A breath of fresh air!

I watched WIFTY because of the high ratings...and I must say, I am not disappointed at all. The drama is really a breath of fresh air!

If we talk about the story, there is nothing much going on. A simple, sweet slice of life with lots of romance. But it's the characters who will keep you entertained throughout the story.

The ML, Zhang Lurang (Zhou Yiran) is a shy, introverted, reserved guy while the FL, Su Zaizai (Zhang Miaoyi) is bubbly, outgoing and confident. It's a typical cliché C drama plot where the FL chases the ML first.

While Zhang Lurang is reserved and shy, he isn't as rude as C-drama leads usually are. He just talks less, but wants to be included and loved. You will find yourself relating to his character most of the time, being compared with his sibling and the pressure of doing well. I think ZYR did a great job acting wise.

Su Zaizai is determined to chase him and make him fall for her. But what I really like is that it's not her whole personality. She excels in English, has dreams, isn't ready to put her future on stake in the name of love and hardworking. She takes stand for herself instead of depending on a male character. While her character is written like a typical FL, she breaks the norms and has her own excellence which will eventually force you to love her.

The sideleads' (Gu Ran and Jiang Jia) chemistry is so insane that you'll root for them to have their own drama. There are side stories relating to the characters which keeps the drama interesting. All the characters are career oriented and they also work hard to achieve their dreams.

The chemistry between the leads is majestic. Even with simple scenes you'll find butterflies flying in your stomach lol.

Overall, watch it and experience the beauty of youth. It's incredible and a must watch!

A rollercoaster!

I had hopes with this drama, mostly because I loved JZN in WIFTY and was rooting for her to be the main lead. Now that she is a main lead, I was hoping that the story should have potential. It started off great, the two leads bickering, their back story and of course the office setup. However, it all went downhill quickly. Things were happening so rapidly that I didn't even get time to accept them.

For example, the FL moved out of her shared apartment and went on to live with the ML, which is a BIG DEAL. However, in the drama it just happened in a span of seconds and boom, both of them are flat mates now. Atleast it's not normal for me to live with a man without having any second thought.
Then at a point they suddenly got married. Like? No second thoughts, no proposal, no confessions. They just got married. I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that why they had to rush the series so much when there was not even a proper explanation of the things that were happening.

The chemistry between the leads was great, but it was not something I would die to see. The second leads were okayish. Usually I beg the directors to give more screentime to second leads, but here it did not happen.

And there were also some unnecessary characters, for example the painter and SML's cousin. Why were they even there? It looked like they were just brought in the story to create a misunderstanding between the two leads. Both the characters didn't even last for an episode, the painter even fell in love with FL but the makers were in so hurry to rush him out that he had to leave the city in just one episode.

The ML did a great job, his eyes are the most captivating thing. As for the FL, I must say she didn't meet my expectations. She was great in WIFTY, but here it felt like she's not being herself. The second leads' acting were okayish.

Overall, the story had potential but they wasted it. No proper character development, unnecessary characters, unnecessary twists and a rushed story. I just wish that both of them receive better script next time. Rooting for them both!

Loving someone is hard!

So when I started watching the movie, I didn't know anything about the plot. I just decided to watch it because of the hype it got at that time. And to be honest, I thought it would be some mediocre film which only did well because the main leads are pretty (lol).

But, it proved me wrong. The story is so beautiful. As the story progresses, you could feel the the growing love of Woon-ho for Bo-ra. The actor who played Woonho did an amazing job in showcasing the emotions.

Of course it was not easy for the main leads to be together, but even their shortest scenes together were mesmerizing to watch. The actors had great chemistry and the love between them sparked in every freakin scene.

Poong Woon-ho is the sweetest bub you can ever see in a korean movie. He is so lovable. Also, Bora did an amazing job as well. She really potrayed the emotions with her eyes.

The ending scene is where you need tissues. Many people said that they were dissatisfied with it but c'mon, not every story is meant to be completed. Some stories remain beautiful despite of being incomplete. Bora and Woon-ho story is just like that.

I really liked that they used different actors to potray the diffetent stages of life instead of puting tons of makeup on the same actor. All the actors did an amazing job!

One thing that makes the film more beautiful is the cinematography. The scenes are a bit blurry type which will make you feel nostalgic and you could really feel that the story is set in 1999. The background music is soothing as well and sometimes gives you chill.

So, overall, if you want to see what true love is, this movie is definitely for you. Re-watching it will also make you happy because thats how good the story is!

Not Good Not Bad!

