wasn’t until I discovered dramas that I truly found my passion. Historical dramas, in particular, are my favorite—they take me to different times and places, filled with rich culture and intricate tales.
My journey into this world started with manga. I was captivated by the unique art and storytelling, and it wasn’t long before I ventured into anime. Fushigi Yugi was my first anime, and it completely hooked me. The magic, romance, and emotional depth were unlike anything I’d experienced before. It was so enthralling that I gave up reading Harlequin novels—anime had far surpassed them for me.
I dove deep into the world of anime and manga, collecting series after series. My circle of friends grew to include fellow otaku who shared my passion. But, as much as I loved it, collecting became expensive over time. That’s when my son introduced me to something new: live-action dramas based on manga and anime.
I was amazed by how these dramas brought my favorite stories to life. They had a way of captivating me that even surpassed some of the anime I’d loved. Watching Scarlet Heart Ryeo was a turning point—it opened the door to Korean dramas, and from there, I discovered Chinese dramas as well.
Now, I find myself drawn to these beautifully crafted stories from different cultures, each offering something unique while still holding onto the heartfelt storytelling I fell in love with.
