It's sooooo bad

Seriously, why does this have such a good rating, wtf? This is soooo bad, all characters are assholes (besides their friends) and the plot is so uncreative and badly done, why does everyone loves this series? Honestly this plot is so overused, this is literally like the main couple in MIR, only that in MIR they are teenagers and not grown men who act likes children like here. I watched it at 2x speed in the end because I hoped that it will get better, but it doesn't. Don't watch it if you don't want to waste your time. The only good thing about this are the actors, that's it. I'm giving this 1 star because I want to lower the ratings.

I want to like it more, because I know it's good

I want to like it more, because it's finally a BL which is different, where the BL aspect isn't in the center. But my attention span wasn't long enough,(don't binge-watch it like me) to enjoy it properly. It's art, the scenes are beautiful, but it's like watching art for hours, it isn't too exciting you know? And I felt like the pacing is too slow, even though stuff happened all the time. It just didn't made me want to necessarily continue watching, like not in the staying-up-all-night-to-finish-it way. And the ending could be better done, it needs a season 2 but I think that they are trying to keep it open. But the quality and the acting were sooo good, so give it a shot!

I enjoyed it more then I thought

Honestly, I thought that this isn't exactly my type of series, but because everybody calls it a masterpiece, I decided to watch it, having very low expectations. But it was definitely not as boring as I thought that it would be. If you like I feel you linger in the air, you probably will like this, the vibe is pretty similar, but this is not as slow-paced imho.
The first few episodes weren't that exciting, but after the whole "tea-mafia" (which I didn't expect at all lol) thing started, I was hooked. If I'm honest, I expect there to be a "super-natural element" because he has her heart, so I was a little but disappointed, but that's my fault for assuming that lol.

What I liked:
The setting in the village was very interesting and that's one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much.
All characters felt real, they weren't perfect or comically evil, expect Sakda (and to some extent Torfun but obviously they won't talk bad about the dead teacher they all loved).
The way they dealt with Sakda was realistic, in the end the police arrested them, Tian and Phupha
aren't super heroes after all, but real people.
That Tian actually says that he is gay (or at least Tul said that) and no of the "I'm don't like men, I only like him". And I liked Tul.
The slow burn. The slow burn was the slowest slow burn I've ever seen from a Thai BL and I love slow burn in romance.
The music and cinematography were perfect to set the atmosphere in this beautiful village.

What I didn't like:
Phupha. At first I was annoyed by how arrogant Phupha was and how he treated Tian. After that he became nicer, but I was indifferent to him. Usually I absolutely love the stoic and cold kind of character (Tin from LBC, An Zian from Like Love, Korn form UWMA, even Ram from my engineer etc.) but I didn't like Phupha for some reason, maybe he was a little but to "bland" (but realistic), which I only noticed because he is in most of the scenes.
I didn't ship Tian and Phupha at all, I'm sorry. I shipped the Doctor and Tian, Longtae and Tian, Phupha and Torfun even, the Doctor and Phupha, Rang and Tian. I'm honestly not sure why, but I didn't really feel sparks between Tian and Phupha, only an emotional connection after both of them have falling for the other.

The way Tian "killed" Torfun. That seemed like it was only there to make the villagers hate him. Also, the way of him saying he killed her and then it was actually his friend felt really predicable, like ofc he didn't kill her himself, because I knew that the villagers and audience wouldn't have forgiven him then. But the show should have addressed how bad street racing is, (and definitely illegal in Thailand).

Why was Tian blamed for not telling the villagers that Torfun was dead. Why did the Ranger never say anything??? If anyone, they should have told everyone immediately, but instead Tian was blamed. (But he was rightfully blamed for being one of the reasons for Torfun's death). Honestly, I don't even blame him for not telling the villagers that he "killed" Torfun, I mean they would not have accepted them there and then he could not have fulfilled Torfun's wishes etc, which was his main goal. But that's probably an unpopular opinion.

