My Post Drama Depression is super real

I watched YAMG without much expectations but the fluff got me really good, as expected from Gu Man!!! The build up is slightly long, like a slow burn that sort of drama but I live for the interaction of the two ML and FL so much I could cry T_T I think this series will live in my head rent free for awhile longer.. I remember reading another review that said that even the manager and side characters don't have their full names revealed, which meant that the drama was heavily focused on these two main leads - which I noticed actually helps with the plot to an extent.

I think its just a super cute series because it involved accurate game information (which ws apparently because they were sponsored by wzry too i think), and as someone who loves romance and games this is definitely rather high on the list for me ;w;;

Casts and Storyline were amazing!

The original novel title caught my attention and I instantly marked the drama!! I could feel myself getting sucked into the series slowly as the episodes progressed and I really loved the casts in the show and their relationships (e.g. The sisterly bonds between Zhao Qiao Yi and Hao Wu Yi)

Qiao Yi is someone that slightly wears her heart on her sleeve and Yan Mo on the contrary is always indifferent about most things...except Qiao Yi. So it was really nice to see how Yan Mo tried to be more affectionate towards Qiao Yi yet be like 'uh no im not concerned at all'.

The chemistry between the two leads were really good and their interactions were as natural as this series, I enjoyed watching every single moment of them being together and slowly coming closer.

I also think that the styling on Qiao Yi was great, as the series managed to show her mature and grow with the outfits her character wears over the years and at the same time kept it visually appealing - she looked so pretty throughout the series!!

Lastly, Qiao Yi's family is really adorable. Her parents are very supportive of her and her goals and her step-dad is really sweet towards his step-children. Her mother, while constantly berating Qiao Yi for her ignorance and actions, deep down really cares for her and would secretly support her within her means - which I think many asian children may be able to relate to.

I hope to be able to pick up the original novel again when I come across it to support the author for blessing me with such a good love story ♥

A cute C-Drama to start with!

This was my first c-drama back in 2016 and I have to say it's just one of the few dramas that I still love! In my opinion it was well-paced and really sweet, albeit I wish there were more bits and pieces about them being in-game in the later parts of the series since I'm a gamer myself.

It was really light to watch since the story was mostly smooth. Though if I had to nitpick it was pretty annoying that they had to dub over some scenes and it looked very out of sync, but most dramas do dubs anyway.

A pretty refreshing watch and easy to start out with if this is your first few times getting into modern C-Dramas. I liked the series so much I actually purchased the physical book for Love O2O :>

A (slightly exaggerated) c-drama about romance, ambition and friendship

Don't get me wrong, Go Go Squid wasn't THAT bad, but it wasn't as good as I wished it was.
I jumped in when many reviews said that the female lead was a cosplay singer and the male lead was a pro e-sports gamer. As someone interested in both I was disappointed to find out that Tong Nian wasn't actually cosplaying but is really more of "popular singer that covers anime songs"

The casts looked good and were quite suited to their role in the drama - e.g. looking like their intended age in the show. The main leads were cute and their interaction on screen made my heart flutter a lot, HOWEVER story-wise it was slightly hard to believe due to their big age gap and how the female lead mostly felt very clingy to the male lead and generally passive throughout the series.

One big thing that drives the drama is the ambition that the e-sport casts have. I like that the story also includes many scenes of the gamers training and struggling to prove themselves to be the best. It also includes light-hearted interactions like bantering with Han Shang Yan DESPITE him being the "scary boss", I found that refreshing to watch.

Unfortunately some things just don't sit right with me when watching this drama, for example the styling for the female lead - Tong Nian is constantly wearing really baggy outfits that are weirdly put together (e.g. bright yellow knee length shirts, white shoes complemented with a denim jacket). It was most likely put together because they wanted to give Tong Nian that youthful demeanor in contrast to Han Shang Yan but it looked horrible. I don't think I wanna sit through 41 episodes of that ever again.
