A Masterpiece

I was confused as to why this drama only has 8 episodes but after finishing it, I realized why. Every single episodes, every single parts truly touched the audience’s hearts with its truly remarkable moments. All the characters were executed well. You truly see the growth of every individual characters as they also learned to accept what life has to offer them. Uncle Jim finally accepting help from others and opening up at the end was such a refreshing scene. Him moving away from the old diner place and selling his car really shows he’s moved on with Wen. I love the growth of his relationship with Ming. From being flawed in the beginning to accepting each other at the end. Wen and his fighter nature really inspired me. The amount of persistence he has despite being continuously rejected at first was just amazing. I love how he rejected the promotion at the end. It may seem absurd to some but since the beginning, he never was about money. He actually have always wanted a home which he finally found with Uncle Jim. What happened between Wen and Alan was heartbreaking but it does happen in real life . You wake up one day and realize this is not the love you’re looking for. It was very realistic the way their characters were portrayed. From trying to be friends, to not working out, to angst then finally to moving on. I’m glad both of them were able to find another means of happiness and seem to end the series by still being friends. Then we have Heart and Li Ming. I have so much praises for them. The innocence yet heaviness of their story must have been hard to portray but both Gemini and Fourth played their parts very well. Then we have Gaipa. This sweet man tore my heart in pieces when he was singing for his mom. Khaotung’a acting definitely deserve a recognition! All the actors do! The series was made to be realistic that even after finishing it, I can still feel their emotions. Congratulations to e everyone who was part of this masterpiece. Hope everyone will get the chance to watch this! ❤️

I Want More!

I love love love the character of Lee Young Ae in this drama. It's rarely we see "crazy" female lead in dramas, but she definitely nailed it! Before engaging myself in this drama, I've been warned by my friends that this one seem to be different from the Kdrama norm. I didn't really understand what they meant until I watched the drama myself. The visual presentation of a lot of scenes (random pop up of characters on the side of the screen) actually reminded me of a lot of Japanese dramas I've watched in the past. I did appreciate those visuals because well they were very entertaining. Kim Hye Hoon also did so well in her role! She really made me scared of her to the point that when I see her, I actually feel like she can just kill right there and then. If I were to comment on what' s missing in this series, it'll probably be the lack of explanation about Santa's character (Perhaps they're gearing for season 2?). His character is such a mystery that in every episode, I'd find myself wishing they'll tell us more about him. Made me think if he's a traitor too hmm, but I guess we won't really find out unless we get another season. The cases resolved in this drama really gave me a sense of satisfaction. Every cases seem to give us that you think you knew but not really kind of feeling. All actors have done well in their roles, and honestly would love to see them all again!

It was cute at first but...

I quite enjoyed the fluffy, sweet moments of the leads and even the second leads of this drama at first, but then it got repetitive for me at the end. The leads always seem to misunderstand each others' intention, but the moment of realization of the truth became quite cute. I was a bit confused at first thinking Lin Jia Yi is the antagonist of this drama, but there were moments where I find her friendship with Nuan Nuan and Xue cute. Han Chen suddenly having a love line with Jia Yi (I know it's because of a show) made it so awkward to watch. We all know where their hearts go so forcing the two to have chemistry felt so weird as an audience. I personally enjoyed Han Xue and Gu Li's love story though. I think among all the plot lines, theirs is the one I really had fun watching as they develop from being big sister/little brother to lovers. The OST for this drama is really good that I kept listening/watching the opening and credits just to enjoy the song. Would I recommend this drama? I mean if you're really bored and don't mind seeing confusing plots, sure yeah. This drama has a lot of cute scenes, made me laugh at times too, but the ending plot er was a bit turn off for me. Made me question why they suddenly added it at the end when it wasn't really mentioned much in the whole series (Didn't want to give spoiler so I won't say more about it)

Binge-watched the Whole Drama!

I’m usually not one to binge-watch a tv series, but Crime Puzzle made me sit on the couch for the whole 9 hours (sleepiness took over so I had to wait till next day to finish the last episode). The title stayed true to itself as every episode seem to put things together. We all started with a lot of questions and suspicions from episode 1 then we get to every episode where every puzzle pieces are put together. I like the fact that all my questions were answered even before the last episode so it gave me time to digest it and enjoy the satisfaction in episode 10. I feel that 10 episodes are not enough, yet I do think they wrapped the story in a way that sort of satisfied me. I said sort of satisfied me because if you watch this drama, you’ll understand that it seems that the first part of the story had been resolved, but there are certain issues that have not been dealt or discovered yet. I’m not sure what the production has decided but I do think, like most crime dramas out there, they did open up the possibility of another season.

Yoon Kye Sang definitely understood his character! It’s his first drama I’ve ever watched and I guarantee you that he did not disappoint. Kudos to the other cast members too that made the drama intense and nerve-wracking! If I must say, Go Ah Sung didn’t really convince me until the last episode. I can’t point out of it’s her acting or was it the lack of character development? I do want to see her character more though because like what I mentioned, she managed to get me on the same boat as her towards the end. I also feel that the chemistry between the leads didn’t really show until towards the last few episodes which didn’t make me sympathize with the “lover” part of the plot. Then again it’s a crime drama so what do I expect? I can point out more what I liked about this drama but I’m afraid I’ll reveal some information that for me would be better to discover while watching the drama.

The cinematography was one of the best I’ve seen in Korean dramas! The camera angle, including parts where the camera seem shaky, made a lot of scenes more intense and/or emotional. This drama is also not afraid of blood so if you are not a fan, then I suggest to try to anticipate when such bloody scenes will show up (trust me it’s pretty obvious) then just look a way. I like how they show such scenes though. It really made this drama seem so real.

Overall this drama is one of those dramas that you won’t get tired binge-watching it. Unless of course you don’t like bloody scenes, so you’ll probably have to watch something light in between. I really enjoyed how every questions I had were slowly getting answered slowly in every episode. Also thank you to the writer for not putting that love triangle drama so audiences can focus on the real issue. Really hoping for another season for this one!

Kept Me Gasping Till The End!

I don’t where to start, but I got hooked by this drama from the beginning till the end! Living in Canada, I always have to wake up early on Saturday mornings to watch the drama live. I tell you that it was the best decision ever since going on Twitter while this drama is airing will make it lose its element of surprise! No kidding about that since I gasped with every episode, from the surprise guests, to the sudden turn of events. Before anything, kudos to the writers and directors for making such a masterpiece! I am beyond proud of the actors too! I have seen their previous works and to suddenly see them in a very mature series, it really took me off guard! One thing I enjoyed too are the soundtracks used! How is it that the song matches every scene?! I have never watched a series where the songs used in the background got me gasping for how accurate it is with the situation. I also loved how this drama tackled a lot of vices and how it affects people around those who does it. Mental health was also featured here a lot especially with Ray’s character. What I appreciated is how they actually showed the positive light for Ray and how he was saved from his darkness. Personally, I relate to that. Top and Mew had a lot of ups and downs. Honestly was ok too if they don’t end up together, but I guess it shows no harm to feature forgiveness and new beginning. I am happy for Nick and Boston. I do think being together would have been toxic for either of them. If anything, I do wish we saw more of April and Cheum’s love life then again the other couples are messy enough already.

I’m writing this because I am really missing Ray. For the 12 weeks, I laughed, cried and got angry with him. Khaotung really did a great job with playing Ray All the emotional scenes were so memorable. I don’t think I can ever move on from those!

I’ll go and binge watch the series now! Yes, I’m rewatching it despite it ending only this morning here ?