The ending. I really expected a better ending than this, especially after how carefully this universe was build. It makes sense that they decided not to be together after Tian leaves, but then, Tian has to leave to the US and magically Phupha meets him at the airport and wants to be with him?? This was weirdly cliché for this kind of series. What about all the reasons they didn't get together in the first place? Yes, you could say he noticed that he can't be without Tian after being apart from him for some time, but I don't buy it, a guy like Phupha doesn't seem to change his decision easily. Also, how about their two year long-distance relationship(? idk if they were together or if he just "waited for him").

And did we all forget that they spied on the couple on the “dog howling night”, that was creepy and very weird and not even funny.

All in all, do I regret watching this? No, but it was beautiful and fun at times. In my opinion it is not the masterpiece everyone calls it though. Not my favorite, but definitely not a bad show.

It's a product of its time

I watched Lovesick for the sole reason that it is the first real Thai bl (well maybe hormones counts to.)

It's not fair to compare it to bls nowadays, obviously it the budget was not big enough, as bl was not as popular. But it still was enjoyable, especially the first season. This season on the other hand... was wayyy too long and still did not manage to give some side couples a real ending.

1. The vacation storyline could be done in three episodes and it would have been better. It was honestly quite frustrating to watch Noh hide that Phun girlfriend cheats on him. And whyyyy did Yuri not break up with him. I mean, I can understand her, but I felt like it was bad writing. But I really liked Noh and Phun together, they were really cute. (Even though I wished Noh would admit being gay or bi and not "only liking Phun" but I didn't expect this from a Bl from 2014 anyways). I also liked how Noh and Phun learned to stop avoiding confrontation,

2. The girls academy side story. This isn't completely a bl, but it also is a highschool drama. Since I enjoyed Hormones I also enjoyed the side story, even though they really stretched it. I kinda liked Jeed story, expect the fact she almost literally killed her ex lol. But i wished they would have given Jeed and Yuri a real conversation, because in the end, Jeed actually thought Yuri hated her because Aim more or less told her that. However, I liked Jeed personality change in the end.

3. The side couples. Ohm's storyline was well done, I really enjoyed it and rooted him and Mick. But Pete and Earn... It had so much potential. It was quite confusing, was Earn bothered by Pete liking Yuri because he liked Pete or because he liked Noh? I think it was the perfect situation to develop their story. But we didn't get that, but instead we saw Pete confessing (?) to Earn in the last 5 seconds of the show. Honestly, I would have been ok with him getting together with Yuri(she deserves a happy end) instead of a half-baked ending like that. In my head canon Earnpete are together, but I would have loved at least like idk ten seconds more. It would have been so easy to give them a satisfying ending. Literally, Pete calling Earn and confessing and Earn telling him to call him back so he could listen to Earn's romantic ringtone (like he did with Noh)would be a nice ending. Or literally just a short footage of them holding hands in the last seconds would have been enough. Not to mention Per and Win. What was that ending? While I didn't ship Win with anyone, I would still like to see who he would choose. (In my headcanon he chooses Per, even though Per doesn't like him back)

In conclusion, it had great potential, just like 16 episodes less and a better ending would have made this like an 7-8/10. But would I have loved this if it was 2014 and this would be my first bl? Hell yeah. Do I recommend watching it? The first season, yes sure, this season not so much, maybe like on 2x speed like I did lol. But in 2023 there are too many bls better than this, but this is iconic so watch it if you have time for 36 episodes.

This is addictive

Was is problematic? Yes. Was the communication a complete mess? Yes. Was it a roller-coaster of emotions? YES. But I loved every second of it. This was sooo entertaining. It reminds me of every good Japanese yaoi (but less toxic, I think) from the early 2000s but there is something special about it. Maybe it´s the combo of the stalker nerd and the tsundere, who ends up having to pursue the former, even though it's hard for him. The popular kid x the awkward outcast but with an twist. The characters are both more complicated than I first thought and are very interesting.

Also, their chemistry is amazing and the actors poured their whole heart into it.
The way Hira acts will definitely make you feel so frustrated though, but the show is self-aware in that regard, we are suffering together with Kiyoi lol.

