I fell in love with Jeon Jongseo after Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon. She is one of the best actresses and she plays such cool characters. Initially, I thought the person she was avenging could have done more to help the main character but putting that to the side this film just screamed female rage and I'm here for it. When you put into perspective the SA laws in Korea and how they are carried out it makes you feel hopeless. It's a country where cases like, "the burning sun" happen and the people involved aren't brought to justice which makes citizens and victims lose hope in authorities. This character brings out that justice. I liked how the perpetrator in the movie said something along the lines of "What I did wasn't even that bad and I don't deserve to die" because who are you to decide what is and isn't bad after what you have done to all of those girls? The downplaying of what they did is also common in real-life cases. This movie was amazing and I think it should be shown to everyone. Really disappointed to see such a low rating and the point of the movie flying over people's heads. Was this review helpful to you?
Awesome film
Such an important film so glad I watched it after seeing the deep dive done by Stephanie soo and the actual story that happened including how the film was made. Gong Yoo is an amazing actor. It's a hard watch considering the nature of the film but its films like these that have such an influence on humanity. Was this review helpful to you?
The h8te show
I just finished watching this and It truly is only something a sadist can enjoy the only moral I got out of it was “if you are in poverty you will never get out of it and if you are rich you can do whatever you want with no consequences”. The characters made out-of-character choices, the writing was sloppy, the plot was repetitive and there was too much unnecessary suffering that could have been prevented. There was absolutely no justice and I regret watching it. I skipped so many of the torture scenes because I knew the perpetrators would not get hurt back. If you enjoy watching people who are already down, get hurt over and over again then this is your cup of tea. I love films that have social commentary but it feels like this was written by some rich ignorant that has never met a poor person before. If you think all poor people have hearts of gold and would never hurt someone despite them being ruthlessly tortured by said person, u are soooooo wrong. This was an unpleasant watch to say the least I have seen and watched many dark or real shows/movies and I’m not bothered easily but this was so annoying at some point I stopped caring for the characters because they stopped using their heads and I didn’t care about what happened to them cause I thought everything was deserved. The plot was interesting but was carried out so poorly, lots of lost potential. Very unsatisfying. Was this review helpful to you?
it was great up until the last three episodes
I watched this show for a calm and good time, something not too heavy and where I wouldn't have to think too much, and while it served its purpose and had beautiful cinematography, a plot that could have been wrapped up nicely was messed up with an unnecessary plot. I would have given this a 9 or 10 if it weren't for the last three episodes. And as I watched these last three unfold I was constantly asking why it had to come to this. I would still recommend it it's a good show but it could've been even better. Was this review helpful to you?
