A guide on how to go from bad to worse
Why do I do this to myself? Like I disliked the first season. And yet, here I am, suffering through another season of TharnType and their dysfunctional, toxic relationship. Also, when I talk about characters, I am talking about the characters and not the actors who play them.
I feel like most of the series was a repeat plot of the first season – jealousy, a lot of it, and the two of them being bad at talking with each other. There was no real character development in the first season, so going into the second season that is happening 7 years later, I had high expectations. My mistake, I guess. I really expected a more mature couple that knows each other and can trust each other. Yeah, that’s not TharnType. Honestly, how did they even make it this far in the first place? And the fact that the two are not even public with their relationship?
Let’s talk about the whole Tharn & Type and Leo & Fiat mess. Honestly, I cannot hate Fiat. He was supposed to be the villain of this story. And while there are many things that I don’t think were okay, he is too cute for me to hate him. He can be quite unlikable at times, though. I really love his “friendship” with Leo. Leo is an amazing character and I really loved how he was keeping Fiat in line, preventing him from truly becoming a bad person. Even if his reasons might have been a bit selfish. One question though – who in their right mind would agree to Type’s stupid plan of getting Fiat to confess his feelings? I could never forgive someone for putting me through that, especially if they claim they love me. The way our “mature” couple handled the whole situation, on the other hand, was a mess. No communication, of course. Some violence. And a lot of tears. It’s like a repeat of season one, I swear.
We got two more side couples. They weren’t show that much, but I think they were adorable. But maybe not that memorable. I do not like how Khui and Seo suddenly became Tharn’s and Type’s neighbors again. It makes no sense.
And while on the topics that make no sense (or even less than usual), what’s up with the whole monk thing? It’s like they ran out of plot and had to throw something completely random in, so they had enough material for 12 episodes. It just doesn’t really go well with the whole flow of the story.
The OST was nice though. I also liked the way they included the problem of homophobic work environments and how hostile they can turn. Let’s not get into how Type could have done things better. I don’t have enough energy for it.