They are both not exactly healthy but it's funny how perfect they are for each other. Even though it bugged me that Kiyoi was so aggressive and the time skip.
OH THE TIME SKIP. I hate time-skips. Still, at least the time skip here was reasonable and it made sense to have one. (I still have trauma from that one Taiwanese BL, I won't spoiler but if you know you know)

All in all, it´s the best short BL series I´ve watched so far, will definitely re-watch (again...) it some time. And it´s actually way deeper than it first seemed, because it´s about how people are idolizing their crushes, while their crushes are just normal people too and want to be seen as the person they really are.

Btw. if you wondering why it isn't a 10/10, it's because of the weird fake kisses, the fact that the student looked like they finished high school 15 years ago, and the unstable camera, especially at THAT scene in the end at the school.

Not a BL, more like a Mystery

This was a wild ride, every episode raised more questions, without answering any, until the last episode. I had so many theories, which all turned out to be false.
Some may disagree, but I found that the ending very much made sense and they honestly weren't any big questions left unanswered.
The characters felt like real people, not good people but people (expect for Title, he is just plain evil), and the acting was amazing (I watched this series because of Bible and he didn't disappoint).

What I didn't like? When I watched it, I tried to remember all the little details and hints (like the backstory of a side character) that could be important in the end, only for them to never be mentioned again or explained. That made some scenes feel "random", otherwise it would have been a masterpiece.

But so you know, I wouldn't really call this a BL, because it's not a romance. The mystery and Sci-Fi aspects are the main focus. It was kind of similar to "Manner of death" (or to some Mafia BL) in terms of the "vibe". Don't expect the typical fluffy Bl story, this is not it. The relationships weren't very well developed either, but maybe that's realistic.

I used to think that "Like Love" was explicit but in comparison to the sultry version of 4minutes, "Like Love" is the most family friendly Bl ever. Honestly, it was a little bit to explicit for my taste, it's like I am invading the characters privacy lol. If you always wanted more explicit (and more realistic (damn)) NC scenes, this is the show for you.

Should you watch it? Yes, if you want a series which plot seems to be a mystery until the last episode, or just a Mystery/ Sci-Fi series with gay characters, you should.

A fun watch

This series is a light-hearted comedy and it doesn't take itself seriously and you shouldn't either.

In the first few episodes I found Thi very annoying and wanted to drop it, but after he and Noey got closer, he wasn't as annoying anymore.

What I liked the most:
The 80's (or 50's?) aesthetic was one of the reason's why I enjoyed it so much, the gang's style, music and Noey's room.

I loved Noey's character, he was perfectly casted and the character is adorable and charming in his own way.

The comedy. While watching this, I ended up snickering multiple times (even though it wasn't a 100% my humor).

What bothered me the most:

The age gap. At first I assumed that Thi is a freshman at university and that he and Noey are only two years apart, but apparently there is a bigger gap as I noticed later, that made me uncomfortable. But, to be honest, Noey acts more like an adult than Thi, so it's not that noticeable.
And what I just found out, that the actors also have a wide age gap(almost 10 years), and that kind of makes their ship even weirder.

Their chemistry. Thi and Noey have good chemistry... as friends. But considered their age gap, that's probably better.

Conclusion:
I give it a 7/10, which means it isn't bad, but it wasn't the best. The story was enjoyable, simple but funny, but the age gap ruined it a little bit.

Why is it so boring and toxic at the same time.

Watching the first episode I was hyped, I was searching for a BL were both partners are horrible and therefore perfect for each other. I wanted to watch something absolutely ridiculously toxic while shutting of my sense of morality. But after the accident, it was just Day treating Itt like shit and we got some weird drama on top of that. It got boring really fast. It was toxic and dramatic, but not in a fun way.
Also, why do we never get to know what happened between Day, Itt, Night and his boyfriend? Why is Itt so obsessed with cake? WHAT IS THE BACKSTORY???? One of the reasons why I watched this, because of the "second couple", where one is kidnapped by the other. But there were only like 5 scenes about them and I want to know more, it seems very interesting. I honestly don't know why I even watched this....

