Love and Redemption

Okay... Love and Redemption is a true gem!! It’s an utterly beautiful & unique show. It certainly did not disappoint as the story progressed. Instead, it became even more mesmerising.

Main Leads love story is magical, gut-wrenching, and yet so wonderful. Their love encounters various frustrating problems. Xuan Ji is literally the most powerful FL I watch in a Wuxia drama. And her boy Cheng Yi (Si Feng) really outdoes many ML in similar drama. Watching him and Xuan Ji, I felt happiness, sorrow, anger, and pain.

The rest of the cast was excellent as well. Everyone put everything they had into Love and Redemption, and it paid off. I am just so amazed at this show that it literally blows my mind. Like... How did they do it? 59 episodes and zero dull moments? So absurd it’s laughable 😂😂

Overall, this drama is absolutely incredible, from the story itself to the diverse characters.

MY FAVOURITES:
[1] Si Feng > [2] Teng She > [3] Brother Liu > [4] Wu Zhiqi > [5] Xuan Ji > [6] Yuan Lang

ENJOYED THE PLOT!!!

I have realised for some time now that Max is very adaptable and will always perform very well [especially under a director who knows what they are doing] and he did not disappointed in MOD. He stole the show. Period! Episode after episode.

I'm happy he and Tul got the opportunity to do a serious drama that addresses serious matters. I can honestly say, for myself and others alike, Manner of Death is a fresh offering in a BL. The plot was so good! While it gave fan service… it does not dwell on it, which doesn’t seem to please many people who were clearly hoping each episode would contain R-rated stuff. Too bad! Too sad! There lost!

ENDING: The way Tan expresses his love for Bun... literally the purest, most sincere declaration of love I have seen in BL ❤❤❤

Salute to MAX and TUL ✌✌

Amazingly Epic!!!!

My second time watching Jumong. I am falling in love with these characters all over again!

Song Gook is just so beautiful, strong, level-headed, and dedicated to his cost. Period dramas is his calling. These roles fit him like a custom-made suit. I am surprised he hasn’t been in any recent historical series—considering the amount that’s been coming out. As a fan, I am literally itching for him to get a new role soon.

(BEFORE HE LOST HIS WAY) King Geum Wa would have been among Historical best Kings. He was deeply loyal to Jumong and his mother… a devotion that stemmed from his love and friendship with General Hae Mo Su (Jumong father) Eventually, he came back to his senses.

I like Ye So Ya. She is modest and humble, and became Jumong wife because of circumstances… well, I am sure she loved him from the get-go. Don't even get me started on how much this woman endured, my Lord! She deserved that Queen title just as much as So Seo No. But Ye So Ya didn’t want the title anyways.

~~*~~

Second to Jumong, Oh Yi is my favourite! He's forever down for saving Ye So Ya. No hesitation.

Before they were assumed dead, I think, Oh Yi, believed Jumong didn't have any love for his wife because of his constant "lack of concern" look. However, when he witnessed Jumong suffering as he silently licked his own wound and pained for not saving his family, Oh Yi, who always looked saddened and surprised by Jumong's laid-back attitude regarding his wife and son... heart breaks as he now realise Ye So Ya was not merely another "woman" to Jumong, and his Commander and bother had lost what he most cherished.

After all those years, Oh Yi still remembered the way Ye So Ya looked. Just a mere glance and he knew. He saw Ye So Ya as his sister-in-law after she married Jumong.

What a wonderful man. Loyal friend and brother.

WHAT I HATED: The only think I dislike about this series is that Lady Ye So Ya didn't get more lines, especially when talking to Jumong. There were many times I wish they would allow her express herself more.

Not terrible. Not good. Just okay.

Coming into season 2 after watching season 1… It’s a good think I had no expectations. Perhaps because the cast is completely different. But just imagine my dissatisfaction if I had big hopes?

The acting is here and there. Sometimes it’s pure cringe. Sometimes it's tolerable. However, nothing felt natural or flow smooth.

There wasn’t much chemistry or connection I felt from either character. I really didn’t care about them at all.

