Pikachu's Sweet but Complicated Story

I watched this drama two dramas ago, lol.. (I write this review after I watched two other dramas (Perfect & Casual and Intense Love).. Just a warning, I love Pikachu.. So, I squealed every time there was Pikachu on the screen..

The idea of the FL character is unique or weird (depend on your interpretation and taste, I guess). Because of the electricity thing, she was often compared to Pikachu. And somehow because of her small frame, it was kinda suitable and seemed cute (just like cute Pikachu). The ML character kinda reminded me of Nam Joo Hyuk in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, because both of them were swimmers in Sport University and both of them kinda had illness.. and both of them needed the FLs to help them curing the said illness.. Acting wise, the casts did a good enough job for their roles..

Plot wise, the drama itself didn't have complicated problems. However, some circumstances made it complicated, I guess. I was a little bit annoyed at the FL in the beginning.. because she was kinda inconsistent of how she felt about ML and SML. Since I'm not a fan of love-triangle, it annoyed me.. The story line was kinda intricated. So basically in my mind, here's what happened: A problem risen, and they solved it half-way, it died down. However, a few episodes later, it was risen again.. So yeah for me that's complicated.. The ending was kinda rush for me.. and there was not enough epilogue, I guess..

I forgot how many days it took for me to finish this drama.. But, for me it wasn't interested enough to be re-watched right away. If a drama was interesting for me, I usually re-watched some interesting episodes while searching for another drama.. and since this drama wasn't interesting enough for me, I ended up re-watching another old drama before I found new drama..

In conclusion, it was an okay drama for me (so I didn't drop it or put it on-hold), but it wasn't interesting enough to be re-watched.

Sweet and Light Drama

I watched this drama after asking recommendations for happy, carefree, no-love-triangle, no-over-5-episodes-misunderstanding drama.. So, basically, it's it..

The story is kinda cliche, I guess.. It's sweet and cute from the beginning.. Some of the scenes were cringe-worthy (just to prove how sweet it is).. The relationship development of the couples were logical in one side, but somehow too rush in the others.

Plot wise.. even though it was cliche, but the plot was interesting.. The casts did well to deliver the characters.. and I guess they were suitable for the roles. The ML's personality was actually interesting, but character development was too rush in some aspects, in my opinion. He was supposed to be smart, and he looked smart most of the time, but there was some scenes that made me think that he was kinda foolish. The FL's personality was good, but I think it was kinda inconsistent in some aspects. I didn't feel anything with both leads' character.. On the other hand, I was really annoyed with the villain in this drama, so I guess she was successful to make me feel something..

It is fun drama to watch.. But somehow, it failed to hold my attention for a long time.. It didn't make me "binge-watch".. What I meant was that I didn't mind to pause and do something else while watching this drama.. When I usually "binge-watch", it was always hard for me to pause and do anything else until I finish watching the episodes. This drama failed to make me "binge-watch" it. It wasn't boring per say.. But, I guess it was too light or kinda slow for me.. Well, I did ask for a light drama.. But, somehow it lacked something to keep my attention and it didn't make me too giddy.. Although, I did finish watching it in 1 day.. So, it's not bad..

After finishing the drama, I wasn't that interested to re-watch it.. Maybe after some time, I don't mind to watch it again.. so, now that I'm done with the last episode, I'm ready to move on and find another drama.. If a drama can hold my interest for a long time, I usually re-watched them again (for the interesting episodes) right after I finished watching the last episode.. and this drama somehow failed to make me do that..

Overall, this drama is not bad. And it's fun to watch it when you're in the mood for something light and stress-free. However, for me it lacks something that makes me feel anything..

Medical Drama That's Not Really Medical

When you read the title and the characters, you would get the impression that it would be a medical drama. But to me, this drama doesn't feel like a medical drama at all.
Yes, 90% of the scenes were in hospital. Yes, there were doctors and patients. Yes, they used many medical terms. Yes, there were diseases, illness, deaths. However, the main focus was not medical matter. Maybe because it was slice of life type of drama.
What I like about the drama? All of them.
Acting wise. The actors and actresses did really well to deliver their characters perfectly. They are perfect match for their own characters. The chemistry and relationship between characters are so great. The dialogues and banters between them were so great and felt natural.
Plot wise. The main focus was for the main roles' life stories, of course. But, the other stories were so great too.. Each of the patients' cases was so on point and unique. They complimented the main roles' characters and main stories.. Even though some of them were not really interesting (I skipped some of them when I re-watched it), but the other ones were so great and touching.
Soundtrack wise. You can say that this is kind of a musical drama somehow. Of course, the title already said it all. They have the best soundtracks. I'm so impressed with the casts because they worked really hard to play the musical instruments and sing the songs. They learned them diligently, and some of them learned them from zero. Even though the songs are old songs, I like almost all of them. It wouldn't be surprising when they win the best soundtrack of the year.
Plot twist. This drama broke clichés in drama history. First, while other dramas are about struggling to gain power, this drama was about giving away power. Second, there were many unexpected plot twists about the characters. When you thought that "ah, it would be the case" and the next thing you knew it was actually the opposite of it. Some of them are funny and some of them are heartfelt. Really unexpected but somehow satisfying.
Love lines. Every main roles deserves their own story lines. Hopefully, every one of them will have a happy ending and happy relationship in Season 2.
In conclusion, this drama is not a medical drama. (To me, the best medical drama is still Dr. Romantic, and yes, both of them have Yoo Yeon Seok as the lead, lol). But, this is one of the best drama ever for me. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me feel. Even though there were so many substories, it didn't feel boring to me.
This drama deserves every award they got, the hypes, the high ratings, the compliments and of course, Season 2. Personnally, I can't wait for Season 2. Hopefully, it will be as great as the first season.

Historical Drama with Modern Plot

This is one of my favorite dramas of all time.
The drama setting is in Joseon Era, but I felt modern vibe in its plot. The problems with the crown princess felt like in a modern drama.
The casts are so perfect for their characters. As Do Kyungsoo's fan, of course I love his acting. But even though you're not a fan, you wouldn't be able to complain that his acting is bad. This kind of character is so suitable for him so much. His catchphrase of "OHO" and "Am I the only one who feels uncomfortable?" are so legendary and funny. I love his character, a talented crown prince who was smart and skillfull in martial arts, but somehow can be sweet, cute, funny and silly.
Nam Ji Hyun also did a good job. Her acting compliment her characters in the drama. The chemistry between FL and ML was great.
I usually don't like love-triangle. But, SML in this story was not annoying and I didn't hate his character. His loyalty to the crown prince outshining his love to FL. Surprisingly, the relationship between ML and SML looked better than the relationship between FL and SML.
I don't like the political conflict. And somehow I think it was cliché to historical drama. A prime minister/minister who wanted more power and used his daughter to gain more favor from the king. I don't like how the political conflict climacs was solved. I think it was rushed somehow. The reason that I didn't give 10 for re-watch value, because I didn't like the political conflict. So, everytime I re-watched this drama, I always skipped the scenes.
What surprised me the most is the crown princess' story (SFL). In this case, SFL didn't have any chance with ML. So, somehow I was hoping for a happy ending for her, even though in the beginning she was hateful.
I think this drama needs more episode. One more episode for the epilogue and the happy ending for ML and FL. I don't think that all of their problems was solved because they didn't show the story how ML brought FL to the palace and married her. In other dramas, it would be another problem because usually there would be people who opposed their relationship. I was hoping for more story about their happy ending and married life
The soundtrack was so good and really lovable. I love it.