Low-budget BLs have a special place in my heart

First of all, this was very differently from the original, especially "Tutor" and "Fighter. It felt more like little easter eggs when you find a reference to the original. But honestly, I loved this version and it was better than expected. Yes, you could really feel the low budget(the
cicadas really stole the show), but that made it feels more "genuine" in my opinion. The acting was also surprisingly good, the actors of Jung Lee Won and Kim Ji Oh poured their whole heart into it. And the kisses, let's not forget them. As this is a Korean Bl I expected one "dead fish kiss". But I was wrong. We got so many good kisses?! (let's not compare that to the Thai version obviously)
I also liked, that It was really funny, just like the original (Saifah and Zon part). And I iust have to mention what was a lovable and adorable dork this version "Zon"(Jung Lee Won) is. The gay panic in his eyes everytime he sees Kim Ji Oh was also quite funny.
The question of "what is real, what is the novel" was solved pretty well, better than the original imho. However, the ending felt a little bit rushed. In addition to that found the story of the side couple a little bit confusing, I still don't really understand why Ko Yoo Kyeom acted like he did (he really played with Woo Sun Woo's heart for no reason?). But regardless, I did really enjoyed watching it and I will certainly rewatch some parts of it.

I love me some old low budget gay movie

It's exactly how I imagined it (expect I didn't expect THAT dramatic plot-twist), it just feels like a low budget early 2000s LBGT movie and I love it. It's not a BL or even a GL, so don't expect that. It's more of a "slice of life of gay people" (although a dramatic one).

Even though I enjoyed it, there were some plot holes and things that are never really explained (everything happened so quickly) and the ending was a little weird but wholesome at the same time. Still, It was hilarious, but it showed the sad reality of being gay in Korea too. Yes, most of the gay men were stereotypical, but I didn't mind as much, because there weren't shown in a bad light and we didn't laugh at them but at their jokes. Or at the hilarious situations. Anyways, I was hoping that that we would see more of the lesbian couple.

It had potential

In the first 9 episodes this series was addicting. After that, it became a little bit boring and I really lost any interest in Mews and Tops story.I think the last three episodes could been shorten into two or even one. Or they could written a better storyline with Boeing.

First of all, I didn't forgive Top and I don't feel like he actually redeemed himself enough, but maybe it is realistic that Mew forgave him anyways. But I still felt really annoyed watching their cute scenes after they became a couple again.

Secondly, the Boeing storyline was really weird. It would have been interesting if he actually had wanted to date Mew, but instead he was a one-dimensional bag guy. Also, It was really unnecessary that he tried to get together with Sand. And why did Sand just accept it? I feel like this should have been resolved better, as it seemed like Sand wasn't sure if he should pick Ray over Boieng.

Anyways, I still like Sand and Ray together, even though it was unrealistic that Ray suddenly became a better person and suddenly forgot his trauma. To be fair though it makes sense, as Ray is very impulsive and changes his mind easily, I still feel like him improving this quickly should have backfired.
Another "couple" was Boston and Nick. In my opinion, they were the best written couple, even though they broke up, which was the perfect end for them. Boston couldn't have changed that quickly and he didn't. Also, I liked watching Nick's character development!

Would I recommend watching it? Actually, I would, if you like messy drama. It may not be the best written story, but it sure was entertaining.

Surprisingly disappointing

First, let's start with the good things: I really like how Sun and Ainam were written, they were my favorites. Nanon and Chimon were good actors. And I liked the music.

If you here for the BL, don't bother. While InSuns story was realistic, it just wasn't good. There was something missing. At first it seemed like we would get a enemies-to-lovers, but this gets resolved in 10 min and then they are just friends. Don't get me wrong, I love a good friends-to-lovers, but this isn't it. And wtf was In thinking- I get that he was confused, but come on that was just an asshole move. Eventually it just got boring and the ending was unsatisfying (In didn't even explained ANYTHING). The love triangle was ok, at times I couldn't tell who In really likes and considering who he really liked his actions didn't make sense at times. I didn't ship InSun in the end.

I was here for Nanon and unlike most watchers I didn't hate Oh, he was cute at times but I just couldn't feel bad for him. He didn't annoyed me but I didn't cared about him. And about the bulling: It was realistic because nobody took it seriously or did something to stop it. However, it was handled as a joke so that bothered me a bit.