When I started this drama, I had very high hopes. And to be very honest the first few episodes did match my expectations. It was all light hearted until the FL reveals she had a terminal illness and the SML comes into the scene.
I'm not saying this drama is boring, however it is over complicated. The FL has so much on her plate, the ML has his own problems and then there are family problems. It's sometimes, too much.
I'll first start with the ML. He has feelings for the FL since he was a teen. Now that sounds so wholesome. However it seems like he has forgotten his feelings and now that the FL is back his feelings are back as well. This isn't impossible but somehow doesn't sit right with me. Felt like he only loved her till she's in front of his eyes. But his feelings were genuine and sincere.
Now comes the FL. I have major problems with her character. She takes the ML as her friend only. But out of a sudden she has feelings for him which felt too forced. In the initial episodes it is implied that the SML cheated on her, however, he doesn't. Instead he took care of her and was the only person to be with her during her tough times. However, she leaves him just because of a little outburst due to frustration. I mean it is understandable that she was hurt but doesn't mean she would end things like that when he was the only one she relied on during her illness. The SML felt more of a victim than her.
But even after all of this, she doesn't seem to move on from the SML. She cries for him, she misses her moments with him as well as she even relies on him when in pain. She cries when he leaves but boom the next day she has feelings for the ML. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?? She even accepts that herself that it was too fast.
One more thing I felt was that she didn't love the ML as much as he loved her. The ML continuously tries to make their relationship official and tell their parents but she stops him everytime until their parents catch them.

It was all over supposed to be a light hearted drama but it had too many flaws according to me. The leads were great as friends but fell apart as lovers. The SFL and her partner's relationship was much more interesting. However I must appreciate Jung Haein and Jung Somin for their great acting. The script and the direction needed to be much better.

YOUR CRUSH CAN LOVE YOU BACK TOO!

I started watching ALSB out of Boredom but I think it's the best decision I took. I love everything about this drama.

This isn't only a romcom, but also focuses on friendship, career choices and much more. If you're looking for a good laugh, watch it now!

As for the ML, Jiang Chen, played by Hu Yitian, is portrayed as cold, rude, inexpressive, shy and introverted. But he has a soft corner for the FL. I understand why many people hate this character, but as an introvert myself, I could understand his actions. He actually liked her, but was too afraid to express his feelings and hence ends up bullying her because that's easy. However at the end he becomes expressive and tells the FL how he felt all these years.

The FL, Chen Xiaoxi, played by Shen Yue is a bubbly, dumb, clumsy and cheerful girl. However her whole personality revolves around Jiang Chen. She wakes up thinking about him and goes to sleep thinking about him, which at some point you might find annoying. However, I really enjoyed her dumb actions to impress Jiang Chen but always ended up being in trouble.

What's really beautiful is that when they were teens, Xiaoxi used to run after Jiang Chen. And when they grow up Jiang Chen ran after Xiaoxi. It really portrays the love they have for each other and it only got stronger with time.

The side characters hold a special place in the story. The story is incomplete without Lin Jinxiao, Lu Yang and Wu Bosong. They have their own story which makes the drama so much more interesting. The drama might appear funny at the beginning, but at some point you might need tissues, I'm telling you!

Overall, I can proudly say I'll watch this drama again. And again. And again. Because it's that much amazing. Don't wait, just watch it if you wanna feel nostalgic!

Fresh & Cute!

So if you are looking for a light hearted, bubbly, funny and immense chemistry drama then this is for you! It's like a comfort drama.

There is not much going on, a slice of life with romcom which you can watch easily. The plot doesn't have much, however, it is enough to get you hooked.

My favourite thing from this drama is the character of Gu Wei Yi. He's smart, intelligent, caring, loyal and most importantly, selfless. His love for Si Tu Mo is so strong and remains consistent throughout the drama. This man is head over heels for the FL and is ready to fight with anyone who comes in his way of pursuing her. His character is so beautifully written. Lin Yi did a great job portraying him and I don't think anyone could do justice to the character as much as him.

For Si Tu Mo, she's not like the naive FLs. She is smart, outgoing, knows what do in life and her personality doesn't revolves around the ML. She falls in love later but when she does, it's beautiful. Xing Fei was great as Si Tu Mo!

The story doesn't have anything extraordinary. It's just how they start living together, then Gu Wei Yi pursuing Si Tu Mo, and how they got together. But when they get together, it becomes so fluffy that you will find yourself kicking your feet in the air lol.

Another most laughable thing is the BG voices. Dog sounds are used for Gu Wei Yi and cat sounds for Si Tu Mo. It just makes the drama so much more funny!

Overall, if you want to watch something that can make you laugh and has some good romantic scenes, This is for you!

Annoying at some point!

I decided to watch the movie after seeing so much positive reviews. I had so much expectations and also sat with a box of tissues because I thought I would need it. But heck, it was nowhere to my expectations.

First things first, the storyline is amazing and something new, but the execution is not well done. It could have been way better if there were'nt unnecessary scenes. The FL's character is so annoying. Throughout the whole movie all they do is to breakup and then hookup.

So the thing is, I could never feel that the FL had same feelings as the ML. Even at some point, I thought she used him because she felt lonely. Once when she had a boyfriend, she didnt give a f about him. But when she realised that the boyfriend is evil, she got back to him. This was PBY's worst acting in my opinion. Her dialogues felt forced and failed to impress me.

The ML did a good job and his character was consistent througout the movie. From the very beginning, he was sure that he loved only and only one girl. No one could change his mind, not even the circumstances. The actor also did a good job in potraying the character.

The breakup was so unnecessary. It was just a matter of stressed talking and misunderstandings, which could be SORTED OUT easily. The FL was too quick to judge, especially when the ML had went through so much just to be with her.

Overall, the plot they chose was really good, but the direction was too bad. Scenes were too fast paced and there were unnecessary forced humor scenes. It could have been a great movie if they path they were going was okay.