I mean… If the characters themselves are unable to form deep bonds with each other, how should I, a viewer, connect with them?

To me, it's really OVERHYPE!! But I guess, to each their own...

Kang Seo Joon smile is everything... It's literally the only thing I connected to. Lol!

On a more serious note thou … I wanted to write my review after watching (that's been weeks upon weeks ago) However, when I noticed the million positive feedbacks, I was like... "Did we all watched the same drama?" I just couldn't get it. I still don't get it.

When you have a mini series -- actors must put in a lot of effort to make us (viewers) feel greatly affected, but I didn't get that here. So... I was left wondering if I had miss something that should deeply moved me because of all the high ratings "To My Star" is getting.

There are so many things I don't get, and don't buy. But I guess they thing because it is a drama viewers will just accept without question, otherwise... How could they leave so many plot holes? They must think we are idiots.

> I was very hyped about this drama. Always checked for updates. Desperate to see what’s coming next.

> I loved the cinematography! Loved the way the scenes were captured from every angle.

> I dig Ashile Tribe style. It just looked somewhat different and beautiful and ML always looked amazing .

> The fight scenes were something to watch. The music -- beautiful. I especially loved the comic input.

> The Long Ballad started off at a decent pace. I found it was very captivating. It was upbeat, but 30 eps in and I started to lose interest. In the beginning, without question, I knew what was driving Li Chang Ge ... but soon I was left to wonder what her purpose “really” is.  It got lost in transition and the memento the series started off with was lost somewhere around this time as well.

> The writers tried to make Li Chang Ge into some sort of Godlike saviour, but the way I see it— only the life she deeds important is important.

> Overall, the series isn’t bad but neither is it great. I really thought The Long Ballad would have been 2021 “2020 Love and Redemption”, in the sense that, Love and Redemption was such a great hit.

> Maybe I will pick it up again in another year or so. No promises thou. But hey! Go ahead and give it a watch. You all might like it better than I did.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!!!

So many people are bitter about this drama, and I just want to say...

Even if DB&M get a remake, I fear Pin Jun fate will not be speared. Not because they had a good relationship means they will stay together till the end. It's just one of those things. It happens in real life too.

Honestly, even if Hai Qing did not end up with Yan Fei--they would have still cheated. Even once! They are deeply attracted to each other, and the novel made that very clear. Yes! Hai Qing could've stayed at Pin Jun side, but would that have made either of them any happier? Hai Qing simply decided not to settle (like so many people do in their life) even for the love Pin Jun has for him. No matter how right it seems! So whether Yan Fei was right for him... whether they would breakup in two / three months-- was a gamble Hai Qing was willing to take because that high level of passion and attraction he felt for Yan Fei was worth it! It was real, and Hai Qing wanted it. He was drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

People also seem to think that Hai Qing had stopped wanting Yan Fei because he's dating Pin Jun (laughable!) that wasn't the case at all. He never stopped wanting Yan Fei. He just set Yan Fei aside until fate brought them together again.

> It is not a hard-hitting drama. Quite easy to watch. Endearingly warm and plays out very well. There’s some real sense of humour, a lot of adorable moments that would make you squeal, I sure have.

> FL is filled with cuteness, but seriously dense at times. Shan Shan definitely had a hard time understanding ML introverted personality. Since she’s so naïve, naturally, it would be difficult for her to read an atmosphere. Let me just add: Shan Sha alcohol tolerance is off the chart.

> Love ML! I especially love the way he gets FL to summit by threating her with pay-cuts and bounce reductions, and Shan Shan ain’t having that (girl would agree with anything if it meant her money won’t get affected) Hahahaha!

Both Leads dialogues are good, and it was great to watch their interactions.

SUPPORTING CAST:

> Huang You Ming played Wu Tong in Love and Redemption, but he looked especially beautiful in this series. His acting isn’t bad either. I could easily see him fit into the ML role.
I missed Zheng Qi and Shan Shan interactions. As the story progress, it became less and less. What a shame! Both are the most relax when they’re interacting (I don’t mean that in a romantic kind of way) Perhaps that’s why their interactions looked natural and fun to watch.

