Hello,
I got into Asian dramas because I was stuck in the house during COVID-19, and my sister being the K-drama stan that she is, introduced me to the K-drama "Save Me," "True Beauty," and "Mr. Queen." My favorite K-Drama is Mr. Queen (the only drama that has received a perfect rating of 10 from me, in all categories). Although I've enjoyed my share of historical/period and romcom K-dramas, I really enjoy watching Chinese historical/period dramas (the ones without mystic/sci-fi). However, I am not a fan of Chinese romcoms, as I like realism, and they tend to overdo it with the slow motion side effects, and the clueless female lead characters.
Note: I believe in racial equality, and I do not enjoy any drama that promotes racism. I also do not like dramas which promote high and unnecessary levels of toxicity (meaning dramas that has too much abuse written in the script, and it's not necessary for the drama to be good and meaningful). Most dramas have to have some level of toxicity in it, in order for it to appeal to most viewers. I believe as humans, we learn how to be less toxic as we age.
