I started watching this series because of a review I read on another blog. I don't know how true this is but audiences in China were unhappy that Tiffany Tang's character chose the 2nd male lead instead of Rain. However, after watching 12 episodes, I will have to say that her character made the 'right' choice. The potential story and plot is good but Rain - seems out of place in the drama - he is more like a Korean pretty boy that looks good and is always put on 'display' like a model but his acting potential is never realized. It is the 2nd male lead and Tiffany Tang's character's acting chemistry that is really good to watch. The show should not have dragged on to 68 episodes but should just stay withing the 16 episodes or 24. It started becoming boring after episode 7 when everything becomes very cliche.

A Republican C-Drama to start off 2022

I have always been a fan of Jing Tian's acting but unfortunately, most of her earlier dramas did not impress me. Nor have I been too impressed with many republican dramas I have watched over the years as they are too repetitive in terms of plot or they story fizzles out because of bad acting. This one is different. All acting is excellent if not good. The Male Lead's father in particular is amazing with his quiet and menacing ways and the women who are his wives - great acting without being too over dramatic. Last but not least, the main leads - the slowly mounting tension - coupled with the suspense has been great to watch. I usually don't like to review until the drama has ended but so far, all 12 episodes are good to watch and to re-watch. I will recommend this one.

It falls short of Season 1. The chemistry between the actors in Season 1 was amazing. The actor replacing Lin Tao is awful - there is no real acting but a lot of shallow pretending. And the actor replacing the originial Dr. Qin - was awfully awkward, stiff and cannot live up to the original spot on acting - which was a medical genius that is plagued by OCD behaviour and is aware of it; likes detailed perfection (shown in his suit tailing skills and fashion sense); is eccentric in behaviour and will always have a quirky sense of humour and will always act humanely. The acting of the new assistant Medical Examiner in Season 2 was horrible, shrill and silly - she ends up rushing to the interrogation room to scream and shout at a suspect? My conclusion? Plot-wise good but acting is awful and pales in comparison to the actors in Season 1. I think watching the latest "Talking Bones" is much better! Entertainment-wise ok but not gripping for me.