> ML Secretary. Her name starts with “M”. I like her. Usually, they’re in love with ML, but not here. Secretary face is always pleasant when dealing with FL.

> ML Childhood Friend. What a snake! (Hahahah!) It's been what, 10-12 yrs? If he didn't show interest during that time, even without her confession, he will never be interested. So annoying!

> Shan Shan's Aunt is crazy asf! The writers should have made her mute! Seriously.

Never thought I would watch till the end —since I tend to get bored real fast when it comes to dramas like Boss & Me (Historical with & without romance… Martial Arts… Wuxia… Adventure—are my favourite) However, I binge watched this drama and it was totally worth it!

Though the story is nothing original, everyone / thing was enjoyable in Boss and Me.

A loan-shark and a contemporary dancer. Storyline both intrigued and fascinate me!

The moment I saw the poster—I knew I must watch this mini-series. It literally captivated and compelled me.
You Make Me Dance is so beautifully choreographed—there isn’t a moment I did not like. I truly appreciate the simple scenes that are so sincere — it makes me feels warm and fuzzy.

I especially love the bond the creators showed us without making it overly sexual.

Truly a beautiful series that deserve more recognition and respect. I feel like it gets overshowed by other BL series that’s not even up to par. What a pity!

First and foremost, I enjoyed this drama. It started off strong but soon as K2 and An Na relationship kicked off—it suddenly became that type of drama. It does have some very slow parts.

Apparently, An Na is main FL, but she seems more like a second lead damsel in distress character. I don’t feel like she added much depth to the story. I don’t miss her when she’s absent. In fact, the drama atmosphere appears more mature when An Na is not present.

> Choi Yoo Jin & K2 <
Both are phenomenal, especially Choi Yoo. She is probably the most raw and interesting one of all.

I must say – The thought sharing between Madam Choi and k2 … What are they —Soulmate? It’s apparent every time they look at each other you can feel everything that's transmitting through their eyes. Their relationship is twisted, but even so, they understand each other quite well. K2 knows the way she's program. If Madam Choi said she didn't do something—K2 will believe her.

They would have been freaking HOT as a couple. Damn the writers. They could have put them together (clearly, they had more chemistry. Their interaction feels real and raw) K2 affection for Madam Choi could have been her redemption. But no! They had to take the CLASSIC APPROACH. (Sigh!)

Madam Choi is so gorgeous! I dare say more than An Na, who is also good-looking. But Madam Choi (even with age) is just –wow!

I couldn't stand Madam Choi in the beginning. She is ridiculously crazy, but she grew on me. (Hahahaha) This is the first time I love a villain more than someone who is supposed to be our FL

> Honestly, I can't explain what I liked about the series. The story is pretty cliché. Your CLASSIC— poor girl meets rich boy — story. However… it didn’t just mainly focus on the main characters, but also on their family situations.

> The entire cast is GORGEOUS!

> I like Lee Min Ho. Like him even more in “Faith”.

> I wasn’t sure how feel about Park Shin Hye’s character at the beginning and even though she he’s easy on the eye, her acting is average. (She reminds me of JIN SE YEON, who I don’t find particularly impressive at all.) Park Shin Hye is a weak lead. All she does is cry and complain, as if her life wasn't miserable before ML entered the picture. And why ML always chasing after her? Her legs are broken? She can't run after him? Her character is too exhausting.

> Choi Young Do and Kim Woo Bin character drove me nuts.

> YOUNG DO is such dangerous person who literally and physically assault people and their boundary. If not for wealth, I am sure he would have a wretched life after high school. Drinking problems. Dugs. He would just be a total sh%t!

> KIM WOO BIN: I find him disturbingly disgusting! He doesn’t have a pleasant look no matter the angle I view him from. Even when he’s trying to be nice to the girl he likes, it feels creepy. Worse, his constant emotional abused towards his little brother. He’s that type of person who should live a very, long, lonely life and die pitifully without anyone feeling sorry for him.

