Everything is out in the open now

Well, sort of. We still don't know whether Ohm returns Mick's feelings or whether Per likes Win. But finally, Phun sees for himself that Aim never loved him and has always loved Lee. I hope his heartbreak heals quickly with Noh by his side. And I'm really glad Noh and Yuri just stayed friends throughout the series.

Push and pull is getting old

Pat was not firm enough with Paeng in the beginning, which gave her hope. You don't need a "date" to explain to your ex that there's no hope of getting back together. And Elyes should have trusted Pat.

My "pawn"

My "pawn," says Duke Su, but he treats Jiang Li/Xue Lie as his queen. As busy as he is, he has time to watch her take a nap. Even his two lackeys roll their eyes at the way the Duke has acted with to her. And now, she has a whistle to summon his men at all times. The way her stepmother and the eldest Princess and Chancellor Li are ganging up on her, she'll need that whistle.

Let's use this pawn

...to thoroughly clean the Imperial Court.Says the Emperor to Duke Su. It may sound offensive but Jiang Li/Xue Fang Fei had already given permission to Duke Su to use her as a pawn once her matters are taken care of. I really hope the Emperor has what it takes to follow through to include Consorts Li who he keeps by his side.

Corrupt governments

...breed fear into their citizens that they're afraid to speak up, even when they know it's the right thing to do. Magistrate Xue's mind is so far gone that he doesn't even recognize Ah Li was truly heartbreaking. All of this for a Prince's greed for wealth and power.

Duke Su for the win

I know he went there for his own purposes too, but he is not indifferent to Fang Fei/Jiang Li. The fact that he wanted her to know what happened at the brothel - that it was related to a case - to reassure her that he wasn't a customer there. And he goes to her whenever he feels like she may need him. In many ways, he lets her fight her own battles, but he also makes sure that he's there to back her up, if needed, because there's seems to be so many people wanting her to fail.

One-bed trope

It's pretty obvious now that Xhi Shu has feelings for Xiang Qin. And during her overnight stay at his place, he made it clear why nothing was going to happen - that if anything did, he would be under his mom's thumb his whole life. She already tries to openly manipulate everything to her will, including who she wants him to marry. And that's why he's resisting his feeling for Xiang Qin so much. If only his mom knew how much her efforts were back-firing.

I'm a bit heartbroken for Xiang Qin

Zhi Shu remains cold towards her. I wish she could just get over him. This is so painful and so very sad. And he maintained his friendship with Tzu Yu.

I'm already impressed by Xue Fang Fei

She a brilliant mind and I can't wait for her to use it against or for Duke Su's purposes. I just want those two in the same room and see what sparks happen.

I liked most of this episode but...

I didn't like Zhi Shu equating her sincerity based on the grades she got. He knows how much she struggles as a student. That felt unfair and the way he did it was humiliating to her.As much as his parents loved him, I don't think they realize how much he needs his autonomy at his age. He's a good kid and he'll figure things out but he needs the time and space to do it. Parents can't always make decisions for their kids when their kids are undecided. Or in Zhi Shu's case, he had decided not to attend Taiwan's best university, but his father wants him to re-take the exam. His parents need to respect his decisions. And this constant talk about deciding his marriage. It just puts him off Xiang Qin. Early on, he even said, "Even if I fall for you, that would never happen" or something like that.

Jealousy rears its ugly head

Zhi Shu doesn't understand why he doesn't like Xiang Qin hanging out or speaking with the tennis club leader, Hao Qian. And when the club members start to think Hao Qian is dating Xiang Qin, it makes Zhi Shu's jealousy worse. He acts out by accepting Tzu Yu's movie invitation.

"I can't live without you"

So, they actually confessed to each other in this episode, but it felt flat. Before, it was employee-employer with benefits and Pat didn't always know where he stood in Elyes's life/priorities. But, now, we have Elyes saying, "I can't live without you." Isn't that more than saying, "I love you?"

Cat's out of the bag

Finally. That was a really difficult place for Noh to be in, to know something about Aim that could hurt Phun but it wasn't really his place to say something, was it? Phun has said he had feelings for Aim, and Noh was always careful to make sure Phun was happy. I'm just glad it's out in the open. This way, Phun can decide for himself what he wants to do.

That song Yai sang was pretty telling

If only Mangkorn really listened. Yai basically decided to let him go even though he had feelings for him. And that's perfectly reasonable. Mangkorn hid his engagement, kept lying about his relationship with Hong, made out with Cherry. If I were Yai, letting go would be the best decision, too.

Too cute

I've seen other versions, and this one is cute as well. I'm a sucker for adaptations from this manga.