About Peach: Oh deserves better. Peach is like "My boyfriend is bullying a friend of mine, that's annoying :(((" like it's about her. I don't understand why she didn't leave Copper instantly. (Copper is just your average bully, his whole personality is "I like violence and I have an massive ego") Besides being pretty and annoying Peach doesn't have a personality, especially when compared with Ainam. Is it so hard to write a good female lead...

In conclusion I think that it had potential but it just got worse and worse. If Peach was better written this could be so much better. And what disappointed me the most is that they didn't went through with the enemies-to-lovers with InSun it had so much potential.

It's just nostalgic at this point

I really like AePete and TinCan. Maybe you think that TinCan has too many cliches, but Tin was made as a parody of the typical male protagonist of a K-Drama so I don't really care. And I just love a pairing like TinCan, the dynamic of stupidsunshinexcoldandserious lol. But I think it should be just about this two pairing and not also about all the other pairing, especially because most of them are toxic. Just look at TechnoxKengklas, I read the book and it was painful, poor Techno. It started as a joke but it escalated, from "lol he is stalking him" to "he rapes him". But the Author of LBC (she wrote Tharntype) loves rape and toxic characters and giving this toxic characters a happy end, but I wish the toxic characters would not steal the other couples screen time. All in all, it's very cliche and the story isn't innovate but it's still very enjoyable.

Compared with the original, it's not as good

On it's own, it's a 10/10. But compared with the original it's too different. Jaeyoung and Sangwoo are a lot more realistic and less extreme. While I liked that Jaeyoung isn't as jealous (which was the only thing I don't like in the original), Sangwoo was too emotional (especially the last episode, that all was an very not-Sangwoo thing to do), instead of "cold and logical" he is more "cute". I really missed the original Sangwoo and I find that the chemistry between the characters is very different. I mean the chemistry is amazing here, but it was more exciting in the original(because the original characters aren't so soft and "cute"). In the original the genre of enemies-to-lovers was more apparent and Jaeyoung pranked him wayyy longer. And I really wish that they would have had some inner monologues because their thought are the most interesting part! Especially Sangwoos. And obviously this the "family friendly" version, so the vibe is different, but that's fine if this will attract more new viewers to the BL genre this way. But anyway, I would recommend watching this first and then the original, so you would be able to enjoy this more as I did. And watching this or reading the novel/manhwa is an absolute must!

Winteam for the win

This serious is a mix of really serious, but slow and beautiful BLs and of the typical comedy university BLs. The story of Dean and Pharm is more serious and "sad" (regarding their "past lifes") and everything regarding the life at university in the present and the other side couple are more like the typical Thai engineering BL.

First of all, I still don't understand why they didn't make the time line more evident, like show when this all happened between Intouch and Korn, at least use a filter too show that it was long time ago. It didn't bother me too much though, after I figured out who is "from the past" and who's not.
And I wish Dean and Pharm would have more dialog and less awkward scenes (where they don't talk and there is just this awkward silence). And they're story was a little bit too long-paced for me and I'm not sure if I really feel their chemistry. But I'm probably just not a fan the character type of Dean (like not being too expressive).
And they get outshined by the side couple, Win and Tim. They just can't compete with the chemistry Bounprem(winteam) have. It was a little bit sad that Win and Team had so little scenes (I watched their sequel "Between us" and honestly.... they are better at staying the side couple) . The pacing generally was a little bit too slow for me and they could have shorted it a bit and maybe put more Bounprem scenes in this series instead of making a whole series only for them.

And I have to mention that I absolutely loved InKorn, they have chemistry. Honestly I liked them more than their incarnations.
Honestly, I'm not really into the whole "incarnations" thing generally, but I enjoyed UWMA anyways. This was my first BL ever and when I first watched it, I gave it a 9,5/10, but right now, having rewatched some of the scenes, I'm don't think I would rate it that high again having watched many other BLs, so I give it 9 (probably it would have been 8,5 if it wasn't so nostalgic for me).