I started this drama years ago, but never finish. I feel proud and accomplish now having complete it. Overall, I don’t regret spending hours watching. It was enjoyable, for the most part.

The Heirs is a romantic K-Drama in its true form, and if that gets you going, give it a try.

My take on Kingdom of the Winds… life of Jumong's grandson, Moo Hyul

Compared to the greatness that is Jumong… I would say this series is somewhat lacking. It's by no means as epic as Jumong. However, I genuinely enjoyed it, so much so, that I have seen it more than four times already (lol) Blame it on quarantine and a whole lot of free time.

I don’t know why I keep coming back to Kingdom of the Winds. Maybe because Song Gook played the lead (I think he’s so amazing in his Historical roles) Perhaps it’s purely the romance between Mu Hyul and Princess Yeon, who had such tender gaze and weak appearance. Oh gosh! I have such affection for these feeble female characters that our main leads always fall in love with. I mean, I also loved Lady Ye So Ya.

Anyways… Kingdom of the Winds is more deeply romance base compared to Jumong. Song Gook also express himself more... an issue I had whenever I watch Jumong. I hated that he didn’t talk enough.

I know I keep comparing but I can’t help it since the stories are connected! Hahahaha

I don’t know about anyone else, but I found the music in this series incredible! I am NEVER tired of listening to it. And I listen to it a lot! Emphasis on “A LOT”. If you ever get the chance—check it out on YouTube.

I gave the acting a full 10 because Song Gook NEVER NOT deliver in these roles.

~~*~~

>> Do Jin is like every other pitiful second lead who find themselves in love with Fl, but instead of confessing—they stay quiet until ML comes along and steal Fl. Smh! Then they throw tantrum and reek jealousy.

>> Ma Ro is that loyal bestfriend everybody such have in their life.

>> Physically and mentally strong. Steady eyes. Firm character. Fight like a monster. The young man who played Jumong's son in Jumong, grew on me. So much so, that I wished he could have played Yuri in this series because honestly, I do not find the man who played Yuri compatible for the role.

>> I enjoy Ma Hwang character. He does play a lot of support role but he never not shine them.

LOVE

I have nothing but absolute love for this Drama! It only gets better after each episode. I can re-watch over and over and never get bored. Every character had a role to play and was given their own light to shine…no matter how slight they are.

The females were not greedy, overly sensitive, bitter, or devious like most females you watch in these historical dramas.

I was happy Uh Ri-ni memories returned and the siblings were once again reunited. I especially loved and very much enjoy Gil Dong and his gang of brother's interaction. They never failed to make me laugh.

Gil Dong has come such a long way and have learned so much. He is everything a hero ought to be (strong, sensitive, always wanting to do right by others worthy of it. Standing up for lowly people and giving them reasons to fight and survive) Every time Gil Dong cry, I cry. Every time he bleeds—my heart breaks. He is just one of those character you connect so deeply with you cannot help feeling what he feels.

Episode 30 was bittersweet. I pitied the King who was never true to his people. I pitied even Soo Hak—though his family was wicked to Gil Dong family. I loved that last scene between Gil Dong and Gong-hwa. It was beautifully sad, gentle, and emotional. I could see as well as feel the affection they have for one another.

It was the happy ending I had hope for from the start!

Grand Prince

What can I say about this drama? It is what it is!

Had all the right pieces, but sadly, it wasn't put together the right way.

One of my biggest dissatisfaction: The girl who helped the Prince for 3 yrs. They fight side-by-side. Protected each other. Saved one another, and yet, when the Prince returned home he barely acknowledged her. Their interaction is so slight — it's almost none-existence. WHY? I am not looking for romance. I was just hoping they showed the level of respect and friendship that form between them throughout their awful experience together. The way she was overlooked and treated by him is so unnatural and unfair.

Prince Kang... I pity him for the entire show. The ending made me cry a bit. It was sad because I understand why Kang did what he did. He wasn't an exceptionally bad person.
